Qatar submits nomination file to IMO membership

Al Sulaiti meets IMO Secretary-General

Minister of Transport and Communications, H E Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti held talks with the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Kitack Lim, at IMO’s premises in London yesterday.

The Minister submitted to IMO Secretary-General Qatar’s candidature file to the membership of the Organization executive council under category “C”.

Bilateral relations between Qatar and IMO in the field of marine transport and ways to develop them were discussed.

The meeting was attended by Qatar’s Ambassador to the UK, Yousef bin Ali Al Khater.

In a related context, the Minister headed Qatar’s delegation to IMO Council meetings, which started yesterday in London to discuss the executive activities and policies of the Organization as well as financial matters.

عقد سعادة السيد جاسم بن سيف السليطي وزير المواصلات والاتصالات، اجتماعاً مع سعادة السيد كيتاك ليم الأمين العام للمنظمة البحرية الدولية (IMO)، قدم خلاله سعادة الوزير ملف ترشح دولة قطر لعضوية المجلس التنفيذي في المنظمة ضمن الفئة «C»، لسعادة أمين عام المنظمة.

واستعرض الاجتماع -الذي عقد يوم أمس الأربعاء- بمقر المنظمة في لندن، العلاقات بين دولة قطر والمنظمة في مجال صناعة النقل البحري، والسبل الكفيلة بدعمها وتطويرها. وحضر الاجتماع سعادة السيد يوسف بن علي الخاطر سفير دولة قطر لدى المملكة المتحدة.

وفي سياق متصل؛ ترأس سعادة السيد السليطي وفد دولة قطر في أعمال مجلس المنظمة البحرية الدولية (IMO)، والمنعقد في العاصمة لندن، ويبحث النشاطات والسياسات التنفيذية للمنظمة، وكذلك القضايا المالية.;
