Speaker of Shura Council reiterates Qatar’s support to Palestine

Speaker of the Shura Council H E Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud stressed the permanent position of the State of Qatar under the leadership of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in support of the just cause of the Palestinian people and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the June 1967 borders with Jerusalem as its capital, as well as Palestinian people’s enjoyment of all their rights, including the right of return.

H E the Speaker said that the position of Qatar is clear regarding any solution that does not guarantee the rights of the brotherly Palestinian people, saying that this is the position of Islamic countries, stressing that without guaranteeing these rights the so-called deal of century will fail.

The brotherly Palestinian people are still struggling and fighting and they have a determination to gain their rights, but so far things are unclear about what is being raised in relation to the so-called deal of the century, he said.

This came in a statement to reporters made by H E the Speaker on the sidelines of his participation in the 14th session of the Conference of Union of Councils of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States, in Rabat.

He pointed out that the conference discussed this deal and how to deal with it along positions towards it and its effects and repercussions on the Palestinian brothers in case it is approved, and considered its results bad in terms of its lack of guaranteeing their rights, foremost of which is the right to establish their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.

H E the Speaker termed the Palestinian cause as the foremost of all Islamic causes, and said that Muslims attach a special attention to it and Al Aqsa Mosque, the first of the Qibla and the third of the two holy mosques, pointing out that in this sense, the conferees had a profound discussion on the Palestinian issue through the positions of their countries, whether Arab countries or countries that sympathized with the Palestinian issue after the transfer of some foreign embassies to Jerusalem.

H E Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud said that the declaration that will be issued at the end of the conference will include several points in the draft final statement that are being studied and will include political, economic and cultural aspects, the situation in the Islamic region and other issues of concern to the Islamic world. This includes the fight against terrorism, extremism and the issue of migration, the positions of Muslim countries towards minorities whose rights are violated, the issue of dialogue among civilizations, cooperation between Islamic countries in all these matters, as well as the discussion of many other side issues.

The Speaker of the Shura Council also affirmed that the State of Qatar, under the leadership of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, has been and continues to demand the discussion of the root causes of the world’s problems to find solutions to them, and has been and continues to reject an insult to human dignity in all its forms and manifestations regardless of its motives.

In his speech at the opening session of the 14th session of the Conference of Union of Councils of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States in Morocco, the Speaker said that Qatar believes that respect for human values and safeguarding the rights of peoples will make the region safe and will be conducive to growth and development, thus achieving security and peace for our countries and Muslim peoples.

He pointed out that Qatar, within its contribution to achieving security and peace in the Islamic countries and worldwide, has undertaken numerous initiatives in the field of education to provide millions of educational opportunities for girls and boys such as providing education for one million girls as part of a plan to provide education for five million girls in conflict zones as well as providing more than one million jobs for young people outside Qatar to block their involvement in violence or resorting to illegal migration through funds under the auspices of the United Nations.

He also pointed out that Qatar launched a special fund to cover the cost of the return of migrants from Libya to their countries of origin and their integration into public life in their countries in accordance with an agreement with the African Union Commission and the United Nations.

In this context, the Speaker of the Shura Council called on all parliaments of member states of the OIC to give this issue the utmost importance because not embracing these young people and providing them with a decent life would be a waste of their energies and a serious threat to stability in their countries.

أكد سعادة السيد أحمد بن عبدالله بن زيد آل محمود -رئيس مجلس الشورى- على موقف دولة قطر الثابت بقيادة حضرة صاحب السمو الشيخ تميم بن حمد آل ثاني أمير البلاد المفدى «حفظه الله ورعاه» الداعم لقضية الشعب الفلسطيني العادلة، وإقامة الدولة الفلسطينية المستقلة على حدود يونيو 1967 وعاصمتها القدس، ونيل الشعب الفلسطيني لكل حقوقه ومنها حق العودة. ونبه سعادة رئيس مجلس الشورى إلى أن موقف قطر واضح من أي حل لا يضمن حقوق الشعب الفلسطيني الشقيق، وقال إن ذلك هو موقف الدول الإسلامية، مؤكداً أنه بدون ضمان هذه الحقوق ستكون ما يسمى بصفقة القرن صفقة «خاسرة». وأضاف سعادته: «الشعب الفلسطيني الشقيق لا يزال يكافح ويناضل، ولديه إصرار لنيل حقوقه، لكن حتى الآن هناك أمور غير واضحة بشأن ما يثار حول ما يسمى بصفقة القرن».

جاء ذلك في تصريح للصحافيين أدلى به سعادة رئيس مجلس الشورى على هامش مشاركته في الدورة الرابعة عشرة لمؤتمر اتحاد مجالس الدول الأعضاء في منظمة التعاون الإسلامي المنعقدة حالياً بالعاصمة المغربية الرباط. ولفت إلى أن المؤتمر قد ناقش هذه الصفقة، وكيفية التعاطي بشأنها والمواقف منها، وتأثيراتها وانعكاساتها على الإخوة الفلسطينيين في حال تم إقرارها، بدون أن تكون نتائجها طيبة بالنسبة لهم، وذلك من حيث عدم ضمانها لحقوقهم، وعلى رأسها حق إقامة دولتهم المستقلة وعاصمتها القدس.
