QFFD signs pact with WSSCC
صندوق قطر للتنمية والمجلس التعاوني لتوفير المياه يوقعان اتفاقية تهدف إلى تسهيل التعاون بينهما
DOHA: Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council (WSSCC) on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York. This agreement will cover the initial partnership framework for a period of four years.
The agreement aims to provide a framework and facilitate cooperation between the two parties, on a non-exclusive basis, in areas of common interest, and establish strategic cooperation between the Qatar Fund for Development and the Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council.
The agreement was signed by Khalifa bin Jassim Al Kuwari, the Director-General of the Qatar Development Fund and Rolf Luyendijk, Executive Director of the UN-hosted Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council.
Khalifa bin Jassim Al Kuwari said that the partnership aims to support people living in difficult circumstances and who do not enjoy their human rights to sanitation and hygiene. This agreement will improve the lives of more than 8 million people. He also pointed out that such agreements support the efforts of the State of Qatar to achieve tangible results in improving sanitation, education and health.
The Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council, a multilateral, partnership-based international organization, aims to empower all, especially women and girls, who live in difficult circumstances and suffer from the exercise of their human right to sanitation and hygiene.
Rolf Luyendijk said WSSCC is honoured to partner with Qatar Fund for Development on vitally important sanitation, hygiene and related issues. He noted that there are still 2.3 billion people without improved sanitation, and innovative partnerships like this signal a new spirit of cooperation necessary if the world truly aims to leave no one behind.
This partnership focuses on an integrated approach to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030, especially Goal 6 on clean water and sanitation and partnerships that achieve the desired goals. The partnership is expected to improve the lives of more than 8 million people through appropriate policies, launching renewed capacity initiatives and supporting national sanitation and hygiene improvement programs. It is worth noting that the QFFD earlier co-organised an event with the WSSCC on the sidelines of the High Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development in New York.
وقع صندوق قطر للتنمية والمجلس التعاوني لتوفير المياه والمرافق الصحية WSSCC اليوم، اتفاقية تهدف إلى تسهيل التعاون بين الطرفين، على أساس غير حصري في المجالات ذات الاهتمام المشترك، وإقامة تعاون استراتيجي بين صندوق قطر للتنمية والمجلس التعاوني لتوفير المياه والمرافق الصحية.
وتهدف هذه الشراكة الى تحسين حياة أكثر من 8 ملايين شخص من خلال انتهاج السياسات الملائمة وإطلاق مبادرات متجددة لبناء القدرات ودعم برامج وطنية لتحسين الصرف الصحي والنظافة.
وقع الاتفاقية عن صندوق قطر للتنمية السيد خليفة بن جاسم الكواري مدير عام الصندوق، وعن المجلس التعاوني السيد رولف لوياندجك المدير التنفيذي للمجلس التعاوني لتوفير المياه والمرافق الصحية، وذلك على هامش اجتماعات الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة الـ73 والمنعقدة في نيويورك.
وستغطي هذه الاتفاقية الإطار الأولي لشراكة الطرفين لفترة الأربع سنوات المقبلة.
وبهذه المناسبة أكد السيد خليفة الكواري، أن هذه الشراكة تهدف إلى دعم الأشخاص الذين يعيشون في ظروف صعبة ولا يتمتعون بحقهم الإنساني في الصرف الصحي والنظافة، حيث ستسهم هذه الاتفاقية في تحسين حياة أكثر من 8 ملايين شخص.
وأشار السيد الكواري إلى أن مثل هذه الاتفاقيات تدعم جهود دولة قطر في تحقيق نتائج ملموسة في تحسين الصرف الصحي والتعليم والصحة، كما تركز هذه الشراكة على نهج متكامل لتحقيق أهداف التنمية المستدامة 2030 وأهمها المتعلق بالمياه النظيفة والصرف الصحي وعقد الشراكات لتحقيق الأهداف المرجوة.
من جانبه أعرب السيد رولف لوياندجك عن سعادته بهذه الشراكة التكاملية مع صندوق قطر للتنمية لتوفير المياه والمرافق الصحية والصرف الصحي والنظافة، إضافة إلى كل ما من شأنه الاسهام في تحسين حياة من يعيشون في ظروف صعبة ولا يتمتعون بحقهم الإنساني في الصرف الصحي والنظافة.
وأَضاف أنه لا يزال هناك 2.3 مليار شخص بدون مرافق صرف صحي محسنة.. لافتاً الى ان مثل هذه الشراكات المبتكرة تعد ضرورة للتخفيف من أعباء من يعانون من ظروف صعبة.
يذكر ان المجلس التعاوني يهدف إلى توفير المياه والمرافق الصحية، وهو منظمة أممية متعددة الأطراف قائمة على الشراكات، كما يسعى المجلس إلى مساعدة تمكين الجميع، وخاصة النساء والفتيات الذين يعيشون في ظروف صعبة ويعانون في ممارسة حقهم الإنساني في المرافق الصحية والنظافة.
يشار الى أن صندوق قطر للتنمية شارك في وقت سابق في تنظيم فعالية مع المجلس التعاوني لتوفير المياه والمرافق الصحية، وذلك على هامش انعقاد المنتدى السياسي رفيع المستوى المعني بالتنمية المستدامة في نيويورك.
