Qatar citizens and residents remain subject to arbitrary Saudi measures for Haj and Umrah: Ministry

Doha: The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs expressed today its surprise at a statement by the Ministry of Haj and Umra in Saudi Arabia regarding the rights of citizens and residents of Qatar in practicing Islamic rituals in the Holy Land. The ministry said that the statement did not bring anything new to resolve the obstacles that have existed since June 5 of 2017.

In a statement, the Ministry denied claims that Qatar did not enable citizens and residents to perform Hajj and Umrah, stressing that the kingdom continues to impose obstacles and arbitrary measures that single out those living in Qatar in particular out of the rest of the Muslim world.

The ministry backed its statement with a number of issues that remain unresolved. Some of them were the fact that reaching Jeddah by road from Doha was not possible due to the closing of the borders, direct air travel from Doha to Jeddah was also unavailable, which represents a burden on pilgrims in general and the elderly in particular, many of whom are suffering from diseases. The ministry also noted that the entry of citizens and residents of Qatar was subject only to the whims of the designated employees.

The ministry also said that they documented a number of cases of people being prevented from Umrah in the past. The ministry also received complaints that some Qatari citizens tried to communicate with the certified

Haj and Umrah companies in Saudi Arabia but were ignored.

The ministry then renewed its call on the designated authorities in Saudi Arabia to separate religious rights from political disputes, especially during blessed days of the holy month.

أبدت وزارة الأوقاف والشؤون الإسلامية استغرابها الشديد من صدور بيان عن وزارة الحج والعمرة بالمملكة العربية السعودية بشأن حقوق المواطنين والمقيمين بدولة قطر في ممارسة الشعائر الإسلامية في الأراضي المقدسة، إذ لم يأتِ هذا البيان بجديد يدفع بالأمور تجاه حلّ العراقيل القائمة منذ الخامس من يونيو 2017.

نفت وزارة الأوقاف والشؤون الإسلامية، في بيان لها، الادعاء بعدم تمكين دولة قطر المواطنين والمقيمين فيها من الحج والعمرة، مؤكدة استمرار العراقيل والإجراءات التعسفية التي تفرضها المملكة على قاطني دولة قطر جملةً ودون غيرهم من مسلمي العالم.

وأوضح البيان أن شواهد هذه الإجراءات عديدة، «فباب العمرة والحجّ عن طريق البرّ لا زال مغلقاً تماماً، والتوجه من مدينة الدوحة إلى مدينة جدةّ مباشرة أيضاً غير متاح، مما يحمّل المعتمرين والحجاج من كبار السن وأصحاب الأمراض مشقّة مضاعفة. هذا فضلاً عن خضوع مسألة السماح للمواطنين والمقيمين في دولة قطر بدخول الأراضي السعودية إلى أهواء الموظفين المعنيين».

وأشارت وزارة الأوقاف والشؤون الإسلامية إلى أنه تم تسجيل حالات عديدة حاولت التوجه للعمرة في الفترة الماضية وتمّ منعها، بالإضافة إلى تلقيها عدداً من البلاغات من مواطنين قطريين حاولوا التواصل مع شركات الحج والعمرة بالمملكة العربية السعودية ولم يتم التجاوب معهم.

ودعت الوزارة مجدداً الجهات المعنية في المملكة العربية السعودية للنأي بالشعائر الدينية بعيداً عن التجاذبات السياسية، لا سيّما في هذه الأيام المباركة من الشهر الفضيل.;
