Shura Council signs MoC with Group of Latin American & Caribbean States

Doha: The Shura Council and the Parliamentary Group of Latin American and Caribbean States (GRULAC) signed yesterday a memorandum of cooperation (MoC) at the headquarters of the Shura Council.
The MoC was signed by the Shura Council Speaker, H E Ahmed bin Abdulla bin Zaid Al Mahmoud, for the State of Qatar and by President of GRULAC in IPU, Rodolfo Urtubey for the GRULAC side.
Under the memorandum of cooperation, the two sides agreed to strengthen ties of friendship to sustain and continue their relations, to find mechanisms for joint cooperation, to share information and to exchange visits between the Shura Council and Parliamentary Group of Latin American and Caribbean States to support bilateral cooperation, as well as to strengthen communication in the field of political dialogue, international peace and security, the promotion of democracy, education, energy and water resources, in addition to other issues of common concern to both sides.
The signing of the MoU took place during a meeting between the two sides, at which they discussed parliamentary relations between the Shura Council and the Parliamentary Group of Latin American and Caribbean States and explored ways to enhance and bolster them.
The meeting also reviewed the issues on the agenda of the (140) Meeting of the General Assembly of the IPU which will begins its meetings in Doha next Saturday.
The meeting was attended by Ambassador of the Argentine Republic to Qatar Carlos Hernandez, and a number of members of the Qatari- Latin American and Caribbean friendship group.
تم التوقيع أمس بمقر مجلس الشورى على مذكرة تعاون بين مجلس الشورى والمجموعة البرلمانية لدول أميركا اللاتينية والكاريبي «غرولاك»، حيث وقع على المذكرة من الجانب القطري سعادة السيد أحمد بن عبدالله بن زيد آل محمود رئيس مجلس الشورى، ومن جانب المجموعة البرلمانية لدول أميركا اللاتينية والكاريبي سعادة السيد رودولفو أورتيبي رئيس المجموعة في الاتحاد البرلماني الدولي.
واتفق الطرفان بموجب مذكرة التعاون على تعزيز أواصر الصداقة لدعم الاستقرار والاستمرارية في علاقاتهما، وإيجاد آليات للتعاون المشترك، وتبادل المعلومات والزيارات بين مجلس الشورى وبرلمانات دول أميركا اللاتينية والكاريبي، لدعم علاقات التعاون الثنائية، وتعزيز التواصل في ميدان الحوار السياسي والسلم والأمن الدوليين، وتعزيز الديمقراطية والتربية والطاقة ومصادر المياه، إضافة إلى قضايا أخرى ذات اهتمام مشترك لدى الجانبين.
جاء ذلك خلال الاجتماع الذي تم بين الجانبين وجرى خلاله بحث العلاقات البرلمانية بين مجلس الشورى وبرلمانات دول أميركا اللاتينية والكاريبي، وسبل دعمها وتطويرها، كما تم خلال الاجتماع استعراض القضايا المطروحة على جدول أعمال الدورة الـ 140 للجمعية العامة للاتحاد البرلماني الدولي؛ التي تبدأ اجتماعاتها بالدوحة يوم السبت المقبل.
حضر الاجتماع سعادة السيد كارلوس هيرناديث سفير جمهورية الأرجنتين لدى الدولة، وعدد من أعضاء مجموعة الصداقة القطرية مع دول أميركا اللاتينية والكاريبي.
