CRA engages with IT sector for its 5-year strategy

The Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) will conduct a focus group discussion meeting under the title “Information Technology (IT) Sector Challenges” today at the City Centre Rotana Doha and attended by local stakeholders.

CRA is conducting this meeting to solicit feedback from major players in the IT sector as it develops its comprehensive Sector Strategy for 2019-2023, which will include CRA’s goals and the mechanisms to achieve it.

Representatives from around 50 specialised local IT companies and entities will attend the meeting, where they will discuss their expectations and needs in the field, share their experiences and opinions, and talk about the current challenges that they are facing.

“This meeting is an important step towards developing CRA’s IT strategy, as it is an opportunity for CRA to better understand the status of this sector, by engaging directly with stakeholders and taking their opinions into account.

The strategy is in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030, as it supports CRA to enforce its mandate in a transparent and predictable manner, which contributes towards the sector’s sustainable development and growth,” said Mohammed Ali Al Mannai (pictured), President of CRA.

The IT Sector Strategy development will go through multiple steps starting with a sector review carried out by CRA to analyse regional and international trends and best practices in the field, leading to a public consultation where CRA will consider stakeholders’ responses during the final development of the strategy.

The new strategy is planned to be published alongside a related work plan by the second quarter of 2019.

ستعقد هيئة تنظيم الاتصالات، اليوم الاثنين، حلقة نقاشية تحت عنوان «قطاع تكنولوجيا المعلومات وتحدياته»، وذلك في فندق «سيتي سنتر روتانا الدوحة»، بحضور أصحاب المصلحة على المستوى المحلي. تعقد الهيئة هذه الحلقة النقاشية بهدف الاستماع إلى آراء اللاعبين الرئيسين في قطاع تكنولوجيا المعلومات في دولة قطر، وذلك بهدف إعداد استراتيجيتها الشاملة للقطاع للفترة 2019-2023، والتي ستتضمن أهداف الهيئة بالإضافة إلى آليات العمل نحو تحقيقها.

سيحضر الحلقة النقاشية ممثلون عن حوالي 50 جهة وشركة محلية متخصصة في مجال تكنولوجيا المعلومات؛ حيث سيستعرض الحضور توقعاتهم واحتياجاتهم من قطاع تكنولوجيا المعلومات، وسيتبادلون خبراتهم وآراءهم، بالإضافة إلى الحديث عن التحديات الحالية التي تواجههم.

خطوة

وفي هذا السياق، قال سعادة السيد محمد علي المناعي، رئيس هيئة تنظيم الاتصالات: «تعدّ هذه الحلقة النقاشية خطوة مهمة نحو إعداد استراتيجية الهيئة لقطاع تكنولوجيا المعلومات؛ حيث إنها ستوفر فرصة للاطلاع بشكل أفضل على الوضع الحالي للقطاع من خلال التعرف على آراء أصحاب المصلحة بشكل مباشر. كما تتماشى الاستراتيجية مع أهداف رؤية قطر الوطنية 2030، بحيث إنها ستساعد الهيئة على تطبيق صلاحياتها بشفافية بناءً على منهج استباقي، الذي سيساهم بدوره في ضمان استدامة تطور القطاع وازدهاره».

للوصول للشكل النهائي للاستراتيجية، يتطلب الأمر اتخاذ خطوات متعددة، بدءاً من إجراء الهيئة عملية تقييم للتوجهات الحديثة ولأفضل الممارسات في القطاع على المستويين الإقليمي والعالمي، ووصولاً إلى طرح الهيئة استشارة عامة ستأخذ من خلالها آراء وتعليقات أصحاب المصلحة بعين الاعتبار خلال عملية الإعداد النهائي للاستراتيجية الجديدة التي تخطط الهيئة لنشرها مع خطة العمل ذات الصلة في الربع الثاني من عام 2019.;
