Over 1.3 million gallons of rainwater removed
سحب مليون و 365 ألف جالون من مياه الأمطار في 3 بلديات
DOHA: The Ministry of Municipality and Environment represented by the Joint Rainfall Emergency Committee has removed over 1.3 million gallons of rainwater from several low-lying areas.
“A total of 1,365,160 gallons of rainwater in 390 tanker loads were removed from Al Rayan, Umm Salal and Al Daayen Municipalities,” said Safar Mubarak Al Shafi, the Head of the Joint Rainfall Emergency Committee and Director of General Cleanliness Department at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment.
He said that the operation to clear the water-logging which started yesterday afternoon was carried out with the help of a number of teams comprising 105 workers. “A total of 72 water tankers were also pressed in service. The control rooms of the municipalities received 58 calls to clear the water-logging which were responded completely, he added.
“The operation continues to remove the remaining water-logging caused by the rain,” said Al Shafi adding that emergency teams were prepared in coordination with weather bureau according to the rainfall forecast.
Qatar lashed yesterday from scattered rain to downpour at places including north-east at Umm Bab area and some western parts of the country. Pretty good rainfall also reported at placed in Doha especially at Abu-Hamour Central Market and other areas.
Qatar Meteorology Department (QMD) has the forecast of thunderstorms accompanied with strong wind which is expected to continue until Monday. “According to latest weather charts, unsettled weather condition resulting from an extension of a low-pressure system expected to continue affecting the country until Monday evening,” said QMD.
The Department said scattered thunderstorms are likely to continue accompanies with a strong wind at times causing rising dust and poor visibility. QMD asked people to be cautious, avoiding marine activities and follow the latest updates through its official social media accounts.
The Department has warned of thunderstorms expected at places associated with a sudden strong wind at times today. Today it will be misty at places by dawn becoming partly cloudy to cloudy with scattered rain and chances of thunderstorms associated with blowing dust at places at times, according to the weather report.
أعلن السيد سفر مبارك آل شافي مدير إدارة النظافة العامة بوزارة البلدية والبيئة ورئيس لجنة طوارىء الأمطار إن فرق طوارىء الأمطار بالبلديات قامت بسحب (1،365،160) جالون من مياه الأمطار من بعد ظهر اليوم الخميس في حدود بلديات الريان وام صلال والظعاين، وبلغ إجمالي عدد النقلات (390) نقلة.
وأكد إن فرق العمل وعددها (105) عاملاً شاركوا في جهود سحب تجمعات مياه الأمطار ، فيما بلغ عدد الصهاريج العاملة (72) صهريجاً، كما تلقت غرفة عمليات البلديات (58) بلاغاً عن مياه الأمطار وتم تنفيذها بالكامل.
وقال آل شافي إن العمل في سحب تجمعات المياه لا يزال جارياً لسحب كافة التجمعات المتبقية بالمناطق المتأثرة بالأمطار ، منوهاً بالتنسيق مع إدارة الأرصاد الجوية واستعداد فرق الطوارىء لتوقعات استمرار هطول الأمطار.
