Qatar condemns Tripoli Mitiga Airport shelling, calls for international investigation

Doha: Qatar has expressed, in the strongest terms, its condemnation of the aerial bombardment of “Mitiga” airport in the Libyan capital Tripoli, for which Haftar forces had claimed responsibility.
In a statement today, the Foreign Ministry said that the State of Qatar considers the bombing to be a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law, that calls for an urgent international investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Qatar, according to the Ministry’s statement, stressed the need for regional and international actors to move urgently to stop the military escalation in Libya, which threatens to undermine the path of the political solution sponsored by the United Nations.
The statement also affirmed Qatar’s full support for the internationally-recognized legitimate Government of National Accord and its support for the efforts of the UN envoy to reach a just political solution for the Libyan people.
The statement also renewed Qatar’s call to all parties to the conflict in Libya to shoulder their historical responsibility for the Libyan people, which pin their hopes on the path of peaceful solution, and to prioritize national dialogue over military choices and the interest of the Libyan homeland over individual ones.
أعربت دولة قطر عن إدانتها بأشد العبارات للقصف الجوي الذي تعرض له مطار “معيتيقة” في العاصمة الليبية طرابلس، وأعلنت قوات حفتر مسؤوليتها عنه.
وقالت وزارة الخارجية ، في بيان اليوم ، إن دولة قطر تعد هذا القصف انتهاكا سافرا للقانون الإنساني الدولي يستوجب تحقيقا دوليا عاجلا لتقديم المعتدين للعدالة.
وشددت على ضرورة تحرك الفاعلين الإقليميين والدوليين بصورة عاجلة لوقف التصعيد العسكري في ليبيا الذي ينذر بتقويض مسار الحل السياسي الذي ترعاه الأمم المتحدة.
كما أكد البيان دعم دولة قطر الكامل لحكومة الوفاق الوطني الشرعية المعترف بها دوليا، ودعمها لجهود مبعوث الأمم المتحدة للتوصل إلى حل سياسي عادل للشعب الليبي.
وجدد البيان دعوة دولة قطر إلى جميع أطراف الصراع في ليبيا إلى الوقوف على مسؤوليتهم التاريخية أمام الشعب الليبي الذي يعلق الآمال على مسار الحل السلمي، وأن يقدموا الحوار الوطني على الخيارات العسكرية، ومصلحة الوطن الليبي الأكبر على المصالح الفرعية الضيقة.
