QFFD provides relief to over 100,000 cyclone victims in Mozambique
صندوق قطر للتنمية يقدّم المساعدات لـ 100 ألف مستفيد في موزمبيق
Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) announced the provision of an urgent humanitarian assistance to 100,000 victims, in addition to providing direct food assistance to 12,076 residents of the affected area, as part of the State of Qatar’s solidarity with the friendly Republic of Mozambique that was devastated by a cyclone.
QFFD, in coordination with the Standing Committee for Rescue, Relief and Humanitarian Assistance, have sent a relief aircraft to the affected areas, to deliver 32 tonnes of relief supplies including medicine, food, baby milk, tents, and other relief materials.
The Fund works also in coordination with the World Food Program (WFP) to deliver food baskets to persons in desperate need in submerged and severely damaged areas, including cereals, pulse food, vegetable oil, soybean meal, ready-to-eat food and high-energy biscuits.
The State of Qatar expressed its deepest condolences over the loss of lives, and express its commitment to stand in solidarity with the Republic of Mozambique to overcome this humanitarian crisis, wishing the People of Mozambique further progress and prosperity.
It is worth mentioning that the tropical cyclone, Idai, hit several provinces and districts in Mozambique, including Sofala, Zambezia, Tete, Nyasa, Manica and Inhambane, causing widespread devastation, killing at least 600 people, and leaving several injured, including people trapped by the cyclone.
The population is suffering also from widespread food shortage and lack of medicines caused by this humanitarian disaster.
أعربت دولة قطر عن تضامنها مع جمهورية موزمبيق الصديقة في الأزمة الإنسانية التي تمر بها جراء الإعصار الكارثي الذي خلف أضراراً جسيمة في عدة مناطق فيها، وذلك عبر تقديمها مساعدات لـ 100 ألف مستفيد بشكل عاجل، إضافة إلى سلال غذائية لــ 12,076 شخصاً.
وقام صندوق قطر للتنمية بالتنسيق مع اللجنة الدائمة لأعمال الإنقاذ والإغاثة والمساعدات الإنسانية، لإرسال طائرة إغاثية إلى المناطق المنكوبة محملة بـ 32 طناً من الأدوية والأغذية وحليب الأطفال والخيام والمواد الإغاثية.
كما يعمل الصندوق على دعم برنامج الغذاء العالمي لتكميل جهوده في توزيع الطعام على الأهالي المنكوبين في المساكن المركزية والمناطق المحاصرة بالفيضانات. تتضمن سلال الأغذية الموزعة الحبوب والبقول والزيت النباتي المدعم وخليط الذرة الصويا والمكملات الغذائية الجاهزة والبسكويت عالي الطاقة.
وتعرب دولة قطر عن خالص تعازيها لجمهورية موزمبيق في ضحايا الإعصار، وتجدد تضامنها ووقوفها معها لتخطي هذه الأزمة الإنسانية بنجاح، متمنية للشعب الموزمبيقي الصديق موفور الصحة والازدهار.
وكانت موزمبيق قد تأثرت من إعصار مداري استوائي ضرب كلاً من سوفالا وزامبيزيا وتيتي ونياسا ومانيكا وإنهامبان، وخلّف ما يقارب الـ 600 قتيل، وعدداً من الجرحى بينهم أشخاص محاصرون جراء ما خلفه الإعصار من فيضانات، إضافة إلى الخسائر المادية والنقص في الغذاء والدواء الذي عانى منه الأهالي إثر هذه الكارثة الإنسانية.
