Qatar, Spain explore bilateral relations

DOHA: Speaker of the Advisory Council, H E Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud, held a meeting yesterday with a Spanish parliamentary delegation currently visiting Doha.

The delegation is headed by Chairman of the Justice Committee in the Spanish Senate Senator, Manuel Altava Lavall.

The meeting discussed the bilateral relations between the two countries, especially in the parliamentary area and explored the ways to bolster and strengthen them. The meeting also reviewed a number of issues of common interest.

The Speaker of Advisory Council briefed the Spanish delegation about the progress and the developments that the State of Qatar is witnessing in the economic and legislative fields, and he briefed the delegation about the unjust blockade imposed on Qatar in violation of the international law, norms and legal instruments, and which undermines the human rights and the principles of good neighbourliness.

The Speaker of the Advisory Council expressed his satisfaction with the great development which the Qatari-Spanish relations are witnessing, particularly in the economic filed. For their part, the visiting delegation praised the features of the development they have witnessed in the State of Qatar.

The visiting delegation professed the support to all the efforts made to resolve the Gulf crisis through dialogue, understanding and respecting of the sovereignty and independence of States. The delegation affirmed their full understanding of Qatars stance which calls for settlement of disputes between States through dialogue.

The delegation expressed the hope for advancement of the bilateral cooperation between the two countries in all fields during the coming period.

The meeting was attended by a number of members of the Advisory Council and the Ambassador of Spain to Doha, Ignacio Escobar.

اجتمع سعادة السيد أحمد بن عبد الله بن زيد آل محمود رئيس مجلس الشورى أمس، مع وفد البرلمان الإسباني الذي يزور البلاد حالياً، برئاسة السيد مانويل ألتافا لافال، رئيس لجنة العدل بمجلس الشيوخ الإسباني.

تم خلال الاجتماع بحث العلاقات الثنائية بين البلدين، وخاصة في المجال البرلماني، وسبل دعمها وتعزيزها، كما جرى استعراض عدد من القضايا ذات الاهتمام المشترك.

وتناول سعادة رئيس مجلس الشورى في حديثه للوفد ما تشهده دولة قطر من تطور وتقدم في المجالات الاقتصادية والتشريعية، وكذلك ما تتعرض له من حصار جائر ينتهك القانون الدولي والأعراف والشرائع، ولا يراعي حقوق الإنسان، ومبادئ حسن الجوار.

وأبدى سعادته ارتياحه للتطور الكبير في العلاقات القطرية الإسبانية، خاصة في المجال الاقتصادي.

ومن جانبه أشاد الوفد الزائر بما شهده من معالم التطور والنهضة الاقتصادية في الدولة.

وأبدى الوفد دعمه جميع الجهود المبذولة لحل الأزمة الخليجية بالحوار والتفاهم، وفي إطار احترام سيادة الدول واستقلالها، وأكد تفهّمه الكامل موقف دولة قطر الذي يدعو للحوار، من أجل حل الخلافات بين الدول.

وأعرب الوفد عن تطلعه لمزيد من التعاون الثنائي بين البلدين في جميع المجالات خلال الفترة المقبلة.

حضر الاجتماع عدد من أعضاء مجلس الشورى، وسعادة السيد اغناسيو اسكوبار سفير مملكة إسبانيا لدى الدولة.;
