Qatar’s Mutaz Barshim won second place in the Lausanne Athletics Meeting

Lausanne: Qatari runner Mutaz Barshim, the world and Olympic Games champion, won today second place in the high jump competition in the Lausanne meeting, the twelfth round of the Diamond League in athletics.
Barshim came in second place, ahead of Ukrainian Andriy Protsenko, after they reached the same height (2.24 m) in the competition.
The Ukrainian reached 2.15 m, 2.20 m and 2.24 m from the first attempt, and failed in three attempts at 2.27 m, while Barshim made a mistake in his second attempt at 2.20 m. In third place, the American Joe von Harrison.
In the rest of the competitions, the 200-meter race witnessed the American runner Noah Lyles superiority after taking first place, recording a remarkable 19.56 seconds, surpassing his compatriot Michael Norman (19.76 seconds) and Trinidadian Jereem Richards (19.95 seconds).
Lyles set the fourth best time of all time (19.31 seconds) in the 200m race at the World Championships in Eugene last month on his way to winning the gold medal, knowing that the world record for this race is held by the Jamaican legend Usain Bolt of 19.19 seconds, in August 20, 2009 at the World Championships in Berlin.
In the 1500m race, the Norwegian runner Jakob Ingebrigtsen, the European champion a few days ago, recorded the best time in the race this year with a time of 3:29.05 minutes.
The Norwegian, who won the Olympic gold in Tokyo in 2021 and finished second in the last world championships in Eugene, overtook Kenyan Abel Kipsang (3:29.93 d) and Australian Stuart Maxion (3:30.18 d).
In the 110-meter hurdles, Jamaican Rasheed Broadbell surprised by taking first place, clocking 12.99 seconds (a personal record) ahead of Americans Trey Cunningham (13.10 s) and world champion Grant Holloway (13.11 s).
The women’s 100m race, expected among the best runners in the world, witnessed 3 surprises: the first was the withdrawal of Jamaican Shelley-Ann Fraser-Pryce, the world champion, shortly before the start of the race, and then the bad start of her compatriot Eileen Thompson-Herah, thus excluding her from the race, and the third was the victory of the underdog American Alia Hobbs clocked 10.87 seconds, narrowly ahead of Jamaican Sherika Jackson (10.88) and Ivory Coast Marie-José Tallow (10.89).
In the 400m race, the Dutch runner Vimke Paul achieved an expected victory in the 400m hurdles by clocking 52.95 seconds, while the world record holder in this distance, American Dalilah Muhammad, disappointed hopes by reaching the seventh.

وجاء احتلال برشم المركز الثاني بفارق المحاولات عن الأوكراني اندري بروتسنكو بعد ان اجتازا الارتفاع ذاته (2.24 م) في منافسات المسابقة.
واجتاز الاوكراني ارتفاع 2.15 م و2.20 م و2.24 م من المحاولة الأولى، وفشل في ثلاث محاولات على ارتفاع 2.27 م، في حين اخطأ برشم في محاولته الثانية على ارتفاع 2.20 م، فيما جاء ثالثا بفارق المحاولات أيضا الأمريكي جو فون هاريسون.
وفي بقية المنافسات، شهد سباق 200 م مواصلة العداء الأمريكي نواه لايلز، تفوقه بعد حلوله في المركز الأول مسجلا رقما لافتا قدره 19.56 ثانية، متفوقا على مواطنه مايكل نورمان (19.76 ث) والترينيدادي جيريم ريتشاردز (19.95 ث).
وكان لايلز قد سجل رابع أفضل توقيت على مر الأزمنة (19.31 ثانية) في سباق 200 م ضمن بطولة العالم في يوجين الشهر الماضي في طريقه إلى حصد الميدالية الذهبية، علما بأن الرقم القياسي العالمي لهذا السباق بحوزة الأسطورة الجامايكي اوساين بولت وقدره 19.19 ثانية سجله، في 20 أغسطس عام 2009 في بطولة العالم في برلين.
أما في سباق 1500م، فقد سجل العداء النرويجي جاكوب اينجبريجتسن، بطل أوروبا قبل أيام، التوقيت الأفضل في السباق هذا العام بزمن قدره 3:29.05 دقائق.
وتفوق العداء النرويجي، الذي توج بالذهبية الأولمبية في طوكيو عام 2021 وحل ثانيا في بطولة العالم الأخيرة في يوجين، على الكيني أبل كيبسانج (3:29.93 د) والاسترالي ستيوارت ماكسيون (3:30.18 د).
وفي سباق 110 أمتار حواجز، حقق الجامايكي رشيد برودبل المفاجأة بحلوله في المركز الأول مسجلا 12.99 ثانية (رقم قياسي شخصي) أمام الأمريكيين تري كانينجهام (13.10 ث) وبطل العالم غرانت هولواي (13.11 ث).
وشهد سباق 100 م للسيدات المنتظر بين أفضل العداءات في العالم 3 مفاجآت: تمثلت الأولى بانسحاب الجامايكية شيلي-آن فرايزر-برايس بطلة العالم قبل وقت قليل من انطلاق السباق، ثم بالانطلاقة الخاطئة لمواطنتها ايلاين تومسون-هيراه وبالتالي استبعادها من السباق، والثالثة بفوز الأمريكية المغمورة ألييا هوبس مسجلة 10.87 ثانية، متقدمة بفارق ضئيل على كل من الجامايكية شيريكا جاكسون (10.88 ث) والعاجية ماري جوزيه تالو (10.89 ث).
وفي سباق 400 م، حققت العداءة الهولندية فيمكي بول فوزا متوقعا في سباق 400 م حواجز بتسجيلها 52.95 ثانية، فيما خيبت حاملة الرقم القياسي العالمي في هذه المسافة الأمريكية دليلة محمد الآمال بحلولها سابعة.
