51 violations at commercial outlets in September
ضبط 51 مخالفة للمحال التجارية خلال سبتمبر الماضي
DOHA: The Ministry of Economy and Commerce caught 51 violations at commercial outlets during its inspection campaigns launched in September to ensure the compliance of suppliers, retail outlets with Law Number 8 of 2008 on consumer protection.
The inspection campaigns come within the framework of the ministry’s efforts to monitor markets and commercial activities in a bid to crack down on price manipulation and to protect consumer rights, said a release.
Under the inspection campaigns, a total of 51 violations were caught. Violations included offering promotions without obtaining the necessary licence from the competent authority, failing to use Arabic in statements and ads relating to the product, failing to comply with the price lists of vegetables and fruits, falsely describing or advertising the service in a misleading way and failing to cooperate with a judicial officer.
The penalties included administrative closures and fines ranging between QR5,000 and QR30,000 in line with the laws and decisions governing the work of the Consumer Protection Department. The following is a breakdown of the type and number of violations registered in September 2018.
The ministry stressed that it will not tolerate any violations of the Consumer Protection Law and its regulations and will intensify its inspection campaigns to crackdown on violations.
The Ministry said it will refer those who violate laws and ministerial decisions governing the work of the department to competent authorities that will in turn take appropriate action against perpetrators in order to protect consumer rights.
The Ministry has urged all consumers to report violations or infringements and processes complaints and suggestions through the following channels.
قامت وزارة الاقتصاد والتجارة خلال شهر سبتمبر 2018 بحملات تفتيشية مكثفة لمراقبة مدى تقيد المزودين (المحال التجارية) بالتزاماتهم المنصوص بالقانون رقم (8) لسنة 2008 بشأن حماية المستهلك، وذلك في إطار حرص الوزارة على مراقبة الأسواق والأنشطة التجارية بالدولة بهدف ضبط الأسعار والكشف عن التجاوزات حفاظاً على حماية حقوق المستهلكين.
وأسفرت الحملات التفتيشية عن ضبط (51) مخالفة مختلفة تنوعت بين عمل عرض ترويجي بدون الحصول على الترخيص اللازم من الإدارة المختصة، وعدم استخدام اللغة العربية في البيانات والاعلانات المتعلقة بالسلعة، وعدم الالتزام بأسعار النشرة الجبرية للخضروات والفواكه، ووصف السلعة أو الإعلان عنها أو عرضها بأسلوب يحتوي على بيانات كاذبة أو خادعة، وعدم التعاون مع موظف الضبط القضائي.
هذا وتتراوح العقوبات على المحلات المخالفة ما بين الإغلاق الإداري والغرامات المالية التي تتراوح ما بين 5000 ريال الى 30000 ريال حسب القوانين والقرارات المنظمة لعمل إدارة حماية المستهلك.
