QF opens access to Art Trail programme
مؤسسة قطر تفتح التسجيل في برنامج درب الفن
The latest edition of Qatar Foundations (QF) Art Trail programme is well underway, with the next tour set to take place Saturday, at the 2015 building (QF headquarters).
Open to the public, the tours, which take place periodically throughout the year, are led by QF art specialists and aim to showcase some of the artwork displayed across Education City.
Catering to different age groups and interests, the initiative strives to inspire creativity among Qatar’s community, while increasing artistic appreciation and awareness and also providing opportunities for social interaction and discussion.
Previous tours organised through the current edition of the Art Trail initiative have included Qatar National Library and the Minaretein Building (Education City Mosque), which featured a modern prayer rug exhibition that recently concluded.
Showcasing the work of students from QF partner university Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar (VCUarts Qatar), the exhibition was divided into two sections – the finalists of the VCUarts Qatar Materials Library Modern Prayer Design Competition in 2017, and MFA in Design students and faculty members who attended a week-long workshop in the Netherlands in 2018.
Rabab Abdulla, one of the exhibitors who took part in the workshop in the Netherlands, said: “Art is a form of communication, and the exhibition at Minaretein gave us an opportunity to show the public the meaning and significance of prayer rugs.
“It allowed us to tell our story, present our ideas, and convey our thinking and, ultimately, it facilitated learning, encouraged information sharing, and opened doors for future collaborations and opportunities.”
QF strives to serve as a platform for local and regional artists and designers to showcase their work, and is home to many arts and cultural centers and galleries including Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art and VCUarts Qatar.
Upcoming Art Trail tours will take place at Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar on March 9; the VCUarts Qatar Gallery on March 14; and Sidra Medicine on April 6.
تطلق مؤسسة قطر للتربية والعلوم وتنمية المجتمع، صباح اليوم السبت، النسخة الحديثة من برنامج «درب الفن»، في مبنى 2015 المقر الرئيسي للمؤسسة.
وتستمر جولات مؤسسة قطر من «درب الفن» طوال العام بقيادة خبراء فنيين من المؤسسة، حيث يتوجه البرنامج إلى جميع أفراد المجتمع على اختلاف أعمارهم واهتماماتهم، لإلهامهم وتحفيزهم على الابتكار، من خلال عرض أبرز أعمال الفنانين المحليين والعالميين، وتعزيز التقدير والتوعية بأهمية الفن، بالإضافة إلى توفير فرص التفاعل والمشاركة المجتمعية، وذلك في إطار عرض بعض الأعمال الفنية في المدينة التعليمية.
وكانت الجولات السابقة التي جرى تنظيمها من برنامج «درب الفن»، قد شملت مكتبة قطر الوطنية، ومبنى المنارتين (جامع المدينة التعليمية)، ومعرض «سجود» الذي عقد مؤخراً، وعُرضت فيه أعمال طلاب جامعة فرجينيا كومنولث كلية فنون التصميم في قطر، إحدى الجامعات الشريكة لمؤسسة قطر.
وينقسم المعرض إلى قسمين، ضم القسم الأول المشاريع المتأهلة للمرحلة النهائية في مسابقة تصميم سجادة صلاة حديثة لعام 2017، بينما ضم القسم الثاني مشاريع الطلاب وأعضاء هيئة التدريس من برنامج ماجستير الفنون الراقية في دراسات التصميم، والذين حضروا ورشة عمل لمدة أسبوع في هولندا في عام 2018.
وقالت رباب عبدالله، إحدى المشاركات في الورشة التي أقيمت في هولندا: «إن الفن وسيلة للتعبير، ومعرض التصميم في مبنى المنارتين، يقدم لنا كفنانين فرصة لإبراز معاني وأبعاد سجادة الصلاة أمام أفراد المجتمع».
وأضافت: «مكّننا المعرض من ابتكار فكرة وعرضها، والحديث عنها، وكان بمثابة وسيلة للتعبير والتعلم وتبادل المعلومات، إنه يفتح الأبواب أمام الفرص والشراكات المستقبلية».
وتسعى مؤسسة قطر إلى العمل كمنصة للفنانين المحليين والإقليميين لعرض أعمالهم، وتعد موطناً للعديد من مراكز الفنون والمعارض الثقافية، بما في ذلك «متحف: المتحف العربي للفن الحديث»، وجامعة فرجينيا كومنولث كلية فنون التصميم في قطر.
والجدير بالذكر أن الجولة المقبلة من «درب الفن» سوف تقام في جامعة كارنيجي ميلون في قطر، ومعرض جامعة فرجينيا كومنولث كلية فنون التصميم في قطر يومي 9 و14 مارس المقبل، وفي «سدرة للطب» 6 أبريل المقبل.
