QSTP & ConocoPhillips GWSC collaborate for another decade of research cooperation

Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP), part of Qatar Foundation Research, Development and Innovation (QF RDI), has renewed its partnership with ConocoPhillips Global Water Sustainability Center (GWSC) yesterday. It paves the way for another decade of research cooperation in the fields of water management, conservation and sustainability.

The signing ceremony, held at QSTP, was attended by distinguished guests and representatives from both entities, with Yosouf Abdulrahman Saleh, Executive Director, QSTP, and J. Todd Creeger, President, Qatar Business Unit for ConocoPhillips, signing the partnership renewal agreement.

The continued partnership between QSTP and GWSC signifies their joint resolve and commitment to address the pressing issue of water sustainability, in Qatar and globally, through applied research. The QSTP-based center has implemented more than 10 innovative research and technology projects related to oil and gas water management, along with filing six patent applications and contributing to more than 20 peer-reviewed journal publications.

Saleh said, “We are honoured to renew our partnership with ConocoPhillips GWSC today for another 10 years. Our joint commitment to developing sustainable water solutions through innovative and specialized research has always been the driving force behind our success over the past years.”

The GWSC is ConocoPhillips’ designated center of excellence for water-related technologies, disseminating findings to the company’s global operations, as well as local government and industry partners.

J. Todd Creeger, said, “We started a conversation in 2007, officially opened the doors in 2010, and in 2018 – almost a decade later – our central commitment to water is still as prevalent as it was back then.

“The GWSC has evolved from a sustainability start-up into a globally relevant problem-solver that addresses the needs of the nation and beyond. Owing our success to longstanding partnerships with Qatargas and Qatar Petroleum, amongst other industry, academic and research hubs, we continually tackle the world’s industry challenges to deliver fit-for-purpose solutions.”

جددت واحة قطر للعلوم والتكنولوجيا -عضو قطاع البحوث والتطوير والابتكار في مؤسسة قطر- أمس، شراكتها مع مركز «كونوكو فيليبس» لاستدامة المياه.

حضر حفل التوقيع، الذي عُقد في واحة قطر للعلوم والتكنولوجيا، لفيف من الضيوف وكبار المسؤولين من الجانبين، تقدّمهم السيد يوسف عبدالرحمن صالح المدير التنفيذي للواحة، والسيد تود كريجر رئيس وحدة أعمال «كونوكو فيليبس» في قطر، اللذين وقّعا اتفاقية تجديد الشراكة.

وقد تمكّن هذا المركز -الذي تحتضنه واحة قطر للعلوم والتكنولوجيا- من تنفيذ 10 مشاريع ابتكارية في مجال البحوث والتكنولوجيا ذات الصلة بإدارة المياه في صناعة النفط والغاز، فضلاً عن تقديم 6 طلبات براءة اختراع، والمساهمة في أكثر من 20 مقالة محكّمة من قبل النظراء.

وقال السيد يوسف عبدالرحمن صالح: «يشرفنا اليوم تجديد شراكتنا مع مركز «كونوكو فيليبس» لاستدامة المياه لـ 10 سنوات مقبلة. لقد كان التزامنا المشترك بتطوير حلول مائية مستدامة، من خلال البحوث الابتكارية المختصة، العامل الأساسي في إنجازاتنا التي تحققت خلال السنوات الماضية».

وقال الدكتور ريتشارد أوكيندي، نائب رئيس البحوث والتطوير والابتكار في مؤسسة قطر: «تُعدّ استدامة المياه وترشيد استخدامها، على قائمة الأولويات التنموية لدولة قطر، في إطار سعيها إلى بناء اقتصاد متنوع ومستدام. ومن هنا، يُسعدنا استمرار هذه الشراكة مع مركز كونوكو فيليبس لاستدامة المياه، وهو قائد عالمي في مجال البحوث وتوفير الحلول التكنولوجية الابتكارية ذات الصلة بالمياه».

ومن جهته، سلّط الدكتور سامر أدهم، مدير مركز «كونوكو فيليبس» لاستدامة المياه، الضوء على رؤية المركز ورسالته، قائلاً: «نسعى مع واحة قطر للعلوم والتكنولوجيا إلى إنشاء بيئة بحوث مائية شاملة للمساهمة الفعلية في مبادرات التنمية في قطر. ويُعدّ الماء في مركز كونوكو فيليبس لاستدامة المياه إرثنا وسبب وجودنا. وسوف تستمر مشاريعنا الحالية والمستقبلية في استكشاف تقنيات معالجة أكثر كفاءة وأقل تكلفة».;
