QNL and French Diplomatic Archives sign MoU
مذكرة تفاهم بين مكتبة قطر الوطنية والأرشيف الدبلوماسي الفرنسي
DOHA: Qatar National Library and the French Diplomatic Archives recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding for their collaboration in mutual areas of interest. The signing took place at the Library and was attended by senior members from both institutions.
The collaboration will allow for increased engagement, including joint research projects, between the two institutions.
Commenting on the agreement, Dr. Sohair Wastawy, Executive Director, Qatar National Library, said: ‘We are delighted to commence a collaborative relationship with the French Diplomatic Archives. This is the first step towards an exciting project to digitize the Archive’s historical records on Qatar and the Gulf region for the Qatar Digital Library. These records will greatly enrich our existing Gulf research collection and will benefit all those who are interested in the history and heritage of Qatar and the region.”
The agreement was signed by Dr. Wastawy, and Franck Gellet, Ambassador of France to Qatar, on behalf of the Diplomatic Archives.
Ambassador Gellet added: ‘We welcome the signing of this agreement which strengthens cultural cooperation between two important institutions. This collaboration will help develop high-quality research, and enable us to work on important digitization projects with the Archives.’
وقّعت مكتبة قطر الوطنية والأرشيف الدبلوماسي الفرنسي، مذكرة تفاهم للتعاون في المجالات ذات الاهتمام المشترك.
وتتيح هذه الاتفاقية المبرمة تعزيز التفاعل والتعاون بين المؤسستين، وخاصة في مشاريع البحوث المشتركة.
وقالت الدكتورة سهير وسطاوي، المدير التنفيذي لمكتبة قطر الوطنية في تصريح اليوم، إن مذكرة التفاهم هي الخطوة الأولى في مشروع طموح لرقمنة السجلات والوثائق التاريخية في الأرشيف الدبلوماسي الفرنسي حول قطر ومنطقة الخليج ونشرها في مكتبة قطر الرقمية، منوهة بأن من شأن هذه الخطة، إثراء الوثائق والسجلات التاريخية لمجموعة المكتبة البحثية الحالية حول منطقة الخليج ، كما ستخدم جميع المهتمين بالتاريخ والتراث في دولة قطر والمنطقة.
من جهته، قال سعادة السيد فرانك جوليه سفير الجمهورية الفرنسية لدى الدولة: “إننا نرحب بتوقيع هذه الاتفاقية التي ستعزز أواصر التعاون الثقافي بين هاتين المؤسستين المهمتين، وهو تعاون سيدعم الأبحاث رفيعة المستوى، ويمكننا من بدء العمل في مشاريع الرقمنة المهمة لوثائق الأرشيف”.
جدير بالذكر أن توقيع الاتفاقية الذي حضره كبار المسؤولين من كلا المؤسستين كان بين الدكتورة سهير وسطاوي، المدير التنفيذي لمكتبة قطر الوطنية، بالنيابة عن المكتبة، وسعادة السيد فرانك جوليه سفير الجمهورية الفرنسية لدى الدولة، بالنيابة عن الأرشيف الدبلوماسي الفرنسي.
