Hamad Port given high commendation at IHS DPC Innovation Awards

Doha: Hamad Port – Qatar’s main gateway to world trade was awarded high commendation in the Coastal Dredging Project of the year category at the inaugural IHS DPC Innovation Awards held on November 20 in Amsterdam with the participation of a large number of industry experts, ports and shipping companies’ senior officials, maritime organisations and operators of stations.

The IHS DPC Innovation Awards celebrate the sector’s most innovative and forward-thinking projects which change the industry through new ideas, processes, technology or equipment. It is organised annually by the industry’s leading trade magazine, IHS Dredging & Port Construction, to recognise outstanding innovation and technological contributions made by the dredging and port construction industry.

Hamad port was shortlisted in three categories out of fifteen categories that the annual award celebrates amid great competition from ports and various industry fields.

The commendation from the IHS DPC Innovation Awards comes in recognition of the global standards adopted by Hamad Port and the enhanced infrastructure of the environmentally friendly port technology in the world, which has contributed to strengthen the port’s position not only in the region, but worldwide. It also underscores Qatar’s success in developing mega infrastructure projects in line with the highest international standards.

The commendation was awarded to Hamad Port for the use of unique systems in the construction and excavation of the port basin, which was built on land in a rare operation of its kind in international ports.

With depths of up to 18 meters and 10 km long, Hamad Port basin construction took about two and a half years of excavation, during which more than 6,900 tonnes of explosives were used to challenge the drafts – with full commitment to preserving wildlife and marine life – to extract more than 44.5 million cubic meters of dredged material, which was used in other construction activities in the project, resulting in huge savings for the project.

Thanks to the unlimited support of the government and the great role played by the Ministry of Transport and Communications represented by Mwani Qatar, Hamad Port was able to occupy a prominent position among regional and international ports within a short period of its operation, gaining the confidence of international shipping lines, establishing itself as one of the pivotal ports in the region that is reliable in the development of the international maritime trade.

حصل ميناء حمد بوابة قطر الرئيسية للتجارة مع العالم على شهادة من مجلة آي أتش اس للتجريف وبناء الموانئ “IHS DPC” كأهم مشروع في الحفر والتجريف وبناء الموانئ، وذلك خلال حفل توزيع جوائز التجريف وبناء الموانئ DPC2018 الذي عقد الثلاثاء الماضي بالعاصمة الهولندية امستردام وسط حضور كبير من خبراء القطاع وكبار المسؤولين في العديد من الموانئ وشركات الشحن ومشغلي المحطات والمنظمات البحرية في العالم.

وتحتفي جوائز DPC بمشاريع القطاع الأكثر ابتكارا والتي تغير صناعة الموانئ من خلال الأفكار الجديدة أو العمليات أو التكنولوجيا أو المعدات.

ويتم تنظيم الجائزة سنويا من قبل IHS DPC، المجلة التجارية الرائدة في هذه الصناعة، والتي تركز على المشاريع المبتكرة والمساهمات التكنولوجية التي تقدمها الصناعة في هذا المجال.. وكان ميناء حمد قد تمكن من الدخول في القائمة القصيرة لـ 3 فئات من أصل 15 فئة تحتفي بها الجائزة السنوية وسط تنافس كبير من الموانئ ومجالات الصناعة المختلفة.

وتأتي الشهادة من المجلة الدولية اعترافا بالمعايير العالمية التي يتبناها ميناء حمد والبنية التحتية المتطورة المعززة لتكنولوجيا الموانئ الصديقة للبيئة في العالم والتي ساهمت في تبوؤه مكانة متقدمة ليس على مستوى موانئ المنطقة فحسب بل على مستوى العالم. كما تؤكد على نجاح دولة قطر في تطوير مشاريع البنية التحتية العملاقة وفق أعلى المعايير العالمية. وتم منح الشهادة لميناء حمد لتبنيه أنظمة فريدة من نوعها في عملية البناء وحفر حوض الميناء الذي تم بناؤه على اليابسة وهي عملية نادرة من نوعها في الموانئ العالمية. وقد استغرق بناء حوض ميناء حمد الذي يصل طوله الى 10 كم، وعمقه 18مترا نحو عامين ونصف من الحفر، حيث استخدم خلال عملية الحفر أكثر من 6900 طن من المتفجرات لتحدي صلابة الصخور – مع الالتزام الكامل بالحفاظ على الحياة البرية والبحرية- وذلك لاستخراج أكثر من 44.5 مليون متر مكعب من الرمل والحجارة الصلبة والتي تم استخدامها هي الاخرى في أنشطة البناء في المشروع مما كان له دور كبير في توفير تكاليف المشروع.

واستطاع ميناء حمد أن يتبوأ مكانة مرموقة بين الموانئ العالمية خلال فترة وجيزة من تشغيله مما أكسبه ثقة خطوط الشحن العالمية بفضل الدعم اللامحدود من حكومتنا الرشيدة والدور الكبير الذي قامت به وزارة المواصلات والاتصالات ممثلة بشركة مواني قطر في الترويج لميناء حمد اقليميا ودوليا ليصبح بذلك في مصاف الموانئ المحورية في المنطقة والتي يعول عليها في تنمية التجارة البحرية العالمية. وقد تمكن الميناء الأحدث من نوعه في المنطقة من إحداث تحول نوعي في تنويع الاقتصاد القطري وتعزيز القدرة التنافسية من خلال دوره في تأمين الاستيراد وإعادة تصدير السلع والبضائع بفضل شبكة الخطوط الملاحية الواسعة التي نجحت مواني قطر في بنائها تماشيا مع خطة وزارة المواصلات والاتصالات الاستراتيجية والهادفة لتعزيز مكانة ميناء حمد وتحويل دولة قطر إلى مركز تجاري إقليمي نابض في المنطقة.
