Qatar Charity receives top honour from Pakistan’s NDMA

DOHA: National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), a government institution in Pakistan, has honoured Qatar Charity (QC) in recognition of its humanitarian and development efforts in the country.

Qatar Charity was awarded a certificate of excellence and shield of honor by NDMA during a ceremony, which was attended by government officials and representatives of UN agencies, international organizations and donors.

Shafqat Mahmoud, Minister of Education, and Lieutenant General Omar Hayat, Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), handed over the certificate of excellence and the shield of honour to Mohammed Waqas, program officer at QC’s office in Pakistan.

This honour reflects a high level of confidence of the Government of Pakistan in the humanitarian and development role played by Qatar Charity. The honour also shows the government’s appreciation for QC’s efforts in the implementation of different projects in various fields and its impact on improving the lives of beneficiaries.

On this occasion, NDMA has also honoured some 11 international humanitarian organizations and donors operating through their offices and representations in Islamabad, including UNICEF, the Asian Development Bank and the Turkish Red Crescent.

QC’s office in Pakistan has previously received many shields from many local NGOs, and letters of thanks and appreciation from the local and municipal councils in Punjab and Sindh provinces, in recognition of the role of various programs, projects and activities carried out by Qatar Charity there.

The office has enjoyed the confidence of international organizations, and it was rated as a highly professional partner compatible with all the standards and policies of donors, according to periodic evaluations conducted by UNICEF for the performance of its partners.

Qatar Charity and UNICEF have been cooperating in the implementation of projects in Pakistan since 2010, the most recent of which is the project, which is being implemented in the Shorkot region, with joint funding from both sides, and will last for two years starting from last July.

The number of branch offices in Pakistan during this period reached four field offices located in Swat, Rajanpur, Tando Muhammad Khan, Mirpur Khas, in addition to an office in the Shorkot region for a project implemented in cooperation with UNICEF. Qatar Charity also sponsors more than 2,000 people in the Kashmir region

حظيت «قطر الخيرية» بتكريم جديد، تقديراً لجهودها الإنسانية والتنموية في باكستان، حيث تم منحها شهادة التميز ودرع الشرف من قبل الهيئة الوطنية لإدارة الكوارث (مؤسسة حكومية) في حفل أقامته بهذه المناسبة، بحضور مسؤولين حكوميين وممثلين عن وكالات الأمم المتحدة والمنظمات الدولية والجهات المانحة. وقام كل من السيد شفقت محمود، وزير التعليم، والفريق عمر حياة محمود، ضيف الشرف الرئيسي في الحفل، ورئيس الهيئة الوطنية لإدارة الكوارث، بتسليم شهادة التكريم ودرع الشرف إلى السيد محمد وقاص، مسؤول البرامج بمكتب قطر الخيرية في باكستان.

ويعكس هذا التكريم مستوى عالياً من ثقة حكومة باكستان في الدور الإنساني والتنموي لـ «قطر الخيرية»، وتقديرها لما تنفذه من مشاريع في المجالات المختلفة، وحجم الأثر في تحسين حياة المستفيدين. وإلى جانب «قطر الخيرية»، كرّمت الهيئة الوطنية لإدارة الكوارث بباكستان 11 منظمة إنسانية دولية وجهة مانحة تعمل من خلال مكاتبها وممثلاتها في إسلام آباد، منها: «اليونيسف»، والبنك الآسيوي للتنمية، والهلال الأحمر التركي.

دروع سابقة

وسبق لمكتب قطر الخيرية في باكستان أن استلم العديد من دروع الشكر والتقدير من بعض المنظمات المحلية غير الحكومية، إضافة إلى خطابات شكر من المجالس المحلية والبلدية في إقليمي البنجاب والسند، عرفاناً بدور البرامج والمشاريع والأنشطة المختلفة التي تنفذها «قطر الخيرية» هناك.

كما حظي المكتب بثقة المنظمات الدولية، ووفقاً للتقييمات الدورية التي تجريها «اليونيسيف» لأداء شركائها وعمليات المراجعة الخارجية من قبل شركات متخصصة لحسابات المشاريع التي ينفذونها، فقد جاء في تصنيف «قطر الخيرية» أنها «على قدر عالٍ من الاحتراف، ومتوافقة مع جميع معايير وسياسات الجهات المانحة».

وتعاونت «قطر الخيرية» و»اليونيسف» -وما تزالان- في تنفيذ مشاريع بباكستان منذ عام 2010، وآخرها المشروع الذي ينفذ في منطقة «شوركوت» بتمويل مشترك من الجهتين، يستمر لمدة سنتين ابتداءً من يوليو الماضي.

تطور مستمر

يذكر أن مكتب قطر الخيرية في باكستان تأسس عام 1992، وهو العام الذي صادف لجوء الآلاف من اللاجئين الأفغان إلى باكستان، وخلال الفترة من 2014-2018 تم تنفيذ العديد من المشاريع في مختلف المجالات: (المياه والإصحاح، والمراكز الصحية، والمساجد، والإغاثة، وغير ذلك). ووصل عدد المكاتب الفرعية خلال هذه الفترة إلى 4 مكاتب ميدانية بباكستان في كل من (سوات، وراجنبور، وتاندو محمد خان، وميربور خاص)، إضافة إلى مكتب في منطقة شوركوت خاص بمشروع ينفذ بالتعاون مع «اليونيسيف»، فضلاً عن كفالات في منطقة كشمير، تصل لأكثر من 2000 مكفول.;
