Prime Minister inaugurates Manateq warehousing parks

Doha: Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani inaugurated Manateq warehousing parks in Umm Salal, yesterday.

The Prime Minister listened to a detailed briefing on the project, working mechanisms and capacity, in addition to the services it will provide in compliance with the highest global standards to facilitate the growth of the industrial and service sectors. At the end of the ceremony, Prime Minister honoured the project developers.

The inauguration ceremony, which was held at Bu Fesseela warehousing park, was attended by a number of Their Excellencies Ministers, senior officials from the public and private sector and representatives project developers.

The completion of this landmark project is in line with the government’s thrust to encourage public-private partnerships (PPPs) in major projects and the contribution of the private sector in the state’s development projects.

In 2014, Manateq invited developers in the field of warehousing and logistics services to tender for the construction of the four warehousing parks projects. Following the tendering process, contracts for the project were awarded to four developers on a ‘Build – Operate – Transfer’ (BOT) basis.

The four companies were Gulf Warehousing Company (GWC) for Bu Sulba warehousing park, Al Asmakh Real Estate Development for Bu Fesseela, Dohatna Logistics Parks for Umm Shaharaine 1, and Barwa Real Estate Group for Umm Shaharaine 2.

Talking about the completion of the warehousing parks project, Fahad Rashid Al Kaabi, CEO of Manateq, said: “We are delighted to announce the completion of this first-of-its-kind project that supports Manateq’s vision to promote economic diversification in investments that add value to Qatar and underlines its mission to create a world-class business environment for local and overseas investors, to help meet the Qatar National Vision 2030”.

He added: “The warehousing parks is set to become Qatar’s classic example of world-class logistic parks that reflect our trust in the private sector and its commitment to provide quality warehousing facility with the best of infrastructure, designs, construction quality and connectivity”.

Manateq will continue to be a catalyst for growth of a robust private sector in Qatar and thereby positively contribute in the economic growth of Qatar, he added.P2

Khamis Al Mohannadi, President of Technical Committee to Stimulate Private Sector Participation in Economic Development Projects said, “The successful completion of the warehousing parks development is yet another milestone in our drive to stimulate more economic and commercial activities in Qatar and contributing effectively to the achievement of the ‘economic development pillar’ within the framework of Qatar National Vision 2030.”

He added:“The project demonstrates our continued sustainable future growth for everyone by enabling companies to operate easily and flexibly, providing better access to developing markets and optimising resource consumption by providing ready-to-use warehousing options that meet all storage requirements, including food products. This in turn will ease the burden on investors, and supports the process of economic diversification in the country.” He said in recent years, Qatar has succeeded in strengthening its economic position and engaging in the globalised economic space, effectively and efficiently, translated by registered growth rates, which is expected to reach about 2.8 percent during the current year.

He said it is one of the highest growth rates in the region according to International Economic Organisations, and is expected to reach 3 percent in 2019, supported by the dynamics of the non-oil sectors, which is expected to grow by at least 6 percent, driven by the private sector contribution that recorded a sound growth over the past year not less than 5 percent, which requires continued investment in supporting infrastructure projects such as the warehousing parks.

The Prime Minister honoured the project developers and visited the site of the warehouses and was briefed on their volume and capacity.

حضر الافتتاح عدد من أصحاب السعادة الوزراء وكبار المسؤولين من القطاعين الحكومي والخاص، وممثلون عن الشركات المنفذة للمشروع. وقد استمع معاليه إلى شرح تفصيلي حول المشروع وآليات عمله وطاقته الاستيعابية، بجانب الخدمات التي سيقدمها وفق أعلى المعايير العالمية لتسهيل نمو قطاعَي الصناعة والخدمات.

وفي ختام الحفل، كرم معالي رئيس مجلس الوزراء وزير الداخلية، الشركات المنفذة للمشروع.

وعقب الحفل قام معاليه بجولة تفقدية داخل مناطق التخزين، اطلع خلالها على حجمها وسعتها الاستيعابية.

عبدالله بن ناصر: مناطق التخزين محطة بارزة

أكد معالي الشيخ عبدالله بن ناصر بن خليفة آل ثاني رئيس مجلس الوزراء وزير الداخلية، أمس في تغريدة على حسابه الرسمي بموقع «توتير»، على أن مناطق التخزين الأربع تمثّل محطة بارزة في تعزيز مسيرة التنوع الاقتصادي لدولة قطر. وقال معاليه: «سعِدنا بافتتاح مشروع مناطق التخزين الأربع، الذي يمثّل محطة بارزة في تعزيز مسيرة التنوع الاقتصادي لدولة #قطر،

وسعيُنا المتواصل لتمكين الشركات من مزاولة أعمالها بسهولة ومرونة من خلال توفير مليوني متر مربع من حلول التخزين، وذلك بالشراكة بين القطاعين العام والخاص».

حجي: تأجير «أم شهرين 2» بالكامل

أكد مدير تطوير المشروع المهندس عبدالله حجي بشركة بروة العقارية المنفذة لمشروع «أم شهرين 2» أن التنفيذ الفعلي للمشروع بدأ في مايو 2016، وتم الانتهاء من المشروع بالكامل خلال ديسمبر 2017، لافتاً إلى أن المشروع تم تأجيره بالكامل ولمدة 10 سنوات لشركات القطاع الخاص المحلي.

ولفت إلى أن مساحة أرض المشروع 500 ألف متر مربع، فيما تبلغ مساحة التخزين نحو 260 متراً مربعاً، لافتاً إلى أن المشروع يتكون من مخازن متنوعة موزعة على النحو التالي: (9 مخازن جافة، و5 مخازن مكيفة، ومخزنان مبردان، ومخزن واحد مجمد، و12 مخزناً صغيراً)، بالإضافة إلى خدمات مساندة من سكن العمال والمحلات التجارية.

وأشار إلى أن المشروع يهدف إلى دعم قطاع التخزين في الدولة وتوفير بيئة متكاملة من وحدات التخزين ذات الجودة العالية ومرافق خدمية مساندة.

خليفة بن جاسم: مناطق التخزين تدعم الاقتصاد

قال سعادة الشيخ خليفة بن جاسم بن محمد آل ثاني -رئيس غرفة قطر- إن المناطق التخزينية الأربع التي افتُتحت أمس في إطار مبادرة حكومية تعكس الشراكة الحقيقية بين القطاعين العام والخاص، سوف يكون لها دور مهم في مواكبة التطور الاقتصادي الذي تشهده الدولة، وذلك من خلال زيادة الطاقة الاستيعابية للتخزين. وأشار سعادة رئيس «الغرفة»، في تصريحات صحافية على هامش حفل الافتتاح، إلى أن مشروع المناطق التخزينية -التي قامت بتنفيذها 4 شركات قطرية من القطاع الخاص في 4 مناطق مختلفة- بُنيت وفق أحدث المعايير والمواصفات العالمية، وسوف تساهم في دعم أعمال القطاع الخاص، وخصوصاً الشركات الصغيرة والمتوسطة، من خلال تقديم مساحات تخزينية بأسعار تنافسية مناسبة؛ مما يدعم القدرة التنافسية لهذه الشركات، ويعزز دورها في الاقتصاد الوطني.

وأوضح أنه مع التوسع الذي يشهده الاقتصاد الوطني، برزت الحاجة إلى مناطق تخزين جديدة لتلبية الطلب المتنامي على التخزين، ومن ثم فإن هذا المشروع سوف يوازن معادلة العرض والطلب، بما يمكّن الشركات من تخزين المواد الأولية بأسعار تنافسية تساهم في تقليل السعر النهائي للسلع.;
