Scientists from Flinders University and the South Australian Institute of Medical Research and Healthcare have conducted a first-of-its-kind study on the effect of antibiotics on healthy animals from childhood to old age.
Cell Reports, according to Novosti News Agency, notes that the results of a study conducted by Australian scientists on mice showed that antibiotics themselves do not affect human longevity, but rather changes in the gut microbiome.
Researchers discovered a relationship between the type of microbiome, which lives in the intestines after taking antibiotics, and the short life expectancy of mice.
“For the first time, we have followed the impact of changes in the gut microbiome of mice as a result of taking antibiotics at an early age, throughout their lives.” Lead researcher Professor David Lean said.
It became clear to the researchers that after the prolonged effect of antibiotics, serious changes occur in the diversity of the gut microbiome, which indicates a problem in the metabolism process, and various infections appeared in all tissues of her body, including the blood, liver and brain.
“The results of the study show that the microbiome that resides in the gut after taking antibiotics can reprogram the mammalian immune system with far-reaching effects, including affecting the metabolism and even lifespan.” He added.

وتشير مجلة Cell Reports- بحسب وكالة نوفوستي للأنباء – إلى أن نتائج الدراسة التي أجراها العلماء الأستراليون على الفئران، أظهرت أن المضادات الحيوية نفسها لا تؤثر في طول عمر الإنسان، بل التغيرات التي تحدثها في ميكروبيوم الأمعاء هي التي تؤثر.
واكتشف الباحثون علاقة بين نوع الميكروبيوم، الذي يعيش في الأمعاء بعد تناول المضادات الحيوية، وقصر متوسط طول العمر المتوقع للفئران.
ويقول البروفيسور ديفيد لين، رئيس فريق البحث، “لأول مرة تابعنا تأثير التغيرات الحاصلة في ميكروبيوم أمعاء الفئران نتيجة تناول المضادات الحيوية في عمر مبكر، طوال حياتها”.
واتضح للباحثينن أنه بعد التأثير الطويل للمضادات الحيوية، تحصل تغيرات جدية في تنوع ميكروبيوم الأمعاء، ما يشير إلى وجود مشكلة في عملية التمثيل الغذائي، كما ظهرت التهابات مختلفة في جميع أنسجة جسمها بما فيها الدم والكبد والدماغ.
ويضيف، “يظهر من نتائج الدراسة، أن الميكروبيوم الذي يستوطن الأمعاء ثانية بعد تناول المضادات الحيوية يمكنه إعادة برمجة منظومة المناعة لدى الثدييات مع تأثيرات بعيدة المدى، بما فيها التأثير في عملية التمثيل الغذائي وحتى في متوسط العمر”.
