Qatar, Turkey are an Outstanding Model for Distinguished, Strong Relations

Doha: In their editorials on Friday, Qatari newspapers highlighted the importance of Qatari-Turkish relations and their distinctiveness in various fields, a matter which enabled such relations to be at the level of strategic and comprehensive partnership.

In this regard, the newspapers outlined the results of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani’s visit to Turkey yesterday, where His Highness held talks with HE President of the Turkish Republic Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in addition to the new agreements and frameworks for cooperation and integration between the two countries reached during the sixth meeting of the Qatar-Turkey Supreme Strategic Committee.

The newspapers said that the regular convening of the Qatar-Turkey Supreme Strategic Committee at the highest level every year is an indication of the strength of these relations, and a strong evidence of the two countries’ commitment, as strategic allies, to strengthening their partnership in various fields, highlighting the great convergence at the level of leaders and people, commonalities between the two countries, and unlimited solidarity between them in times of crises, along with the converging and harmonious political visions in many files and issues, as well as the sincere and continuous efforts made by the two sides to maintain this distinguished level of relations.

In its editorial entitled “Qatar and Turkey … a strategic partnership”, Al-Sharq affirmed that the Qatari-Turkish relations are fraternal, historical and strong, and are developing towards broader horizons, thanks to the wise leaderships of the two countries.

It said that the talks held by HH the Amir with HE the Turkish President reflected the common will to consolidate fraternal relations and strategic partnership, and that the Supreme Committee meeting witnessed the signing of 10 agreements and memoranda of understanding in various fields.

The newspaper pointed out that the Qatari-Turkish relations have become a model and a source of inspiration in the interest of the two brotherly peoples. These relations have proven their strength, durability and solidity, and have reached the level of comprehensive and solid strategic partnership, and this is what the two leaderships in the two countries agreed upon, it said, noting that continuous coordination and consultation would help strengthen relations and congruence of visions and positions on regional and international issues, in a way that contributes to consolidating international stability and security by adopting diplomacy that calls for the peaceful resolution of disputes.

Al-Sharq concluded its editorial by saying that the meeting’s fruitful results, agreements and memoranda of understanding will lead to exploring new horizons. They will also contribute to strengthening and developing existing cooperation mechanisms, achieving more joint cooperation and prosperous relations based on common interests, mutual respect, and noble goals, in view of the existence of great political harmony between the two countries, especially that they have a solid and unwavering alliance.

In its editorial entitled “Successful visit and important discussions”, Al-Raya affirmed that the visit of HH the Amir to Ankara and his talks with HE the Turkish President have strategic importance for Qatari-Turkish relations in various fields, and confirm the two leaders’ keenness on the development of these relations which have become a “comprehensive strategic partnership” and a model for relations between brotherly and friendly countries.

The newspaper added that the two leaders’ talks covered comprehensive strategic cooperation relations between the two brotherly countries in various fields, especially political, economic, investment, defense, energy, education, transport and sports.

It explained that the sixth meeting of the Qatar-Turkey Supreme Strategic Committee, which co-chaired by His Highness and HE the Turkish President, reflected the firm commitment and sincere desire of the leaders of the two countries to strengthen and advance the joint cooperation relations for the benefit of the two brotherly peoples, pointing to HH the Amir’s assertion that the talks were successful and focused on the Qatari-Turkish partnership, regional and global issues and developments, and the Turkish President’s assertion that Ankara will continue to strengthen its solidarity with the Qatari people, noting that the two peoples are bound by “solid friendly relations.”

Al-Raya said that the meeting came as an affirmation of the great and common desire to achieve political and economic integration, noting that its results are important, especially in view of the Qatari-Turkish partnership and the continuous coordination between the leaders of the two countries on various issues of the region.

It pointed out that Qatar and Turkey signed 10 agreements yesterday in various fields, most notably the joint investment in the Golden Horn project in Istanbul, the stock exchange, and joint promotion activities in free zones, confirming that the bilateral relations between the two countries have witnessed great progress in recent years in all fields, and that the two countries have become strategic partners cooperating on many issues at the bilateral, regional and international levels.

Al-Raya said that the regular convening of the Qatar-Turkey Supreme Strategic Committee at the highest level every year is an indication of the strength of these relations, and a strong evidence of the two countries’ commitment, as strategic allies, to strengthening their partnership in various fields, stressing that the meeting has a special importance in view of the political, economic, regional and international challenges that make it necessary for the two countries to consult, coordinate and exchange views regarding them in a way that contributes to achieving their common interests and in a way that enhances their role in promoting security and peace in the region and the world.

The newspaper concluded by saying that the results of HH the Amir’s visit to Turkey and his talks with HE President Erdogan in addition to the sixth meeting of the Qatar-Turkey Supreme Strategic Committee and the resulting agreements, will add great impetus to Qatari-Turkish relations and lead to exploring new horizons in strengthening and developing the existing cooperation mechanisms that have turned into a “comprehensive strategic partnership in all fields.”

In its editorial under the title “Qatar and Turkey … a comprehensive strategic partnership”, Al-Watan highlighted HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani’s important visit to Ankara yesterday and his talks with HE President of the Turkish Republic Recep Tayyip Erdogan, saying it reflects the continuous coordination between the two sides to exchange views on the most prominent current issues on the regional and international arenas.

The newspaper focused on the results of the sixth meeting of the Qatar-Turkey Supreme Strategic Committee, which was held at the Presidential Palace in Ankara, and reviewed the results of the joint supreme committee’s work in its past years, and the aspects of strengthening and developing its close work in the interests of the two brotherly countries and peoples.

It said that the meeting of this session, which was held under the chairmanship of His Highness and HE the Turkish President, reflected the firm commitment and sincere desire of the leaders of the two countries to strengthen joint cooperation relations and advance them for the benefit of the two peoples and the two states, adding that this session dealt with ways of consolidating the strategic partnership between the two brotherly countries in various fields, exchanging views on regional and international issues of common interest, in addition to signing a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding.

Al-Watan highlighted the importance of the agreements signed during the session, including the signing of a memorandum to purchase a stake in Istinye Park shopping center, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Qatar Investment Authority and Altin Halic on potential joint investment in the Golden Horn project, a memorandum to purchase a stake in Borsa Istanbul, an agreement selling and purchasing Ortadogu Antalya port between Global Liman and QTerminals, and a memorandum of understanding between Qatar Free Zones Authority and the Turkish Ministry of Trade on cooperating in the field of free zones.

The newspaper outlined some of the results of the current session in Ankara and praised the signing of joint announcement on the establishment of a joint economic and trade committee between the Qatari Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Turkish Ministry of Trade, a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of managing water, a letter of intent between the Qatari Ministry of Finance and the Turkish Ministry of Finance and Treasury that aims to enhance cooperation in the economic and financial fields, a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in family, women, and social services affairs, a declaration of intent on exchanging diplomats between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Diplomatic Institute and the Diplomacy Academy of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and others.

In its editorial entitled “Qatar and Turkey are an example of distinguished relations”, Lusail newspaper highlighted the meeting of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during their chairmanship of the sixth session of the joint Supreme Strategic Committee yesterday, saying it reflected the strength and durability of Qatari-Turkish relations, and the two leaders’ emphasis on promoting relations and joint cooperation in all fields.

It added that His Highness affirmed this by saying: “We agreed to employ more of our countries’ capabilities to consolidate this partnership, which is constantly evolving,” noting that the two leaders’ discussions showed their joint keenness and determination to continue to support and strengthen fraternal relations and strategic participation, in addition to joint coordination and consultation, as well as the exchange of views on many files, especially the situation in Palestine, Libya and Syria, in light of the accelerating political, economic, regional and international challenges in the region.

The newspaper stressed that the meeting of the sixth meeting of the Qatar-Turkey Supreme Strategic Committee and its regular convening at the highest levels every year is an indication of the strength of relations and commitment to strengthening the partnership between Doha and Ankara in all fields and developing existing cooperation mechanisms to achieve their common interests.

Lusail pointed out that the meeting witnessed discussions and consultations that opened many windows to develop joint cooperation, and culminated in a momentum of agreements in the economic, investment, commercial and political fields, energy, defense, transportation, sports, finance and free zones. These will be added to 52 agreements previously signed, as the number of agreements between the two countries is expected to reach 60.

It stressed that this form of cooperation between the two countries and the distinctiveness of these diverse agreements in vital areas will definitely enhance the bilateral partnership and strategic cooperation between them and push it to the highest levels in the next stage in order to meet the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples.

Lusail concluded its editorial by saying that the Qatari-Turkish partnership has proven its credibility, durability and robustness, and will be a vivid example of strategic partnerships and distinguished relations between countries, to confirm that the relations between Doha and Ankara are witnessing more solidarity and strength and continued distinctiveness and development in a way that serves the strategic interests of the two countries.

In its editorial titled “Serving the interests of the Qatari and Turkish peoples”, Al-Arab newspaper termed the meeting between HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and HE President of the Turkish Republic Recep Tayyip Erdogan yesterday as a new start on the road to developing the close strategic fraternal relations between the two brotherly countries and means of supporting and strengthening them in wider areas.

Al-Arab explained that the meeting, which took place in the Presidential Palace in Ankara, gained special importance as it was held simultaneously with the sixth session of the joint Supreme Strategic Committee, and in view of the regional and international conditions affecting the situation in the Middle East.

The newspaper added that the results of the meeting of the sixth session of the Supreme Strategic Committee between the two countries, co-chaired by HH the Amir and President Erdogan, showed that Qatar and Turkey are constantly moving forward to strengthen relations to serve the interests of the two peoples, where HH the Amir and the Turkish President witnessed the signing of a memorandum to purchase a stake in Istinye Park shopping center, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Qatar Investment Authority and Altin Halic on potential joint investment in the Golden Horn project, and a memorandum to purchase a stake in Borsa Istanbul, in addition to other areas of strong strategic relations between the two countries.

The daily quoted what HH the Amir wrote on his Twitter account, where His Highness highlighted the importance of relations with Turkey for the peoples of the two countries, and described his talks with President Erdogan as successful, and praised the agreement to “employ more of our countries’ capabilities to consolidate this partnership, which is constantly evolving for the goodness and interests of our people.”

The daily pointed out that observers agree that the relations between the two countries are a model to be followed by other states and leaders, adding it is remarkable that the meetings between HH the Amir and the Turkish President during seventy months reached 28 meetings, which confirms the depth of Qatari-Turkish relations, especially since President Erdogan had previously – in a gesture of appreciation to the State of Qatar – chosen Doha as the first Arab country to visit after his inauguration as President of the Republic for the first time at the end of August 2014, while recalling that on Qatar’s National Day that was marked on December 18, 2016, HH the Amir travelled to Turkey and held talks with President Erdogan, which reflects the peculiarity of the strategic relations between the two countries.

Al-Arab reiterated that the relations between Doha and Ankara would see greater stability, depth and more coordination in light of the growing roles of the two countries, which have emerged as influential players and emerging powers on the regional and international arenas.

In its editorial titled “Qatar – Turkey ties”, The Peninsula said that HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani’s visit to Ankara comes on the heels of back-to-back meetings between Qatar and Turkey at the highest level in recent years, adding that HH the Amir and HE Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan chaired the sixth meeting of the Qatar-Turkey Supreme Strategic Committee in Ankara, yesterday.

The relationship between Doha and Ankara, the newspaper said, is rooted decades of close ties. In recent years the two countries have increased bilateral cooperation in various fields including tourism, defense and knowledge sharing, it said.

The daily Qatar-Turkey Supreme Strategic Committee has been convening annually since its first meeting in Doha in 2015. Ever since the two countries have signed 52 agreements to enhance cooperation in diverse fields.

A number of agreements in the fields of economy, culture, trade, education, Islamic and family affairs, and water management were signed at the sixth round, it said.

The Peninsula pointed out that the trade ties between the two countries have increased tremendously over the past years, and currently more than 500 Turkish companies are operating in Qatar. The total value of the projects undertaken by Turkish contracting companies since 2002 is $18.5bn, it said.

Similarly, Qatari investment and the footprint of Qatari companies in Turkey has also increased as currently 280 Qatari firms are engaged in various sectors in Turkey and the Qatari investments in Turkey have risen to $22bn, the newspaper said, noting that Qatar-Turkey bilateral trade volume has tripled over the past five years to more than $2bn in 2019.

The number of Qatari tourists to Turkey has also increased tremendously from about 30,000 in 2014, to about 110,000 in 2019, it said.

The Peninsula said the two countries have also worked closely on many issues at the bilateral, regional and international levels for years, and Turkey has also been a strong supporter for Doha’s mediatory role for peaceful resolution of conflicts in the region and elsewhere. It added that Turkish President, who recently visited Doha, has termed the bilateral cooperation with Qatar a win-win partnership.

الدوحة: أجمعت الصحف القطرية الصادرة يوم الأمس في افتتاحياتها، على أهمية العلاقات القطرية – التركية وتميزها في مختلف المجالات، ما مكنها من بلوغ مرحلة العلاقات الإستراتيجية والشراكة الشاملة.

صحيفة /لوسيل/ من جهتها، توقفت في افتتاحيتها بعنوان /قطر وتركيا نموذج للعلاقات المتميزة/، مع لقاء حضرة صاحب السمو الشيخ تميم بن حمد آل ثاني أمير البلاد المفدى والرئيس التركي رجب طيب أردوغان خلال ترؤسهما أمس اجتماع الدورة السادسة للجنة الاستراتيجية العليا المشتركة، وقالت إنه “يعكس قوة ومتانة العلاقات القطرية – التركية، وتأكيد القيادتين على دفع العلاقات والتعاون المشترك للأمام في كافة المجالات”.

وأضافت أن صاحب السمو أكد هذه المضامين بقوله: “اتفقنا على توظيف المزيد من إمكانيات بلدينا لتوطيد هذه الشراكة التي تتطور باستمرار”، مشيرة إلى أن مباحثات الزعيمين أظهرت حرصهما وعزمهما المشترك على “مواصلة دعم وتعزيز العلاقات الأخوية والمشاركة الاستراتيجية”، إضافة إلى التنسيق المشترك والتشاور وتبادل وجهات النظر حيال العديد من الملفات خاصة الأوضاع في فلسطين وليبيا وسوريا في ظل التحديات السياسية والاقتصادية والإقليمية والدولية المتسارعة في المنطقة.

وشددت الصحيفة على أن اجتماع الدورة السادسة للجنة العليا الاستراتيجية والانعقاد المنتظم لها على أعلى المستويات كل عام، مؤشر على متانة العلاقات والالتزام بتعزيز الشراكة بين الدوحة وأنقرة في كافة المجالات وتطوير آليات التعاون القائمة تحقيقا لمصالحهما المشتركة.

ولفتت /لوسيل/ إلى أن الاجتماع شهد مناقشات ومشاورات فتحت نوافذ كثيرة لتطوير التعاون المشترك، وتوج بزخم من الاتفاقيات في المجالات الاقتصادية والاستثمارية والتجارية والسياسية وفي الطاقة والدفاع والنقل والرياضة والمالية والمناطق الحرة تضاف إلى 52 اتفاقية تم توقيعها سابقا، حيث يتوقع أن يتجاوز عدد الاتفاقيات بين البلدين نحو 60.

وأكدت أن هذا النحو من التعاون بين البلدين وتميز هذه الاتفاقيات بالتنوع في المجالات الحيوية، كفيل بتعزيز الشراكة الثنائية والتعاون الاستراتيجي بينهما ودفعه إلى أعلى المستويات في المرحلة المقبلة بما يلبي تطلعات وطموحات الشعبين الشقيقين.

واختتمت /لوسيل/ افتتاحيتها بالقول: “إن الشراكة القطرية التركية أثبتت مصداقيتها ومتانتها وصلابتها وستكون نموذجا حيا للشراكات الاستراتيجية والعلاقات المتميزة بين الدول، لتؤكد أن العلاقات بين الدوحة وأنقرة تشهد المزيد من الرسوخ والقوة واستمرار تميزها وتطورها بما يخدم المصالح الاستراتيجية للبلدين”.

من جهتها، اعتبرت صحيفة /العرب/ في افتتاحيتها بعنوان /خدمة مصالح الشعبين القطري والتركي/ اللقاء الذي جمع، أمس، حضرة صاحب السمو الشيخ تميم بن حمد آل ثاني أمير البلاد المفدى، بأخيه فخامة الرئيس رجب طيب أردوغان رئيس الجمهورية التركية، بمثابة “محطة جديدة في طريق تطوير العلاقات الأخوية الاستراتيجية الوثيقة بين البلدين الشقيقين، وسبل دعمها وتعزيزها في مجالات أوسع”.

وأوضحت /العرب/ أن اللقاء الذي جرى في القصر الرئاسي بمدينة أنقرة، اكتسب أهمية خاصة، كونه عقد متزامنا مع اجتماع الدورة السادسة للجنة الاستراتيجية العليا القطرية – التركية، فضلا عن الظروف الإقليمية والدولية التي تؤثر على الأوضاع في الشرق الأوسط.

وأضافت أن ما تمخض عنه اجتماع الدورة السادسة للجنة الاستراتيجية العليا بين البلدين، برئاسة سمو الأمير والرئيس أردوغان، أظهر أن قطر وتركيا تخطوان باستمرار في طريق علاقة قوية لخدمة مصالح الشعبين، “حيث شهد سمو الأمير والرئيس التركي، التوقيع على مذكرة شراء حصة من مجمع /استنيا بارك/ التجاري، ومذكرة تفاهم بين جهاز قطر للاستثمار وشركة /هاليك التون/ تتعلق بالاستثمار المشترك المحتمل في مشروع /غولدن هورن/، ومذكرة شراء حصة من بورصة اسطنبول، وغير ذلك من مجالات العلاقات الاستراتيجية الوطيدة بين البلدين”.

واقتبست الصحيفة ما كتبه سمو أمير البلاد المفدى على حساب سموه بموقع /تويتر/، حيث أوضح أهمية العلاقات مع تركيا لشعبي البلدين، ووصف المحادثات مع الرئيس أردوغان بالناجحة، منوها بالاتفاق على “توظيف المزيد من إمكانيات بلدينا لتوطيد هذه الشراكة التي تتطور باستمرار لما فيه خير ومصلحة شعبينا”.

وأشارت إلى أن المراقبين مجمعون على أن العلاقات بين البلدين تعد نموذجا يحتذى به في العلاقات بين الدول والقادة، قائلة: “اللافت أنه خلال سبعين شهرا، تعددت اللقاءات بين صاحب السمو وشقيقه الرئيس التركي على هذا المدى الزمني القصير، ووصلت إلى 28 لقاء، بما يؤكد عمق العلاقات القطرية – التركية، خاصة أن الرئيس أردوغان سبق – في بادرة حملت معاني التقدير لدولة قطر- أن اختار الدوحة كأول محطة عربية يزورها، بعد انتخابه وتنصيبه رئيسا للجمهورية لأول مرة نهاية أغسطس 2014، ونذكر أيضا في هذا الصدد، أنه في اليوم الوطني لدولة قطر 18 ديسمبر 2016، توجه أمير البلاد المفدى إلى تركيا، وعقد مباحثات مع أخيه الرئيس أردوغان، ما يعكس خصوصية العلاقة الاستراتيجية بين البلدين”.

وجددت /العرب/ التأكيد على أن العلاقات بين الدوحة وأنقرة، تبقى مرشحة لمزيد من الرسوخ والعمق ومزيد من التنسيق، “في ظل تنامي أدوار البلدين اللذين برزا باعتبارهما لاعبين مؤثرين وقوتين صاعدتين على الساحتين الإقليمية والدولية”.

بدورها، قالت صحيفة /البيننسولا/ الناطقة باللغة الانجليزية، في افتتاحيتها بعنوان /العلاقات القطرية – التركية/، إن زيارة حضرة صاحب السمو الشيخ تميم بن حمد آل ثاني أمير البلاد المفدى، إلى أنقرة، تأتي في سياق اجتماعات متتالية بين قطر وتركيا على أعلى المستويات في السنوات الأخيرة، مشيرة إلى ترؤس سمو الأمير المفدى وفخامة الرئيس التركي، اجتماع الدورة السادسة للجنة الاستراتيجية العليا القطرية التركية في أنقرة أمس.

ونوهت الصحيفة إلى أن العلاقات بين الدوحة وأنقرة تعود إلى عقود من الزمن وتشمل علاقات وثيقة في عدد من الجوانب، منوهة إلى أن البلدين عززا هذا التعاون الثنائي في السنوات الأخيرة في مختلف المجالات بما في ذلك الاقتصاد والاستثمار والسياحة والدفاع وتبادل المعرفة، وغيرها.

وقالت إن اللجنة الاستراتيجية العليا القطرية – التركية دأبت على عقد اجتماعاتها بشكل سنوي منذ اجتماعها الأول في الدوحة عام 2015، وأنه منذ ذلك الوقت وقع البلدان 52 اتفاقية لتعزيز التعاون في مختلف المجالات، مشيرة إلى أن الدورة السادسة للجنة شهدت توقيع عدد من الاتفاقيات في مجالات الاقتصاد والثقافة والتجارة والتعليم والشؤون الإسلامية والشؤون الأسرية وإدارة المياه.

وأكدت الصحيفة أن العلاقات التجارية بين البلدين نمت بشكل كبير خلال السنوات الماضية، منوهة إلى أن أكثر من 500 شركة تركية تعمل حاليا في دولة قطر، وأن القيمة الإجمالية للمشاريع التي نفذتها شركات المقاولات التركية منذ عام 2002 وصلت إلى 18.5 مليار دولار.

وفي المقابل، أشارت /البيننسولا/ إلى زيادة الاستثمار القطري وعدد الشركات القطرية في تركيا حيث تعمل هناك حاليا 280 شركة قطرية في مختلف القطاعات، كما ارتفعت الاستثمارات القطرية في تركيا إلى 22 مليار دولار، مبينة أن حجم التجارة الثنائية بين الدوحة وأنقرة تضاعف ثلاث مرات خلال السنوات الخمس الماضية ليبلغ أكثر من ملياري دولار في عام 2019، كما ارتفع عدد السياح القطريين إلى تركيا بشكل كبير من حوالي 30 ألفا في عام 2014 إلى حوالي 110 آلاف في عام 2019.

واختتمت الصحيفة افتتاحيتها بالقول، إن البلدين عملا عن كثب في العديد من القضايا على المستويات الثنائية والإقليمية والدولية لسنوات، مشيرة إلى دور تركيا الداعم والقوي لجهود قطر كوسيط في الحل السلمي للنزاعات في المنطقة وغيرها، مبرزة

في هذا السياق تصريحا سابقا للرئيس التركي خلال إحدى زياراته للدوحة وصف فيه التعاون الثنائي مع قطر بأنه “شراكة رابحة”.
