PM to address IPEC today

DOHA: The first International Products Exhibition and Conference (IPEC Qatar) will begin today under the patronage of Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani at the Doha Exhibition and Conferences Center (DECC). The Prime Minister will deliver the opening keynote speech in the first session of the largest trade event of the year.

The exhibition features more than 360 companies from Qatar and the participating countries. Over 2,000 individuals have registered to attend IPEC, which will witness four discussion forums and presentations by 22 senior officials. The three-day event will feature international pavilions showcasing Qatar’s trade partners. The event represents investment opportunities for SMEs where investors will benefit from direct access to projects in Qatar and meeting with key decision-makers.

After the PM’s address, Miguel Angel Moratinos, former foreign minister of Spain will deliver a keynote speech.

There will be a panel discussion during the session which will see comments from Minister of Finance H E Ali Shareef Al Emadi; Minister of Economy and Commerce H E Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim Al Thani, and Qatar Chamber Chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani. Ruhsar Pekcan, Minister of Trade, Turkey; Omar Bahi, Minister of Commerce, Tunisia; Qais Mohammed Al Yusuf, Chairman, Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry will also share their views in the panel discussion.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, Akbar Al Baker, and Hassan Al Ibrahim, Acting Chairman of Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) will also speak during the next sessions.

Hassan Al Ibrahim said in a statement that IPEC will shed light on a number of economic challenges in the Middle East, North Africa and Central Asia.

“Government delegations and companies from 11 friendly countries that have been supporting Qatar since the imposition of the blockade on Qatar are taking part in IPEC along with more than 19 Qatari government and semi-government organisations,” he said.

“Qatar’s unique offerings make it a premium destination in the region for hosting key business events. Today, Qatar is accessible from all over the world and 73 percent of the world’s population can enter the country visa-free.”

He added that Qatar’s hospitality industry offers the best guest experience in the Middle East, in addition to an abundance of local expertise and resources, complemented by the support QTA extends to sector stakeholders, empowering them to the host world-class business events.

تنطلق اليوم الاثنين، فعاليات المعرض والمؤتمر الدولي للمنتجات (IPEC 2018)، وذلك برعاية معالي الشيخ عبدالله بن ناصر بن خليفة آل ثاني رئيس مجلس الوزراء وزير الداخلية.

ويقام هذا الحدث للمرة الأولى، إذ ينتظر أن يجمع خلال أيامه الثلاثة، عدداً كبيراً من المشاركين، الذين يمثلون 11 دولة، وقفت إلى جانب دولة قطر في مواجهة الحصار الجائر المفروض عليها من قبل 3 بلدان خليجية، وذلك من يونيو من العام الماضي.

ويعد الحدث بمثابة مبادرة ترمي إلى الاحتفاء بعلاقات دولة قطر بشركائها، وتعزيز الروابط التجارية والعلاقات المتبادلة معها.

وقد أكد رجال أعمال ومستثمرون لـ «العرب» الأهمية الكبيرة التي يتمتع بها الحدث الذي يحتضنه مركز الدوحة للمعارض والمؤتمرات، نظراً لقدرته على توفير الفرص المواتية لبحث فرص الأعمال والاستثمار بين دولة قطر والشركاء.

وشدد هؤلاء على أن إقامة المؤتمر والمعرض، من شأنها التأكيد على قدرة دولة قطر على الانفتاح التجاري والاستثماري مع سائر دول العالم، من دون الاضطرار إلى التعامل مع بلدان الحصار، التي فقدت السوق القطري الذي يمتلك فرص نمو هائلة.

يمتاز هذا الحدث بتنوّع فعالياته وتزامنها، بما يجعل منه منصّة متكاملة للأعمال تجمع المستثمرين المحليين والأجانب، وأصحاب الأعمال، والمنتجين، فضلاً عن المستهلكين تحت سقف واحد.

ويتيح هذا التزامن للمشاركين في المعرض فرصة لا تعوّض للاطّلاع مباشرة على الفرص التجارية التي يوفّرها السوق القطري في مختلف القطاعات.

كما يتيح حضور مجموعة واسعة من الوزارات والهيئات الحكومية القطرية للمشاركين في المعرض فرصة لقاء المسؤولين وجهاً لوجه، وعقد الشراكات والاتفاقيات مباشرة خلال فترة المعرض.

ومن الجانب القطري، يتيح الحدث لأصحاب المشاريع والتجّار القطريين فرصة لقاء عدد كبير من الشركاء والمورّدين الدوليين المؤهلين لدعم مشاريعهم وأعمالهم، والمساهمة في النمو المتواصل للاقتصاد القطري.;
