Qatar, Russia discuss bilateral relations

DOHA: The Speaker of the Advisory Council, H E Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud, met yesterday with the Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Ilyas Umakhanov, and his accompanying delegation.

During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations between the State of Qatar and the Russian Federation and ways of supporting and developing them, especially in the parliamentary field. A number of issues of mutual concern were also reviewed.

The Advisory Council Speaker praised the great development witnessed by the Qatari-Russian relations, especially in the economic field.

He also spoke about the country’s economic and legislative renaissance and its progress in various fields of development despite the unjust siege imposed on it.

For his part, the Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation congratulated the Advisory Council Speaker on the selection of the State of Qatar to host the next session of the General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in April.

He affirmed that the State of Qatar deserved to host the next session due to its wise policies, active roles and well-established relationships with different countries of the world.

Ilyas Umakhanov hailed Qatar’s achievements and economic and political successes, expressing his satisfaction with its growing relations with the Russian Federation. The meeting was attended by Deputy Speaker of the Advisory Council H E Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Sulaiti, a number of Advisory Council’s members, and Russian Ambassador to Qatar Noor Mohammad Khulouf.

اجتمع سعادة السيد أحمد بن عبدالله بن زيد آل محمود رئيس مجلس الشورى، أمس، مع سعادة السيد إلياس أوماخانوف نائب رئيس مجلس الاتحاد للجمعية الفيدرالية لروسيا الاتحادية، والوفد المرافق له.

تم خلال الاجتماع بحث العلاقات الثنائية بين دولة قطر وروسيا الاتحادية، وسبل دعمها وتطويرها، خاصة في المجال البرلماني، كما جرى استعراض عدد من القضايا ذات الاهتمام المشترك.

وتحدث سعادة رئيس مجلس الشورى، خلال الاجتماع، مشيداً بالتطور الكبير الذي تشهده العلاقات القطرية الروسية، خاصة في المجال الاقتصادي، وتناول في حديثه ما تشهده البلاد من نهضة اقتصادية وتشريعية، وما تحققه من تقدم في مختلف مجالات التنمية، رغم الحصار الجائر المفروض عليها.

ومن جانبه، تحدث سعادة نائب رئيس مجلس الاتحاد للجمعية الفيدرالية لروسيا الاتحادية مهنئاً سعادة رئيس مجلس الشورى على اختيار دولة قطر لاستضافة الدورة المقبلة للجمعية العامة للاتحاد البرلماني الدولي في شهر أبريل المقبل، مؤكداً أن دولة قطر استحقت هذا الاختيار بفضل ما تتمتع به من سياسات حكيمة وأدوار فاعلة وعلاقات راسخة مع مختلف دول العالم.

وأشاد سعادة السيد إلياس أوماخانوف بإنجازات دولة قطر ونجاحاتها الاقتصادية والسياسية، مبدياً ارتياحه لعلاقاتها المتنامية مع روسيا الاتحادية.

حضر الاجتماع سعادة السيد محمد بن عبدالله السليطي نائب رئيس مجلس الشورى، وعدد من أعضاء المجلس، وسعادة السيد نور محمد خولوف سفير روسيا الاتحادية لدى الدولة.;
