Thousands benefit from Qatar Charity’s housing projects in Syria

DOHA: Tens of thousands of displaced and refugee Syrians benefited from the cities and villages built by Qatar Charity under relief housing projects.

The projects aimed at providing shelter for those affected by the Syrian conflict in order to ensure the dignity and privacy of the families and to provide a safe haven for them, said a release. The need for shelter projects and other urgent relief assistance is increasing amid fresh and continuous displacements from Idlib. According to UN report, more than 30,000 people were displaced until September 9.

UN has warned of the potential for the “worst humanitarian catastrophe” of the 21st century with the biggest loss of civilian lives in the event of the escalation of the crisis and bombardment.

Qatar Charity has provided shelter for internally displaced Syrian people as well as Syrian refugees in neighbouring countries. The aid included providing tents, giving residential units (caravans) to some camps, paying house rents, equipping shelters for civilians, distributing blankets and winter clothes and providing furniture and other essential items for housing units.

So far, Qatar Charity established several cities and residential villages of pre-fabricated or concrete houses, and it also has two such projects in progress.

“Al Rayyan Humanitarian City for Displaced Syrians” in the village of Shamarin located in northern Aleppo Governorate, northwestern Syria, is one of the largest projects so far carried out by Qatar Charity to provide shelter.

The city includes 10 residential villages comprising 1,000 pre-fabricated housing units (caravans), which provide shelter for 6,000 displaced persons, as well as a health clinic, schools consisting of 30 classrooms, a mosque and playgrounds for children.

The “Competitors Villages for the Syrian Displaced” have been completed in Azaz, a district of Aleppo Governorate in northern Syria, which include 300 pre-fabricated housing units benefiting 1,800 displaced persons, as well as a school, mosque and children’s playgrounds.

Also the Village of Return for Syrian Refugees has been established in the Bekaa area of Lebanon, which provides housing units for 350 refugee families (2,100 people), in addition to a school, a mosque, a clinic and other facilities.

Moreover, Qatar Charity has completed the residential city in Wadi Dheif, which includes 400 concrete housing units that provide shelter for 2,400 people. The housing units were allocated to families whose homes were destroyed during the crisis in order to encourage displaced families to return to their villages.

The charity also provided 796 pre-fabricated housing units to registered camps in the governorates of Aleppo and Idlib, which benefited 4,776 affected persons. Currently, Qatar Charity is continuing to implement other housing projects, including the residential village in Jarabulus, near the Syrian-Turkish border, which is expected to provide concrete housing units for 36 affected families (150 people) in addition to a water well and a mosque.

The Model Village for Displaced people is also an ongoing project, which includes 400 concrete housing units for 2,400 people, in addition to a medical unit, a school, a well, a mosque and shops.

تمكنت «قطر الخيرية» من إقامة قرى سكنية نموذجية للنازحين واللاجئين وتوزيع خيام وبطانيات لهم، بدعم من أهل الخير في قطر، وبلغ عدد المستفيدين من المدن والقرى السكنية التي أنجزتها «قطر الخيرية» لصالح النازحين واللاجئين السوريين من أبناء الشعب السوري عشرات الآلاف من المتضررين. وتندرج هذه القرى في مجال الإيواء ضمن مشاريع الإغاثة، حفاظاً على كرامة الأسر وخصوصياتها، وتأمين ملاذ آمن لها.

مع تجدد موجات النزوح من منطقة إدلب السورية وتواصلها، فإن الحاجة تزداد لدعم مشاريع الإيواء المخصصة للمتضررين من أبناء الشعب السوري. ووفقاً لمصادر أممية فإن أكثر من 30 ألف شخص نزحوا في الأيام الأخيرة (حتى التاسع من سبتمبر الحالي)، فيما أعربت هذه المصادر عن مخاوفها من أن تتعرض إدلب لأكبر كارثة إنسانية في القرن الواحد والعشرين، وخسارة فادحة في أرواح المدنيين، وذلك في حال تصاعد الأزمة فيها وتعرضها للقصف.

وتشتمل المساعدات التي قدمتها «قطر الخيرية» في مجال الإيواء للمتضررين من أبناء الشعب السوري من النازحين في الداخل السوري واللاجئين إلى دول الجوار أيضاً على: توفير الخيام والعوازل البلاستيكية الخاصة بها، وتوفير وحدات سكنية (كرفانات) لبعض المخيمات، وإيجارات بيوت، وتجهيز ملاجئ للمدنيين، وتوزيع بطانيات وملابس في الشتاء، وتوفير الأثاث والمستلزمات الأساسية للوحدات السكنية.

القرى السكنية المنفذة

تمكنت «قطر الخيرية» حتى الآن من إنشاء عدة مدن وقرى سكنية من البيوت المسبقة الصنع أو الإسمنتية، كما أن لديها مشروعين من هذا النوع تحت التنفيذ حالياً.

وتعد «مدينة الريان الإنسانية للنازحين السوريين» في قرية شمارين بريف حلب من أكبر المشاريع التي أنجزتها الجمعية في مجال الإيواء حتى الآن، وتشتمل على 10 قرى سكنية، تتضمن 1000 وحدة سكنية مسبقة الصنع (كرافانات)، توفر المأوى لـ 6000 شخص من النازحين، فضلاً عن عيادة صحية، ومدارس، مكونة من 30 فصلاً دراسياً، ومسجد، وفضاء للألعاب الترفيهية للأطفال، كما تم إنجاز قرى «المتنافسون للنازحين السوريين» في إعزاز بريف حلب الشمالي، وتتضمن 300 وحدة سكنية مسبقة الصنع يستفيد منها 1800 نازح، إضافة إلى مدرسة، ومسجد، وملاعب للأطفال، وقرية العودة للاجئين السوريين في منطقة البقاع بلبنان، التي توفر وحدات سكنية لـ 350 أسرة لاجئة (2100 شخص)، إضافة لمدرسة، ومسجد، ومستوصف، ومرافق أخرى.

وعلى نحو متصل، انتهت «قطر الخيرية» من إنجاز المدينة السكنية بوادي الضيف، وتضم 400 وحدة سكنية إسمنتية توفر المأوى لـ 2400 شخص، وخصصت للأسر التي دمرت بيوتها أثناء الأزمة، ولتشجيع الأسر النازحة على العودة إلى قراها، كما قامت الجمعية بتزويد مخيمات مسجلة في محافظتي حلب وإدلب بـ 796 وحدة سكنية مسبقة الصنع، استفاد 4776 شخصاً متضرراً.

مشاريع قيد الإنجاز

وتقوم «قطر الخيرية» بمواصلة تنفيذ مشاريع إيواء أخرى حالياً، منها: القرية السكنية بجرابلس، قرب الحدود السورية التركية، وينتظر أن توفر وحدات سكنية إسمنتية لـ 36 أسرة متضررة (150 شخصاً)، إضافة لبئر مياه، ومسجد، والقرية النموذجية للنازحين في ناحية الدانا بريف إدلب، وتشتمل على 400 وحدة سكنية إسمنتية لصالح 2400 شخص، كما تشتمل على وحدة طبية، ومدرسة، وبئر، ومسجد، ومحلات تجارية.;
