Doha: A number of fishermen confirmed that preserving the marine environment is one of the most important factors to ensure that future generations can enjoy fish resources and find safe and healthy places for recreation and picnics, noting that the marine environment faces a number of major problems, foremost of which is the disposal of plastic waste at sea and the need for the concerned authority to prevent fishing for some types of fish such as al-Safi and Shari fish during the breeding season, as is the case with Kand fish, another problem is the phenomenon of the placing fishing nets on the seabed, which leads to the destruction of coral reefs and aquatic organisms and finally pollution caused by factories in the water.
They pointed out the need to intensify awareness campaigns that require beachgoers to maintain them and avoid random disposal of garbage so the waves don’t sweep it into the depths of the sea, considering that tighter controls on beaches will reduce this phenomenon,
They also called for hanging a few banners to urge people to dispose of waste in its designated places, specifying the amount of the fine to ne paid, to warn violaters of the consequences of littering.
They demanded the need for a cooperation between the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change and the Coast Guard Department, which aims to give the latter the right to judicial control or report environmental violations, given their presence permanently within the depths of the gulf due to their work.
They pointed out that some violations can be avoided if the Coast Guard monitors the violators or reports them directly to the Department of Natural Reserves so that they can do their duty to prevent any encroachment that could pose a real threat to the marine environment.

الدوحة: أكّد عددٌ من الصّيادين أنَّ الحفاظ على البيئة البحرية من أهمّ العوامل التي تضمن تمتّع الأجيال القادمة بالثروة السمكية وإيجاد أماكن آمنة وصحية للترفيه والتنزه، مُشيرين إلى أنَّ البيئة البحرية تواجه عددًا من المشاكل الرئيسية وفي مُقدمتها التخلّص من المُخلفات البلاستيكيّة في عرض البحر وضرورة قيام الجهة المعنيّة بمنع الصيد لبعض أنواع الأسماك مثل الصافي والشعري في موسم التكاثر أسوة بأسماك الكنعد، فضلًا عن ظاهرة نصب الشباك في قاع البحر التي تؤدّي إلى تدمير الشعاب المرجانية والأحياء المائية وأخيرًا التلوّث الذي تُحدثه المصانع في المياه.
وأشاروا إلى ضرورة تكثيف الحملات التوعويّة التي تطالب مُرتادي الشواطئ بالحفاظ عليها وتجنّب التخلص من القُمامة بشكل عشوائي للحدّ من قيام الأمواج بجرفها إلى داخل أعماق البحر، مُعتبرين أنَّ تشديد الرقابة على الشواطئ يحدّ من تلك الظاهرة، فضلًا عن تعليق لوحات تدعوهم للتخلص من المُخلفات في الأماكن المُخصصة مع تحديد قيمة المُخالفة لتحذيرهم من مغبة التخلص من المُخلفات.
وطالبوا بضرورة وجود تعاون بين وزارة البيئة والتغيُّر المناخي وإدارة خفر السواحل، يهدف إلى منح الأخيرة حق الضبطية القضائيّة أو التبليغ عن المخالفات البيئية، نظرًا لتواجدهم بشكل دائم داخل أعماق الخليج بحكم عملهم، مُشيرين إلى أن بعض المخالفات يمكن أن يتم تفاديها في حال قامت إدارة خفر السواحل برصد المُخالفين أو الإبلاغ عنهم بشكل مباشر إلى إدارة المحميات الطبيعية ليقوموا بواجبهم نحو منع أي تعدٍ يمكن أن يُشكلَ تهديدًا حقيقيًا بالبيئة البحريّة.
