90,000 young groupers released into the sea

Doha: The Department of Fisheries, in cooperation with the Environmental Protection Reserves and Wildlife Department, released 90,000 young groupers, weighing 2 grams, in a number of nursery sites in the Qatari marine waters, produced by the Aquarium Research Center.

This comes as a continuation of the program to enrich fish stocks, which includes the production of small local fish of economic value farmed locally, and their release into Qatari waters to increase production and contribute to achieving food security requirements.

الدوحة: أطلقت إدارة الثروة السمكية وبالتعاون مع إدارة الحماية والحياة الفطرية 90 ألفًا من صغار أسماك الهامور بوزن 2 جرام في عدد من مواقع الحضانة في المياه البحرية القطرية، وهي من إنتاج مركز أبحاث الأحياء المائية. يأتي ذلك استمرارًا لبرنامج إثراء المخزون السمكي الذي يتضمن إنتاج صغار الأسماك المحليّة ذات القيمة الاقتصادية المُستزرعة محليًا، وإطلاقها في المياه القطرية لزيادة الإنتاج والمُساهمة في تحقيق متطلبات الأمن الغذائي.
