Doha: Qatar’s healthcare sector treated 51,809 patients throughout FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 as part of the successful delivery of medical services to support Qatar’s hosting of the tournament.
The scale of the healthcare sector’s service provision for the tournament was vast, spanning approximately 100 FIFA World Cup competition and non-competition sites, with 113 clinics, 114 ambulances, 212 mobile medical units, and 2,275 staff providing support.
Chair of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Health Strategic Command Group, Dr. Ahmed Al Mohammed, highlighted the collaborative efforts of the entire healthcare in supporting a safe and healthy tournament. “FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 is the largest sports event ever hosted in Qatar and our success in delivering high-quality medical services throughout the tournament was due to the joint efforts of multiple healthcare organizations across Qatar, including the Ministry of Public Health, Hamad Medical Corporation, Primary Health Care Corporation, Aspetar, Sidra Medicine, Qatar Red Crescent, Qatar Armed Forces, Ministry of Interior, Qatar Energy Health Services and many private healthcare providers.” “A key principle of our strategy was to enable easy access to high-quality medical care for fans. This meant providing services in the locations visited most frequently by local and international fans and tournament participants. To enable us to achieve this aim, we set up multiple medical clinics across the FIFA World Cup football stadiums, fan zones, training grounds and key accommodation sites, as well as providing emergency and urgent care services within our existing healthcare facilities,” added Dr. Al Mohammed.
More than 80 medical clinics were set up across the 8 FIFA World Cup football stadiums. Throughout the tournament, healthcare teams provided a broad set of services within each of the stadiums on match days. This included: up to 13 medical clinics located within and around each stadium; two specialised field of play medical teams for each match; medical teams and ambulances dedicated for players; and emergency services, including up to 31 mobile medical teams and 8 ambulances per stadium.
Dedicated walk-in units for fans with urgent, but non-emergency care needs were also established in hospitals across the country at Hamad General Hospital, Aisha bint Hamad Al Attiyah Hospital, Al Wakra Hospital and Hazm Mebaireek General Hospital, with more than 6,000 patients benefitting from these dedicated units.
Dr. Abdulwahab Al Musleh, Deputy Executive Director Medical Affairs HMC and FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Chief Medical Officer, Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, explained that the multiple clinics set up within World Cup sites was a key factor in the success of the healthcare provision. “By establishing medical clinics in the World Cup sites we achieved two key aims. Firstly, we were able to ensure fans had easy access to medical care close to where it was needed, and secondly, we were able to reduce the number of fans visiting hospitals and health centers, enabling the local population to continue receiving routine medical services without disruption.
Throughout the tournament, our medical teams treated over 33,000 patients at approximately 100 competition and non-competition sites, with the majority receiving care for minor injuries and medical conditions.” With 1.4 million football fans from across the world visiting Qatar for the FIFA World Cup, Hamad Medical Corporation’s Ambulance Service put plans in place to enable it to respond to a higher volume of calls than normal. As well as continuing to provide a full range of high-quality services to Qatar’s local population throughout the tournament, the Ambulance Service responded to more than 4,000 World Cup related calls.

الدوحة: قدم قطاع الرعاية الصحية في دولة قطر مختلف الخدمات الطبية لجماهير بطولة كأس العالم FIFA قطر 2022، حيث تلقى 51 ألفا و809 مرضى الخدمات الطبية والعلاج بجودة عالية بالزمان والمكان المناسبين خلال البطولة.
وخصص القطاع الصحي 2275 موظفا من كوادره لتقديم الخدمات الطبية لجماهير البطولة من خلال أكثر من 100 موقع، اشتملت على 113 عيادة و114 سيارة إسعاف و212 وحدة طبية متنقلة.
وقال الدكتور أحمد المحمد رئيس مجموعة القيادة الاستراتيجية الصحية لبطولة كأس العالم FIFA قطر 2022، ان الجهود التعاونية للرعاية الصحية ساهمت في دعم إقامة بطولة آمنة وصحية، مرجعا النجاح في تقديم خدمات طبية عالية الجودة طوال فترة البطولة، إلى الجهود المشتركة للعديد من جهات الرعاية الصحية في دولة قطر، ممثلة بوزارة الصحة العامة ومؤسسة حمد الطبية ومؤسسة الرعاية الصحية الأولية وسبيتار وسدرة للطب والهلال الأحمر القطري والخدمات الطبية بالقوات المسلحة القطرية ووزارة الداخلية وقطر للطاقة، والعديد من مقدمي الرعاية الصحية في القطاع الخاص.
ونوه بالتركيز على ضمان الوصول السهل للرعاية الطبية عالية الجودة للمشجعين كأحد المبادئ الرئيسية للاستراتيجية الصحية، من خلال تقديم الخدمات الطبية في المواقع التي كان يرتادها المشجعون والمشاركون في البطولة بشكل متكرر، مبينا أنه تم انشاء عيادات طبية متعددة في ملاعب البطولة، ومناطق المشجعين، وملاعب التدريب، ومواقع الإقامة الرئيسية، بالإضافة إلى توفير خدمات الرعاية الطارئة والعاجلة في مرافق الرعاية الصحية الحالية.
وأضاف أنه تم تجهيز أكثر من 80 عيادة طبية في 8 ملاعب طوال فترة البطولة، مبينا أن فرق الرعاية الصحية قدمت مجموعة متنوعة من الخدمات داخل كل ملعب خلال أيام المباريات، إذ كان هناك 13 عيادة طبية داخل وحول كل ملعب، وفريقين طبيين متخصصين في مجال اللعب لكل مباراة، وفرق طبية وسيارات إسعاف مخصصة للاعبين، وخدمات طوارئ، بالإضافة إلى توفير 31 فريقا طبيا متنقلا و8 سيارات إسعاف لكل ملعب.
ولفت إلى أنه تم إنشاء وحدات مخصصة لتغطية احتياجات الجماهير من الرعاية العاجلة وغير الطارئة في المستشفيات في جميع أنحاء البلاد، وأبرزها مستشفى حمد العام ومستشفى عائشة بنت حمد العطية ومستشفى الوكرة ومستشفى حزم مبيريك العام، حيث استفاد أكثر من 6000 مريض من هذه الوحدات.
من جانبه، أوضح الدكتور عبد الوهاب المصلح، نائب المدير التنفيذي للشؤون الطبية بمؤسسة حمد الطبية المدير الطبي لبطولة كأس العالم FIFA قطر 2022 باللجنة العليا للمشاريع والإرث، أن العيادات المتعددة التي أقيمت في مواقع البطولة كانت عاملا رئيسيا في نجاح تقديم الرعاية الصحية.
وأضاف: “من خلال إنشاء عيادات طبية في مواقع كأس العالم، حققنا هدفين رئيسيين، حيث تمكنا من ضمان وصول المشجعين بسهولة للرعاية الطبية بالقرب من أماكنهم، واستطعنا تقليل عدد المشجعين الذين يزورون المستشفيات والمراكز الصحية، ما مكن سكان الدولة من الاستمرار في تلقي الخدمات الطبية الروتينية دون انقطاع”.
ولفت إلى أنه خلال فترة البطولة عالجت الفرق الطبية أكثر من 33000 مريض في حوالي 100 موقع من مواقع المنافسات وغيرها من الأماكن، مؤكدا أن معظمهم تلقوا الرعاية من إصابات وحالات مرضية طفيفة.
