Awqaf Ministry urges Saudi Arabia to remove curbs on Umrah, Haj pilgrims

Doha: The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has called on the concerned authorities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to remove all obstacles facing Qataris and residents of the State of Qatar who wish to visit the holy sites to perform Umrah during the holy month of Ramadan or to perform Haj as its season approaches.
The Ministry also demanded, in a statement issued yesterday, the Saudi authorities to provide all facilities, similar to those provided to other citizens of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and the Arab and Islamic countries.
The Ministry noted some of the obstacles that prevent the citizens and residents of the State of Qatar from visiting Masjid Al Haram (Grand Mosque) in Makkah Al Mukarramah, saying that direct flights from Doha to Jeddah are still not allowed for all airlines, and that Saudi Arabia continued to close the only border crossing before people with low income or those who can not travel by air and want to visit Masjid Al Haram.
The Ministry also pointed out that the Saudi authorities do not allow Qatari Umrah and Haj campaigns to enter and take the necessary licences, similar to the campaigns of all other countries, meaning that they cannot ensure health and safety of pilgrims, which is a great challenge, especially in the case of women, the elderly and patients.
The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs pointed to systematic media incitement against Qataris and the dangers that may ensue, adding what is worrying about this is the continuation of the inflammatory media discourse against Qatar and the Qataris, which may pose a threat to their safety.
The Ministry renewed its call on the Saudi authorities to review these discriminatory measures against Qataris and those in the State of Qatar, calling for a heightened sense of religious responsibility and non-politicisation of the religious rituals.
دعت وزارة الأوقاف والشؤون الإسلامية السلطات المعنية في المملكة العربية السعودية، إلى إزالة العراقيل كافة أمام من يرغب في زيارة المشاعر المقدسة من قطريين أو مقيمين على أرض دولة قطر لأداء العمرة في شهر رمضان المبارك، أو لتأدية فريضة الحجّ مع اقتراب موسمه. كما طالبت الوزارة -في بيان صدر عنها أمس- السلطات السعودية بتقديم التسهيلات كافة أسوةً بما يتمّ تقديمه لبقية مواطني دول مجلس التعاون الخليجي والدول العربية والإسلامية.
أشارت الوزارة إلى بعض العراقيل التي تحول بين مواطني دولة قطر والمقيمين على أرضها وزيارة بيت الله الحرام. وقالت: «إن الرحلات الجوية المباشرة من الدوحة إلى جدة لا يزال غير مسموح بها لجميع خطوط الطيران، بالإضافة إلى استمرار إغلاق السعودية المنفذ البري الوحيد أمام ذوي الدخل المحدود أو الذين يتعذّر عليهم السفر جوّاً ممن يريدون زيارة بيت الله الحرام». كما لفتت الوزارة في السياق ذاته، إلى أنّ السلطات السعودية لا تسمح لحملات العمرة والحجّ القطرية بالدخول وأخذ التصريحات اللازمة أسوة بحملات جميع الدول الأخرى، مما يعني عدم قدرتها على تأمين سلامة وأمن وصحة المعتمرين والحجاج، الأمر الذي يشكّل تحدياً كبيراً، خاصةً في حالة النساء وكبار السن والمرضى.
ونبهت وزارة الأوقاف والشؤون الإسلامية إلى التحريض الإعلامي الممنهج ضد القطريين وما قد يترتب على ذلك من مخاطر، وقالت: «ومما يثير القلق بهذا الشأن هو استمرار الخطاب الإعلامي المحرّض ضد قطر والقطريين والذي قد يشكّل خطراً على سلامتهم».
وجددت الوزارة دعوتها السلطات السعودية إلى مراجعة هذه الإجراءات التمييزية ضدّ القطريين ومن يرتبط بدولة قطر، كما حثت على تغليب الحسّ بالمسؤولية الدينية وعدم تسييس شعائر الله سبحانه وتعالى.
