QRCS reopens cardiac department in Gaza Hospital

DOHA: In a big ceremony in the Gaza Strip, the new Department of Cardiology at the Nasser Medical Complex was reopened, following a renovation project funded by Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS).

The ceremony was attended by government officials, decision-makers, representatives of QRCS’s representation office in Gaza, and media reporters.

“By supporting the project of renovating and furnishing the department, QRCS seeks to upgrade the cardiology services for the 650,000 population of the southern parts of the blockade,” said Dr Akram Nassar, Director of QRCS’s office in Gaza.

“It is part of our plan to develop the health sector of Gaza, particularly in areas that lack adequate human and financial resources, including chronic diseases such as cardiac diseases”.

According to Dr Nassar, the new project increased the capacity of the Department of Cardiology by 35 percent. The beds at the intensive care unit (ICU) has also increased by 60 percent. The department’s area was expanded from 400 sqm to 650 sqm.

“At a total value of $284,000, the project involved procuring quantities of medical equipment and consumables, in order to improve specialised services, treatment and IVU for cardiac patients,” he added.

Dr Mohamed Zakkut, General Manager of Nasser Medical Complex, commended QRCS’s relentless efforts to support Gaza’s medical sector, amid blockade and border closure, which had a negative impact on the health conditions.

The new project, he explained, is a valuable contribution to the health services for patients. It will also help the medical personnel with medical supplies.

شهد مجمع ناصر الطبي، جنوب قطاع غزة، حفل افتتاح قسم القلب الجديد، بحضور عدد من المسؤولين وصناع القرار، وبمشاركة وفد من المكتب التمثيلي للهلال الأحمر القطري في غزة، وسط حضور من وسائل الإعلام العربية والمحلية.أكد دكتور أكرم نصار، مدير مكتب الهلال الأحمر القطري، في قطاع غزة، أن الهلال القطري حرص من خلال دعم مشروع «ترميم وتجهيز قسم القلب بمجمع ناصر الطبي»، على تطوير خدمات القلب بالمحافظات الجنوبية من قطاع غزة، والتي تخدم حوالي 650 ألف نسمة، وذلك ضمن خطته لدعم وتطوير القطاع الصحي بغزة، وخاصة في بعض المجالات التي تعاني من نقص في الإمكانات المادية والبشرية، والتي تشمل خدمات الأمراض المزمنة كأمراض القلب.

وأوضح نصار أن المشروع الجديد لمجمع ناصر ساهم في رفع الطاقة الاستيعابية للأسرة في قسم القلب بنسبة 35 %.

كما تمت زيادة عدد الأسرة في قسم العناية المركزة بنسبة %60، بالإضافة إلى أعمال توسعة مساحة القسم من 400 متر مربع إلى 650 متراً مربعاً.

وأضاف: «تضمن المشروع توريد مجموعة من الأجهزة والمستلزمات الطبية، لتطوير الخدمات التخصصية والعلاجية والعناية الفائقة لمرضى القلب في محافظات جنوب قطاع غزة، بتكلفة إجمالية للمشروع بلغت 284 ألف دولار أميركي».

وأشاد مدير عام مجمع ناصر الطبي دكتور محمد زقوت بالجهود الحثيثة التي يبذلها الهلال الأحمر القطري لدعم القطاع الصحي في غزة، في ظل ظروف الحصار والإغلاق التي انعكست سلباً على الوضع الصحي للسكان، مشيراً إلى أن المشروع الجديد لتطوير قسم القلب بمجمع ناصر سيعزز من تقديم الخدمات الصحية بشكل متميز للمرضى، كما سيساعد الطواقم الطبية من خلال التوريدات الطبية الجديدة للقسم.;
