QNL, Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library sign MoU

DOHA: Qatar National Library (QNL) and the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the recent 84th World Library and Information Congress in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Commenting on the agreement, Dr Sohair Wastawy, Executive Director of QNL, said, “We are delighted to have entered into this partnership with the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library, particularly during the Qatar-Russia Year of Culture. We very much look forward to exploring the areas in which we can cooperate”.

The MoU was signed by Wastawy and Valentin Sidorin, Acting Director-General of the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library. Sidorin said, “We have no doubt that our cooperation with Qatar National Library will result in multiple projects and will lead our nations to better understanding each other. We are also looking forward to our collaboration in the next four years as the FIFA World Cup 2022 will move from Russia to Qatar, and this will not only be a celebration of sport, but will also contribute to the strengthening of friendly relations between countries.

The research materials on geography and history of Arabia, as well as official diplomatic documents reflecting the relationship between Russia, Qatar and the League of Arab States take a special place in the Presidential Library’s holdings. These documents are presented in the collection ‘Russia-Qatar: from the history of relations.’

ضمن فعاليات المؤتمر العالمي للمكتبات والمعلومات الرابع والثمانين الذي عقد في كوالالمبور بماليزيا، وقعت مكتبة قطر الوطنية ومكتبة بوريس يَلْتسِن الرئاسية الروسية، مذكرة تفاهم للتعاون الثقافي المشترك. وجاء توقيع الاتفاقية بين الدكتورة سهير وسطاوي المدير التنفيذي، نيابة عن مكتبة قطر الوطنية، وفالنتين سيدورين القائم بأعمال المدير العام للمكتبة الرئاسية الروسية.

وعلقت الدكتورة سهير وسطاوي على مذكرة التفاهم بقولها: «يسعدنا الدخول في هذه الشراكة مع مكتبة بوريس يَلْتسِن الرئاسية، خاصة خلال العام الثقافي المشترك «قطر- روسيا 2018»، ونتطلع سوياً لاستكشاف مجالات التعاون المشترك».

وقال فالنتين سيدورين، القائم بأعمال المدير العام للمكتبة الرئاسية الروسية: «لا يساورنا أي شك في أن مذكرة التفاهم مع مكتبة قطر الوطنية ستثمر عن العديد من مشاريع التعاون المشترك، وستقود بلدينا لتوطيد العلاقات بينهما وتعزيز التفاهم المشترك. ونتطلع أيضاً للتعاون في السنوات الأربع المقبلة، خاصة مع تنظيم دولة قطر بطولة كأس العالم لكرة القدم 2022 بعد انعقادها في روسيا هذا العام، وهذا التعاون بيننا لن يساهم في الاحتفاء بالرياضة فقط، بل سيُساهم كذلك في تعزيز علاقات الصداقة المتينة بين البلدين». وتحظى المواد البحثية حول الجغرافيا والتاريخ في شبه الجزيرة العربية، وكذلك الوثائق الدبلوماسية الرسمية التي تعكس العلاقات بين روسيا وقطر وجامعة الدول العربية، بمكانة خاصة في مقتنيات المكتبة الرئاسية، وهذه الوثائق معروضة في مجموعة «روسيا- قطر: تاريخ من العلاقات المشتركة».;
