MOPH Reduces Isolation Period for COVID-19 Confirmed Cases to Seven Days

Doha: The Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) has reduced the mandatory period of isolation and sick leave for confirmed COVID-19 cases from 10 days to 7 days.

In a statement on Monday, the MOPH said that individuals who test positive for COVID-19 on a test done at medical facilities and whose Ehteraz changes to red status, will automatically be eligible for 7 days sick-leave. These individuals will be required to have a rapid antigen test at a medical facility authorized by the Ministry on day 7. If the result of this test is negative, the individual’s Ehteraz status will change to green and they will be able to leave isolation and return to work on day 8.

If the day 7 rapid antigen test is positive, the individual must undergo a further 3 days of isolation and will be given additional 3 days of sick-leave and they are free to leave isolation on day 11 with no requirement for a further test.

The Ministry stated that the decision to reduce the isolation period has been made following a review of the latest local and international clinical evidence showing that most people will be negative by day 7 and pose low or no risk of transferring the virus to others.

The Ministry stressed the need for people to follow the standard precautionary measures when ending their isolation period. This includes wearing a mask as per the government policy, maintaining social distancing and good hand hygiene.

الدوحة: أعلنت وزارة الصحة العامة عن خفض مدة العزل الصحي الإلزامية ومدة الإجازة المرضية لحالات الإصابة المؤكدة بفيروس كورونا /كوفيد-19/ من 10 أيام إلى سبعة أيام.

وقالت وزارة الصحة في بيان صادر عنها، إن الأفراد الذين يقومون بإجراء فحص /كوفيد-19/ في المراكز الطبية وتثبت إصابتهم وتتغير الحالة على تطبيق احتراز لديهم إلى اللون الأحمر مؤهلون بشكل تلقائي للحصول على إجازة مرضية لمدة 7 أيام، على أن يقوم هؤلاء الأفراد بإجراء فحص المستضدات السريع في أحد المرافق الطبية المعتمدة لدى وزارة الصحة العامة في اليوم السابع، وفي حال كانت نتيجة الفحص سلبية، ستتغير الحالة على تطبيق احتراز إلى اللون الأخضر مما يتيح لهم إنهاء فترة العزل الصحي واستئناف العمل في اليوم الثامن.

وبينت الوزارة أنه إذا كانت نتيجة فحص المستضدات السريع إيجابية، فيتوجب على المصاب الخضوع للعزل الصحي لثلاثة أيام أخرى وسيتم منحه إجازة مرضية لثلاثة أيام إضافية، وسيكون بإمكانه الخروج من العزل الصحي في اليوم الحادي عشر دون الحاجة لإجراء فحص آخر.

وأوضحت وزارة الصحة أن قرار خفض فترة العزل الصحي قد تم اتخاذه بعد مراجعة أحدث الأدلة السريرية المحلية والدولية والتي أظهرت أن نتيجة فحص معظم المصابين تكون سلبية بحلول اليوم السابع ويكون معدل خطورة نقلهم الفيروس للآخرين من منخفض إلى منعدم.

وأهابت الوزارة بالجميع بأهمية الالتزام بالإجراءات الاحترازية، والمتمثلة بارتداء الكمامات وفقًا للقيود الاحترازية الحكومية المتبعة، والالتزام بالتباعد الاجتماعي وغسل اليدين بانتظام.
