Miguel Russo Sacked After Disappointing Start with Boca Juniors

Buenos Aries: Boca Juniors, the Argentine football champions, sacked coach Miguel Angel Russo after his disastrous start to the current season.

Russo was linked to a contract with Boca until next December, after he returned to take over the technical tasks in January 2020, and leading the team to win the local league title.

The team of the late legend Diego Armando Maradona is in the 24th place in the league (out of 26 teams) after 6 stages with 4 points from 4 draws and 2 losses, scoring two goals and conceding 5 goals.

The Argentine coach and former midfielder had previously supervised Boca in 2007 and succeeded during that period in leading him to win the Copa Libertadores title, the most important tournament for South American clubs and parallel to the European Champions League.

Sebastian Battaglia, who supervises the reserve team, will coach the first team temporarily.
