Qatar Red Crescent Society donates computers to CDC patients

Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has donated a digital library to Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) Communicable Disease Center (CDC) as part of its socio-psychological support programme, which is designed to boost patients’ morale and help them respond well to treatment.

The new library consists of seven laptops with all supplements, including educational and informative material in various fields of knowledge, for the benefit of in-patients, QRCS has said in a statement.

This is the sixth in a series of similar donations starting from 2010, with a total of 42 computers, given to the Paediatric Emergency Center, Fahad Bin Jassim Kidney Centre, Mental Health Service and other HMC medical facilities, the statement noted.

Ibrahim A al-Maliki, executive director of QRCS, said: “Vulnerable groups are our top priority, including patients who receive treatment at hospitals. Those need special care from society, particularly NGOs and charities.

“QRCS has the lead in this respect. A series of digital libraries have already been inaugurated at HMC to make the patients feel better, educate them on their specific cases and explain to them the procedures of treatment and preventive practices. These laptops will be available 24/7 to serve the patients.”

He promised to keep on the initiative of providing HMC facilities with digital libraries in pursuit of a stronger bilateral partnership in medical, awareness and social activities.

“We work closely with the Ministry of Public Health to improve community health standards, towards the human development goals of Qatar National Vision 2030,” he added.

«الهلال القطري» ينشئ المكتبة الإلكترونية السادسة

يواصل صندوق إعانة المرضى التابع للهلال الأحمر القطري، خدماته الخيرية لدعم المرضى غير القادرين، وكان آخرها إهداء مكتبة إلكترونية جديدة لمركز الأمراض الانتقالية بمؤسسة حمد الطبية، وذلك في إطار نشاط إنشاء المكتبات الإلكترونية في مختلف المنشآت الصحية بالدولة.

تتكون المكتبة الإلكترونية الجديدة من 7 أجهزة كمبيوتر حديثة مع جميع مشتملاتها، كما تتضمن مواداً تثقيفية وتعليمية في مختلف المجالات لفائدة نزلاء المركز، ويتمثل الهدف منها في الترفيه والترويح عن المرضي المقيمين، وتوظيف أوقات إقامتهم العلاجية بالمستشفيات في البحث والاطلاع، والاستفادة من المعلومات والمعارف المتاحة على شبكة الإنترنت.

وبهذا الإهداء، يكون عدد المكتبات الإلكترونية التي أنشأها الهلال الأحمر القطري بمؤسسات الرعاية الصحية منذ بداية هذا النشاط في عام 2010 قد وصل إلى 6 مكتبات إلكترونية، بإجمالي 42 جهاز كمبيوتر متكامل توزعت على العديد من المراكز والأقسام الطبية.

وقال السيد إبراهيم عبدالله المالكي المدير التنفيذي للهلال الأحمر القطري: «إننا نضع الفئات الضعيفة والمحتاجة للدعم في المجتمع على رأس أولوياتنا، ومن بينهم المرضى الذين يتلقون العلاج بالمستشفيات، فهم بحاجة إلى رعاية خاصة واهتمام من جميع مؤسسات المجتمع، وخاصة المؤسسات الإنسانية والخيرية».
