Cable stealing gang arrested

The South and Rayyan Security Departments jointly arrested a gang that specialised in the theft of copper and aluminium cables from project sites and houses under construction, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said Sunday.

The departments received reports about the theft of the cables from several areas in the country, and accordingly a special team was formed to search and investigate places that deal with stolen items.
The copper and aluminium cables were stolen from sites that had no guard present on the spot.
Following an intensive search and investigation, a number of accused were caught while carrying out robberies. During interrogation, one of them confessed and guided the investigation team to a garage in the Industrial Area where they had sold the stolen items, the MoI said in a press statement.

After obtaining the necessary permits from the Public Prosecution, 25 people of different nationalities were arrested while carrying out sale and purchase without the permission of the competent authorities in the State, the ministry added.
The accused were referred to specialised judicial bodies and big quantities of copper cables, aluminium wires, iron and scrap, in addition to other items as well as cars used to transport the stolen goods, were seized.
The authorities concerned have urged the owners of under-construction buildings to properly secure their sites.

تمكنت إدارتا أمن الجنوب وأمن الريان من إلقاء القبض على تشكيل عصابي تخصص في سرقة الأسلاك و(الكيابل) النحاسية والألومنيوم من بعض المشاريع المقامة والمنازل قيد الإنشاء.

كانت بلاغات قد وردت حول سرقة الأسلاك و(الكيابل) النحاسية والألومنيوم من عدة مناطق بالدولة من مواقع المشاريع والمنازل قيد الإنشاء، والتي لا يوجد بها تأمين أو حراسة، وتم تشكيل فريق متخصص للبحث والتحري عن أماكن شراء هذا النوع من المسروقات، وبتكثيف البحث تم ضبط عدد من المتهمين متلبسين أثناء قيامهم بعمليات السرقة، وبالتحقيق معهم اعترف أحدهم بالأماكن التي تتعامل معهم في شراء هذه المسروقات، وأرشد إلى أحد الكراجات بالمنطقة الصناعية.

وبعد استصدار الأذونات اللازمة من النيابة العامة، تم ضبط عدد 25 شخصاً من جنسيات مختلفة متلبسين أثناء قيامهم بعملية البيع والشراء، بدون تصريح من الجهات المختصة بالدولة.

وتمت إحالة المتهمين إلى الجهات العدلية المتخصصة وضبط وتحريز الكميات الموجودة من الأسلاك والكيابل النحاسية والألومنيوم والحديد والخردة، بالإضافة إلى المضبوطات الأخرى والسيارات المستخدمة في نقل هذه المسروقات.

وناشدت الجهات المعنية أصحاب مواقع البناء قيد التشييد ضرورة تأمين تلك المواقع بالشكل اللازم، وعدم ترك المواد والأدوات دون حراسة.;
