Amir leads National Sport Day

DOHA: Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani participated in the activities of Qatar Sport Day yesterday, as H H the Amir visited Aspire Zone Foundation’s Football Skills Development Center.

During the visit, H H the Amir participated in different kinds of sport activities held by members of the Aspire Academy in the playground. H H the Amir was also briefed on the facilities of the Center and on the state-of-the-art technology used to train and develop the skills of its members.

H H the Amir was accompanied during the visit by H H Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, Personal Representative of H H the Amir; President of Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) Gianni Infantino, and senior officials of Qatar Football Association and Aspire Zone Foundation.

H H Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF), yesterday attended QF’s National Sport Day celebrations at Education City.

The National Sport Day activities at QF were also attended by H E Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani, Vice-Chairperson and CEO of Qatar Foundation; H E Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee;

H E Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad Al Thani; Robert Skinner, Executive Director at United Nations Office for Partnerships; Ibtihaj Muhammad, US Olympic fencer; and Conor Dwyer, US Olympic swimmer as well as members of the wider community.

Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani also participated in the activities of Qatar Sport Day organiaed by the Ministry of Interior in Qatar Sports Club court.
H E the Prime Minister and Interior Minister, in his capacity as Lekhwiya force commander, also participated with the force’s personnel in their National Sports Day celebration, which was held at Lekhwiya arenas and grounds in the presence of a large number of military and civilian members of the force.
The National Sport Day was celebrated across the country with participation of thousands of citizens and residents. At Aspire Zone, the celebrations were attended by more than 30,000 people of all ages. Community members, families and children enjoyed 30 sporting events across Aspire’s world-class venues.
Every corner of Aspire Zone was occupied with a sporting event.
Katara Cultural Village, MIA Park, Education City, The Pearl-Qatar and dozens of other venues turned into sporting hubs where thousands of people gathered to celebrate the day.

شارك حضرة صاحب السمو الشيخ تميم بن حمد آل ثاني أمير البلاد المفدى، صباح أمس، في فعاليات اليوم الرياضي للدولة، حيث زار سموه مركز تطوير مهارات كرة القدم، التابع لمؤسسة أسباير زون.

وخلال الزيارة، شارك سموه منتسبي أكاديمية أسباير عدداً من الفعاليات الرياضية المختلفة المقامة في الملعب، كما اطلع سموه على مرافق المركز، وعلى الوسائل التكنولوجية المتطورة المستخدمة في تدريب وتطوير مهارات منتسبيه.

رافق سمو الأمير خلال الزيارة وشارك في الفعاليات، سمو الشيخ جاسم بن حمد آل ثاني الممثل الشخصي للأمير، وسعادة السيد جياني إنفانتينو رئيس الاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم «فيفا»، وعدد من كبار المسؤولين في الاتحاد القطري لكرة القدم ومؤسسة أسباير زون.;
