QU-CENG, Khatib & Alami sign research agreement

DOHA: Qatar University College of Engineering (QU-CENG) represented by Qatar Transportation and Traffic Safety Center (QTTSC) signed a research agreement with Khatib & Alami (K&A) to establish collaboration in the field of research, consultancy and knowledge transfer.

The agreement was signed by QU Vice-President for Academic Affairs, Dr Omar Al Ansari and K&A Senior Vice -President, Eng. Ramadan Harb in the presence of officials from both institutions. The agreement aims to establish collaboration between QU and K&A in the academic, research and student training and field support, as well as the exchange of information and consultancy.

In terms of the MoU, QTTSC will provide K&A with consultancy and workshops covering the areas of transportation and traffic safety, smart transportation, and geotechnical studies. CENG faculty will also support K&A projects by ensuring knowledge transfer and progressive development of existing projects, while K&A will offer training to some of CENG students, as well as technical and technological support to QTTSC at all levels.

Commenting on the agreement, CENG Dean Prof Abdelmagid Hammuda said, “The agreement highlights CENG and QTTSC continuous efforts to provide solutions to local challenges, in line with national priorities towards a knowledge-based economy. It will also serve to facilitate knowledge and technology transfer and provide consultancy and research services, which will contribute to driving socio-economic development and sustainability in the State of Qatar.”

Eng. Ramadan Harb said, “K&A has been collaborating with leading institutions in the region and around the world. It is a pleasure to join efforts with Qatar University, which we’re already engaged with on multiple state of the art projects such as the new College of Engineering, new College Pharmacy, new College of Law, new College of Education and the new Student Affairs Building.”

“This long term agreement will also benefit QU engineering students by equipping them with real time exposure to the key design stages of major multimillion dollar public work projects such as Qatar North, Salwa Underground Reservoir and Phase 4 of Inner Doha Roads,” he added.

Harb also added, “As education is on top of national priorities and the sustainable development pillars, Khatib & Alami believes that academia should go hand in hand with industry professionals in order to translate theory into practical application and will strive to support elite researchers with guidance across relevant areas of interest in line with Qatar’s National Traffic Safety Strategy”.

وقعت جامعة قطر، ممثلة بمركز قطر للنقل والسلامة المرورية في كلية الهندسة بالجامعة، ومكتب خطيب وعلمي (شركة الاتحاد الهندسي) للاستشارات الهندسية، أمس، اتفاقية تعاون بحثي، بحضور الدكتور عمر الأنصاري نائب رئيس جامعة قطر للشؤون الأكاديمية، وعميد كلية الهندسة، وعدد من مسؤولي مكتب خطيب وعلمي للاستشارات الهندسية، بالإضافة لمنتسبي جامعة قطر وكلية الهندسة.

تهدف الاتفاقية للتعاون في تبادل المعلومات والخبرات في مجال النقل والسلامة المرورية، بالإضافة إلى تنمية وتعزيز التعاون المشترك بين الطرفين، وذلك للاستفادة من الإمكانيات المشتركة في المجالات البحثية والاستشارية وخدمة المجتمع، وتحفيز التنمية الاقتصادية والاجتماعية المستدامة لدولة قطر، وانطلاقاً من رغبة كلا الطرفين في تفعيل الشراكة المجتمعية، وتسهيل نقل المعرفة والتكنولوجيا بينهما.

وقال الدكتور عمر الأنصاري نائب رئيس الجامعة للشؤون الأكاديمية: «تأتي هذه الاتفاقية استمراراً لسلسلة الاتفاقيات مع القطاع الخاص، ومكتب خطيب وعلمي (شركة الاتحاد الهندسي) للاستشارات الهندسية، وحرصاً من الجامعة على تقديم خدمات بحثية واستشارية مميزة، وتحفيز التنمية الاقتصادية والاجتماعية المستدامة لدولة قطر، وانطلاقاً من رغبتنا في تفعيل الشراكة المجتمعية، وتسهيل نقل المعرفة والتكنولوجيا مع المكتب».

وأضاف: «تؤكد الاتفاقية سعي جامعة قطر المستمر لإيجاد حلول للتحديات التي تواجه القطاعات في الدولة، ولتوسيع سبل التعاون بين الطرفين بما يخدم المؤسسات المحلية، تماشياً مع الأولويات الوطنية نحو الاقتصاد القائم على المعرفة».

وقال المهندس رمضان حرب: «تعتبر الاتفاقية دليل حرص مكتب خطيب وعلمي (شركة الاتحاد الهندسي) للاستشارات الهندسية على التعاون مع جامعة قطر في مختلف المجالات البحثية والاستشارية».

وقال الأستاذ الدكتور عبدالمجيد حمودة عميد كلية الهندسة: «تأتي هذه الاتفاقيات مكملة لسلسلة الخدمات النوعية التي تقدمها كلية الهندسة لمؤسسات قطر وللمجتمع، علماً بأن الكلية تتواصل حالياً مع الشركاء في القطاع الخاص ضمن الفعاليات والمشاريع والمبادرات المشتركة، وكذلك تدريب الطلبة ودمجهم ضمن المشاريع الكبرى في الدولة».

وذكر الدكتور فارس تارلوتشان، مدير مركز قطر للنقل والسلامة المرورية: «تحظى السلامة المرورية باهتمام كبير في دولة قطر حيث أنشأت الدولة اللجنة الوطنية للسلامة المرورية، وفي يناير 2013 تم تدشين الاستراتيجية الوطنية للسلامة المرورية (2013-2022)، لتعزيز التزام قطر بالحدّ من حوادث الطرق».;
