Zakat Fund gives QR4.6mn aid to treat patients

The total aid provided by the Zakat Fund of the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs to treat some needy patients reached about QR4.6mn during the first half of this year.

The Fund said in a press release that the financial aid was provided to 224 patients who were eligible for Zakat, in co-operation with a number of medical institutions in Qatar, headed by HMC, its affiliated hospitals and associations for patients.

The statement added that this aid includes payment of the full cost of treatment, depending on the patient’s health, need and eligibility for assistance.

The Fund pointed out that the aid is disbursed depending upon the patient’s status on the basis of an official medical report from the health institution, including the diagnosis of the disease and the cost of the treatment. The Social Research Division of the Fund assesses the eligibility of the patient.

Speaker returns to Doha

HE the Speaker of the Advisory Council Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al-Mahmoud and his accompanying delegation returned to Doha yesterday after participating in the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union meeting in Cairo.

بلغت قيمة المساعدات المالية التي قدمها صندوق الزكاة بوزارة الأوقاف والشؤون الإسلامية لعلاج بعض المرضى المحتاجين نحو 4.6 مليون ريال، وذلك خلال النصف الأول من العام الحالي.

وقال الصندوق -في بيان صحافي- إن تلك المساعدات المالية صرفت لعلاج 224 مريضاً ثبت استحقاقهم للمساعدة من أموال الزكاة، وذلك بالتعاون مع عدد من المؤسسات الطبية في قطر، وعلى رأسها مؤسسة حمد الطبية والمستشفيات التابعة لها، والجمعيات المعنية بالمرضى.

وأضاف البيان أن هذه المساعدات تتضمن دفع قيمة التكلفة العلاجية كاملة، أو المساهمة بجزء من تكاليف العمليات الجراحية المختلفة، أو قيمة الأدوية ومراجعة العيادات وغيرها، وذلك بناءً على حالة المريض الصحية، ومدى حاجته واستحقاقه للمساعدة. ولفت صندوق الزكاة إلى أنه يعتمد الحالة الصحية لطالب المساعدة بناءً على تقرير طبي رسمي من المؤسسة الصحية المختصة، يتضمن تشخيص المرض وقيمة العلاج، فيما تقوم شعبة البحث الاجتماعي بالصندوق بدراسة مدى استحقاق المريض للمساعدة لضمان وصول زكوات أهل قطر إلى مستحقيها.

وأكد الصندوق أن مساعدة المرضى المحتاجين لها الأولوية في اهتمامات الصندوق، نظراً لتعلقها بسلامة الإنسان وحفظ النفس، التي هي من الضروريات الخمس، التي أوصت الشريعة الإسلامية برعايتها، والمحافظة عليها.;
