Series of Films Highlighted Green Hospitality in Qatar

Doha: Qatar Green Building Council (QGBC) has participated with the World Green Building Council and the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), in the production of a film in a series of films entitled “Building a Better Future”, that explores the impact of buildings on the lifestyles of residents, and the role green buildings play in confronting the climate change crisis.
The series also highlights innovative models and applications of best practices in the construction sector in order to increase awareness and drive change in the methods of building design, construction and operation.
The film, which was released on Nov. 18, focuses on hospitality and green hotel initiatives in Qatar as part of preparations to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup, and deals with the role of the Qatar Green Building Council in the rapid development of the hospitality sector.
The film highlights the sustainable practices of hotels certified by the “Green Key Award” in Qatar, especially the Education City stadium and other stadiums that will host the 2022 World Cup, and the achievements of the Qatar Green Building Council initiatives to support and accelerate the achievement of sustainability goals in the country.
The film sheds light on green practices in three distinct hotels, namely: Sheraton Grand Doha Resort & Convention Hotel, the W Doha and the Mandarin Oriental Doha, which apply green key policies and strategies and best green practices that are observed in operations.
QGBC Director Meshal Al Shamari stated that the World Green Building Council is an important partner and supporter of the Qatar Green Building Council in promoting the trend towards adopting green buildings in the country, and QGBC is proud to cooperate with it and with the BBC in this innovative project.
It is worth noting that the Qatar Green Building Council provides a practical model for implementing sustainable best practices that can be applied at the local and global level. The council provides a model for the rest of the institutions and organizations that demonstrates the way hotels can achieve leadership in luxury and sustainability standards.

الدوحة: شارك مجلس قطر للمباني الخضراء مع المجلس العالمي للمباني الخضراء وهيئة الإذاعة البريطانية (بي بي سي)، في إنتاج فيلم ضمن سلسلة أفلام بعنوان “بناء مستقبل أفضل”، حيث يستكشف الفيلم التأثير العميق للمباني على مستوى حياة السكان وأساليب معيشتهم، والدور الذي تقوم به المباني الخضراء في مواجهة أزمة التغير المناخي .
وتسلط السلسلة أيضا الضوء على النماذج والتطبيقات المبتكرة لأفضل ممارسات قطاع البناء من أجل زيادة الوعي ودفع عجلة التغيير في أساليب وطرق تصميم المباني وبنائها وتشغيلها.
ويركز الفيلم، الذي تم إصداره في 18 نوفمبر الجاري، على مبادرات الضيافة والفنادق الخضراء في قطر في إطار الاستعدادات لاستضافة بطولة كأس العالم لكرة القدم 2022، ويتناول الفيلم دور مجلس قطر للمباني الخضراء في التطور السريع الذي يشهده قطاع الضيافة والفنادق ضمن الاستعدادات لإقامة البطولة العالمية.
ويبرز الفيلم الممارسات المستدامة للفنادق الحاصلة على اعتماد “المفتاح الأخضر” في قطر، والمجتمعات والمنشآت الخضراء في قطر، لا سيما إستاد المدينة التعليمية والاستادات الأخرى التي ستستضيف مونديال 2022، والإنجازات التي حققتها مبادرات مجلس قطر للمباني الخضراء لدعم وتسريع تحقيق أهداف الاستدامة في البلاد.
كما يسلط الفيلم الضوء على الممارسات الخضراء في ثلاثة فنادق متميزة هي فندق ومنتجع شيراتون الدوحة، وفندق دبليو الدوحة، وفندق ماندارين اورينتال الدوحة، التي تطبق سياسات واستراتيجيات المفتاح الأخضر وأفضل الممارسات الخضراء التي يتم مراعاتها في العمليات.
وصرح السيد مشعل الشمري، مدير مجلس قطر للمباني الخضراء بأن “المجلس العالمي للمباني الخضراء شريك مهم وداعم لمجلس قطر للمباني الخضراء في تعزيز التوجه نحو تبني المباني الخضراء في البلاد، ونحن نعتز بالتعاون معه وهيئة الإذاعة البريطانية في هذا المشروع المبدع”.
جدير بالذكر أن مجلس قطر للمباني الخضراء يقدم نموذجا عمليا لتطبيق أفضل ممارسات الاستدامة القابلة للتوسيع والتطبيق، سواء على المستوى المحلي أو العالمي. ويوفر المجلس نموذجا لبقية المؤسسات والمنظمات يوضح سبل تحقيق الفنادق للريادة في معايير الفخامة والرفاهية والاستدامة، ومواكبة رحلة قطر في السعي نحو الاستدامة.
