MME, US Embassy organise workshop on air quality

DOHA: The Ministry of Municipality and Environment, represented by the Environmental Monitoring Department opened yesterday a workshop in cooperation with the US Embassy in Doha, on monitoring air quality.
The workshop aims to enhance the Qatari partnership with different countries, with the aim of exchanging experiences in the environmental field and within the framework of bilateral agreements.
The Assistant Undersecretary for Environmental Affairs at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment Eng. Ahmed Mohammed Al Sada said in his speech that Qatar’s interest in the environment and its sustainability in general and air quality in particular coincides with the global interest in this regard, and this is clearly reflected in Qatar’s National Vision 2030 in terms of protecting the environment for future generations and it is the duty of the Ministry as a responsible authority in the state to always strive to develop capabilities and benefit from the experience of others in maintaining and improving air quality, he said.
Al Sada added that the participants will be briefed on the expertise and techniques used in air quality management in California and discuss possible areas of cooperation in this area. He hoped that the discussions and exchange of ideas will better improve air quality management in Qatar.
During the two-day workshop, the Chief Executive Officer and Air Pollution Control Officer of California Jack Broadbent, will discuss possible areas of cooperation between the two sides and exchange experiences and ideas on possible means to improve air quality management and identify best practices for best results.
بدأت اليوم، فعاليات ورشة العمل التي تنظمها وزارة البلدية والبيئة ممثلة بإدارة الرصد والمختبر البيئي بالتعاون مع السفارة الأمريكية بالدوحة حول رصد جودة الهواء.
وتأتي الورشة في إطار السعي لتعزيز الشراكة القطرية مع مختلف دول العالم بهدف تبادل الخبرات في المجال البيئي وضمن محور الاتفاقات الثنائية في شتى المجالات.
وأكد المهندس أحمد محمد السادة وكيل الوزارة المساعد لشؤون البيئة بوزارة البلدية والبيئة في كلمته بالجلسة الافتتاحية، “أن اهتمام دولة قطر بالبيئة واستدامتها بصورة عامة والاهتمام بجودة الهواء بصورة خاصة يأتي متزامنا مع الاهتمام العالمي بهذا الصدد وهو ما انعكس بشكل واضح في رؤية قطر الوطنية 2030 من حيث الحفاظ على البيئة من أجل أجيال المستقبل، وقال “إن من واجبنا كجهة مسؤولة في الدولة أن نسعى دائما لتطوير قدراتنا والاستفادة من خبرات الآخرين في الحفاظ على جودة الهواء وتحسينه”.
وأوضح أن المشاركين سيطلعون خلال الفعاليات على الخبرات والتقنيات المستخدمة في إدارة جودة الهواء في ولاية كاليفورنيا، ومناقشة المجالات المحتملة للتعاون في هذا المجال، متمنيا أن تثمر النقاشات وتبادل الأفكار فهما أفضل للطرق التي يمكن من خلالها تحسين إدارة جودة الهواء في قطر والتعرف على أفضل الممارسات والخبرات لتحقيق ذلك.
وسيتم خلال الورشة التي تستمر لمدة يومين بحضور السيد جاك برودبنت الرئيس التنفيذي ومسؤول مكافحة تلوث الهواء في ولاية كاليفورنيا، مناقشة المجالات المحتملة للتعاون بين الجهتين المنظمتين لهذه الفعالية وتبادل الخبرات والأفكار حول الوسائل الممكنة لتحسين إدارة جودة الهواء والتعرف على أفضل التجارب والممارسات لتحقيق أفضل النتائج.
