Qatar-funded 100-bed rehabilitation and prostheses hospital opens in Gaza
قطر تفتتح بغزة مستشفى للتأهيل والأطراف الصناعية بسعة استيعابية لـ 100 سرير
Doha: Qatar-funded rehabilitation and prosthetics hospital was inaugurated on Monday in Gaza.
The Father Amir HH Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani Rehabilitation and Prosthetics Hospital was built with the funding of Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) and implemented by the National Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza in cooperation with the Ministry of Public Health of Qatar, which has sent a number of doctors to operate and train the medical staff.
Khalifa bin Jassim Al-Kuwari, Director General of QFFD, said that “providing support to the Arab World, and especially to the Palestinians living in the Gaza Strip, has always been a top priority for Qatar. This hospital for rehabilitation and artificial limbs aims to provide treatment to Palestinian patients suffering from limb amputation to help them get back to normal life. The population needs this kind of support to live a decent life, especially in light of the difficult living conditions and the challenges they are facing in accessing treatment services.”
The ceremony was attended by the Vice-Chairman of Qatar Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza KhaiId Al Hardan, Undersecretary of the Palestinian Ministry of Health Dr Yousef Abu Rish, Director-General of the Hospital Dr Raafat Labad, and Head of International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) sub-delegation in Gaza, Gilan Devorn, in addition to the participation of members of the Legislative Council, leaders of the Palestinian national labor, heads of trade unions and a QFFD delegation.
In their speech, Dr Yousef Abu Al-Rish and Dr Raafat Labad, appreciated the role played by Qatar in the humanitarian and developmental projects in Gaza and expressed their thanks to Amir H H Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani and Father Amir H H Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani.
The hospital was built on an area of 12,000 square meters with a capacity of 100 beds, in addition to that it has a range of key departments to provide high-quality care according to international quality standards, including a prosthetics and amputee rehabilitation service, a physiotherapy service, an occupational therapy service, a nursing service, and a department for speech and swallowing disorder.
The hospital provides also a pediatric service. The hospital serves all Palestinian citizens with disabilities and special needs, focusing on the Gaza Strip because of the location of the hospital.
احتفل صندوق قطر للتنمية ببدء تشغيل مستشفى صاحب السمو الأمير الوالد الشيخ حمد بن خليفة آل ثاني للتأهيل والأطراف الصناعية في غزة، حيث قام سعادة السيد خليفة بن جاسم الكواري مدير عام صندوق قطر للتنمية، بالإعلان عن بدء تشغيل المستشفى الذي تم تشييده بتمويل من الصندوق بالنيابة عن دولة قطر، وتنفيذ لجنة إعمار غزة، وبالتعاون مع وزارة الصحة القطرية التي عملت على إرسال عدد من الأطباء لتشغيل وتدريب الكادر الطبي.
قال مدير عام صندوق قطر للتنمية في تصريح له: «لطالما اهتمت دولة قطر بمساعدة دول العالم العربي وعلى وجه التحديد الأشقاء الفلسطينيين في غزة، ويهدف المستشفى إلى علاج المرضى الفلسطينيين الذين يعانون من بتر في أطرافهم وتأهيلهم للعودة لحياتهم الطبيعية مرة أخرى، حيث إن الأهالي بحاجة لمثل هذا الدعم لينعموا بحياة كريمة، ولا سيما في ظل الظروف الصعبة التي يقاسونها، ومنها صعوبة الوصول للعلاج». حضر الحفل سعادة السيد خالد الحردان نائب سفير دولة قطر لدى غزة، وسعادة السيد الدكتور يوسف أبوالريش وكيل وزارة الصحة الفلسطينية، وسعادة الدكتور رأفت لبد مدير عام المستشفى، وسعادة السيد جيلان ديفورن مدير بعثة الصليب الأحمر في غزة، بالإضافة إلى مشاركة عدد من الشخصيات الاعتبارية وأعضاء من نواب المجلس التشريعي وقيادات العمل الوطني الفلسطيني ورؤساء النقابات المهنية ووفد من صندوق قطر للتنمية.
وفي كلمتيهما قام كل من سعادة السيد الدكتور يوسف أبوالريش، وسعادة الدكتور رأفت لبد مدير عام المستشفى، بتثمين الدور الذي تلعبه دولة قطر في المشاريع الإنسانية والتنموية في غزة، كما عبروا عن شكرهم لحضرة صاحب السمو الشيخ تميم بن حمد آل ثاني أمير البلاد المفدى -حفظه الله- وصاحب السمو الأمير الوالد الشيخ حمد بن خليفة آل ثاني -حفظه الله.
تم إنشاء المستشفى على مساحة 12,000 متر مربع، بسعة استيعابية لـ 100 سرير، ويحتوي المستشفى على العديد من الأقسام المهمة لتقديم أفضل جودة من العلاج وفق المعايير العالمية، منها قسم الأطراف الصناعية، وقسم التأهيل الحركي واللفظي، وقسم العلاج الوظيفي، وقسم التمريض، وقسم النطق والبلع، وقسم السمعيات، وقسم للأطفال. ويخدم المستشفى جميع المواطنين الفلسطينيين من ذوي الإعاقة والاحتياجات الخاصة، بالتركيز على قطاع غزة وذلك بسبب موقع المستشفى.
