S. Korea Extends Special Travel Advisory Until Nov. 17

Seoul: South Korea has extended its special travel advisory by another month, calling on citizens to cancel or postpone trips abroad as the COVID-19 pandemic continues.

The latest measure, which recommends citizens cancel or postpone their overseas travel plans, will remain in place until Nov. 17. The current advisory, issued for the third time Sept. 19, is set to expire Sunday.

“The extension this time comes in consideration of the continued spread of the COVID-19 pandemic across the world and a considerable number of countries continuing entry bans and restrictions and the suspension of flights,” the South Korean Foreign Ministry said in a press release.

The government first issued the special advisory on March 23 for three months on all countries and territories amid the spread of the virus. Since June, the advisory has continuously been extended by a month.

The ministry also said the decision was aimed at preventing South Koreans from getting infected while stressing that refraining from overseas travel is crucial to quarantine efforts at home.

سول: مددت حكومة كوريا الجنوبية، منع سفر مواطنيها إلى الخارج شهرا ينتهي في 17 نوفمبر المقبل، بسبب ارتفاع أعداد الإصابات بفيروس كورونا /كوفيد – 19/ في العالم.

وقالت وزارة الخارجية الكورية، في بيان اليوم، إنها مددت تحذيرات السفر الخاصة إلى جميع دول العالم التي كان من المقرر أن تستمر حتى يوم 18 أكتوبر الجاري، إلى يوم 17 نوفمبر المقبل، موضحة أن هذا القرار يستند إلى حقيقة أن الانتشار العالمي للفيروس “ما زال مستمرا، وأن العديد من الدول ما زالت تفرض قيودا على دخول الأجانب”.

وحث البيان الكوريين الجنوبيين على إلغاء أو تأجيل رحلاتهم الخارجية، داعيا المقيمين منهم في الخارج إلى توخي مزيد من الحذر من أجل سلامتهم.

وكانت الحكومة الكورية قد أصدرت في 23 مارس الماضي تحذيرات خاصة بالسفر للخارج لأول مرة، واستمرت في تمديد هذا الاجراء شهريا بانتظار تحسن الأوضاع الصحية في العالم، وإيجاد لقاحات لفيروس /كوفيد – 19/.
