Rainfall Emergency Committee ensures smooth traffic flow

DOHA: The Rainfall Emergency Committee at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment swung into action immediately with the beginning of the rain to remove the water-logging from low-lying areas on priority basis.
The rainwater was removed from highways and streets across the country to ensure a smooth traffic flow.

“Rainfall emergency teams of municipality rushed to the sites to remove the rainwater with the beginning of rainfall,” said Safar Mubarak Al Shafi, Head of Rainfall Emergency Committee at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment.

He said that the teams will keep working round-the-clock at all municipalities until the rainwater was removed across the country.

“The operation of removing rainwater from low-laying areas in collaboration with authorities concerned helped ensure a smooth traffic flow at all highways resulting in a normal function of educational institutions, health centers and other governmental organisations,” said Al Shafi.

He said that a total of 48,200,323 gallons of rainwater was removed from Sunday 12 noon until yesterday carrying 6,877 tanker loads of rainwater.

“Rainfall Emergency Committee deployed 302 tankers, 63 pumping machines and 591 people of field teams to remove the water-logging,” said Al Shafi.

The municipal control rooms received 645 calls requesting to remove water-logging from their localities, said Al Shafi adding that the operation is continued to response all calls in clearing rainwater.

واصلت فرق طوارئ الأمطار بمختلف البلديات جهودها على مدار الساعة، للتعامل الفوري مع تجمعات المياه وسحبها أولاً بأول؛ حرصاً على أمن وسلامة المواطنين والمقيمين بالأحياء السكنية، ولضمان الانسيابية المرورية بالشوارع الرئيسية والطرق العامة بالدولة. وكشف السيد سفر مبارك آل شافي -مدير إدارة النظافة العام، رئيس لجنة طوارئ الأمطار بوزارة البلدية والبيئة- أن إجمالي ما سُحب في البلديات كافة منذ هطول الأمطار الأخيرة بلغ 48.200.323 جالون، جري نقلها في 6.877 نقلة، وعدد الصهاريج العاملة 302 صهريج، و63 مضخة، وأشرف على هذا العمل 591 فريق عمل ميداني، حرص على الاستجابة للبلاغات كافة المتسلّمة من غرفة عمليات البلديات، والتي وصلت إلى 645 بلاغاً، وما زالت عمليات السحب مستمرة لسحب التجمعات كافة وتنفيذ جميع البلاغات.

وأكد آل شافي أن فرق طوارئ البلدية باشرت عملها في سحب تجمعات المياه فور هطول الأمطار، موضحاً أنها مستمرة في مهامها بجميع مناطق البلاد حتى الانتهاء من سحب التجمعات كافة في مختلف المناطق.

مشيراً إلى أن الجهود المبذولة من الوزارة بالتنسيق مع الجهات كافة في الدولة أسفرت عن ضمان استمرار الحركة المرورية بسلاسة في الشوارع والطرق كافة، ومواصلة العمل بشكل طبيعي في المؤسسات التعليمية والمراكز الصحية وغيرها من المؤسسات في الدولة.;
