Qatar’s first-ever Olympic gold medalist, Fares Ibrahim, is intensifying his preparations for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, aiming for his second consecutive title after his triumph in Tokyo.
In the Tokyo Games, Fares shattered two Olympic records, setting new marks for the clean and jerk at 225kg and a total lift of 402kg in the 96kg category. As the 96kg category has been eliminated, the 26-year-old weightlifter will now compete in the 102kg category, starting today.
Fares recently moved his training camp to Paris from Italy, where he had been training alongside Italian weightlifters. His father and coach, Ibrahim Hassouna, highlighted the success of the Italian camp, emphasizing how much Fares benefited from the experience and the guidance of the coaches.
