HMC Wins Sustainability Star Award From Arab Hospitals Federation in Overcoming Climate Change Challenge

Doha: Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) has won the Diamond Award for the rising star sustainability award presented by the Arab Hospitals Federation as part of the Golden Initiative Awards to defeat the climate change global challenge, which was launched by the Federation under the theme “The Arab Challenge Winner for Climate Change”.

The award was received by Director of the Office of HE Minister of Public Health and Deputy Chief of Arab Hospitals Federations Mohamad Mubarak Al Noimi, during his participation in the Arab Healthcare Development Annual Forum (AHDAF), Egypt 2023, held in Cairo between 10-11 January at Semiramis Intercontinental Cairo. The forum witnessed the participation of Arab healthcare leaders.

The Golden Initiative Awards to defeat the global climate change challenge, highlight the distinguished efforts taken by Arab health organizations towards a green transformation in healthcare and to approve the green recovery plans and to encounter the effects of climate change.

The Golden initiative witnessed the participation of 47 healthcare organizations from 9 Arab countries. The Arab Hospitals Federation announced the winning of 10 healthcare organizations of the Golden Initiative for many categories: the rising star sustainability award, the visionary leader award in healthcare sustainability, the smart climate certificate in healthcare, the green hospital, the sustainable architecture of healthcare facilities, the water, waste and resources management, and Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency Certificate.

Four more awards were awarded to individuals and organizations which made efforts in the Arab healthcare sector sustainability to support the initiative in confronting climate change.

HMC has presented its winning project on waste management program at HMC in line with Qatar National Vision 2030 and the corporations commitment towards the environmental sustainability as HMC constantly works to reduce the general waste sent to Qatar waste stations and implements a recycle system for general waste such as paper, plastic and aluminum.

الدوحة: فازت مؤسسة حمد الطبية بالجائزة الماسية لفئة نجم الاستدامة الصاعد، المقدمة من اتحاد المستشفيات العربية ضمن جوائز المبادرة الذهبية لمواجهة تحدي التغير المناخي الذي يواجه العالم، والتي أطلقها الاتحاد تحت شعار”بطل التحدي العربي للتغير المناخي”.

وتسلم الجائزة السيد محمد مبارك النعيمي، مدير مكتب سعادة وزير الصحة العامة ونائب رئيس اتحاد المستشفيات العربية، خلال مشاركته في المنتدى العربي السنوي لتطوير الرعاية الصحية /AHDAF EGYPT 2023/ الذي أقيم في العاصمة المصرية القاهرة بمشاركة قادة الرعاية الصحية في الدول العربية.

وتهدف جوائز المبادرة الذهبية لمواجهة تحدي التغير المناخي إلى تسليط الضوء على الجهود المتميزة التي تقوم بها المؤسسات والهيئات الصحية العربية للتحول الأخضر في الرعاية الصحية، واعتماد الخطط للتعافي الأخضر ومواجهة آثار التغيرات المناخية.

وشاركت في المبادرة الذهبية لمواجهة تحدي التغير المناخي 47 مؤسسة صحية من 9 دول عربية، وأعلن اتحاد المستشفيات العربية حصول 10 مؤسسات صحية على شهادة المبادرة الذهبية في عدة فئات: فئة نجم الاستدامة الصاعد، فئة القائد الرؤيوي في استدامة الرعاية الصحية، فئة شهادة الرعاية الصحية الذكية مناخياً، فئة المستشفى الأخضر، فئة تصميم مرافق الرعاية الصحية المستدامة، فئة شهادة إدارة المياه والنفايات والموارد، الجائزة الذهبية لشهادة الطاقة المتجددة وكفاءة الطاقة.

وتم تسليم 4 جوائز لشخصيات ومؤسسات بذلت كل طاقاتها لاستدامة قطاع الرعاية الصحية في الوطن العربي وكانت داعمة لهذه المبادرة أو للمؤسسات الفائزة لكي تواجه تحدي التغير المناخي.

جدير بالذكر أن مؤسسة حمد الطبية قد تقدمت للحصول على هذه الجائزة بمشروع حول برنامج معالجة النفايات في المؤسسة تماشياً مع رؤية قطر الوطنية 2030 والتزامها بالاستدامة البيئية، حيث تعمل مؤسسة حمد الطبية على تقليل النفايات العامة التي يتم إرسالها إلى مكبات النفايات في قطر، وتطبق نظام إعادة التدوير للنفايات العامة بوضعها في صناديق مخصصة لكل نوع من النفايات لتمكين إعادة تدوير الورق والبلاستيك وعلب الألمنيوم والنفايات العامة.
