Qatar expresses concern over military escalation in Libya

Doha: The State of Qatar confirmed that it has been following the recent military escalation in Libya with great concern, noting that this escalation comes shortly before the convening of the Libyan National Conference, and thus threatens to undermine the path of the UN-backed political solution.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement today that the State of Qatar warns of sliding into chaos and insecurity in western Libya, which will have serious repercussions on the political process and the ability of institutions in those areas to protect citizens stir their lives and to contain the problem of migration and human trafficking.
According to the statement, the State of Qatar reminded regional and international actors that this escalation might have a disastrous impact on the entire region, including Europe, and calls for exercising influence to stop the recent attacks on western Libya, which is a clear violation of the UN agreement.
The statement called on all parties in Libya to shoulder their responsibility towards the Libyan people, who aspire for peaceful solution and prioritizing national dialogue over military options and the interest of the Libyan nation over individual ones.
تتابع دولة قطر وبقلق بالغ التصعيد العسكري الأخير في ليبيا والذي يأتي قبيل انعقاد المؤتمر الوطني الليبي الجامع مما ينذر بتقويض مسار الحلّ السياسي الذي ترعاه الأمم المتحدة.
وقالت وزارة الخارجية في بيان: “تحذر دولة قطر من الانزلاق مرة أخرى في هوة الفوضى والانفلات الأمني في غرب ليبيا مما سيكون له تداعيات خطيرة على المسار السياسي وقدرة المؤسسات في تلك المناطق على حماية المواطنين وتسيير شؤونهم من ناحية وعلى احتواء مشكلة الهجرة غير الشرعية والاتجار بالبشر من ناحية أخرى”.
وأضاف البيان “تذكّر دولة قطر الفاعلين الإقليميين والدوليين أن لهذه النقطة الأخيرة تأثيرا كارثيا على المنطقة بأكملها بما فيها محيطها الأوروبي مما يشكّل اعتبارا اضافيا يستدعي ضرورة إعمال هذه الدول لنفوذها لإيقاف الاعتداءات الأخيرة على غرب ليبيا والتي تعدّ خرقاً واضحا للاتفاق الأممي من قبل القوات المعتدية”.
ودعت وزارة الخارجية جميع أطراف الصراع في ليبيا إلى الوقوف على مسؤوليتهم التاريخية أمام الشعب الليبي الذي يعلّق الآمال على مسار الحلّ السلمي وأن يقدموا الحوار الوطني على الخيارات العسكرية ومصلحة الوطن الليبي الأكبر على المصالح الفرعية الضيقة.
