UDC completes Gewan Island’s marine works

Doha: United Development Company (UDC), a leading Qatari public shareholding company and the master developer of The Pearl-Qatar and Gewan Island, announced yesterday the completion of marine works at Gewan Island with overall construction works reaching the halfway mark.

Commenting on these milestones, Ibrahim Jassim Al Othman, UDC President and Chief Executive Officer and Member of The Board, said: “Passing the halfway point in development is a great success, and we are excited to see this unique lifestyle gem starting to take shape as we enter the final stages of development.

UDC had launched marine works in July 2019. These works, which have been recently finalised, involved reclamation fill of more than 900,000 cbm to form the main island and three internal bridges, in addition to the provision and installation of more than 200,000 cbm of armour rocks and supply and installation of 280,000 cbm of beach sand material.

UDC has also achieved major milestones in Gewan Island’s building and landscape package. Building works started in May 2020, are more than halfway to completion which is scheduled for September 2022. The scope of work includes 15 mixed-use buildings, a climate-controlled Crystal Walkway in addition to the Island’s clubhouse, mosque and landscape of public spaces.

To date, UDC has succeeded in completing raft foundation covering more than 74,000cbm as well as all major concrete works for all 15 buildings and common basement covering 71,000sqm and comprising 1,456 parking bays. Ongoing activities include blockworks which will reach more than 22,000sqm when completed, in addition to internal plastering and staircase installation activities which were commenced in all 15 buildings.  Other packages are also progressing as planned, with infrastructure works still ongoing and construction works on Gewan Island’s mosque recently started, while development of Gewan Bridge continues with the bridge deck scheduled to be completed by end of 2021.

Gewan Island, UDC’s latest real-estate project, spans an area of 400,000 sqm and offers a total of 657 residential units, including 586 apartments, 21 beachfront villas with private beach, 26 waterfront villas that are equipped with private pontoons for private boats, and 6 independent island mansions, in addition to 11,000 sqm of retail spaces and 15 multi-use buildings.It will also feature a golf course with the five-star ‘Corinthia Gewan Island Qatar’ hotel and connected beach club, an air conditioned outdoor ‘Crystal Walkway’ and seaside ‘Promenade’, parks and green areas in addition to various entertainment facilities, a clubhouse and a mosque.

أعلنت الشركة المتحدة للتنمية، إحدى كبرى الشركات المساهمة العامة الرائدة في دولة قطر والمطوّر الرئيسي لجزيرتيّ اللؤلؤة-قطر وجيوان، عن الانتهاء من الأعمال البحرية في جزيرة جيوان مع إنجاز 50% من أعمال تطوير الجزيرة، وتعليقاً على هذه الإنجازات، صرّح السيّد إبراهيم جاسم العثمان، الرئيس التنفيذي وعضو مجلس إدارة الشركة المتحدة للتنمية بالقول: “إن اجتياز منتصف مراحل التطوير يُعدّ نجاحاً كبيراً، حيث بدأت معالم جوهرة العيش الفاخر بالظهور مع دخولنا المراحل النهائية من تطوير جزيرة جيوان. وعلى الرغم من التحديات التي نواجهها على أثر الجائحة، إلا أنّنا نسعى للحفاظ على أعلى معايير الجودة والسلامة. وفي هذا الصدد، أودّ أن أثني على جميع المقاولين لالتزامهم بتدابير السلامة، بالتوازي مع جهودهم، لإحراز تقدماً ملحوظاً كما أنّنا نتطلّع إلى تحقيق المزيد من الإنجازات خلال الأشهر المقبلة”.

هذا وأطلقت الشركة المتحدة للتنمية الأعمال البحرية في يوليو 2019. وتضمّنت الأعمال البحرية، التي تمّ الانتهاء منها مؤخّراً، استصلاح أكثر من 900,000 متر مكعّب لتشكيل الجزيرة الرئيسية وثلاثة جسور داخلية، بالإضافة إلى توفير وتركيب أكثر من 200,000 متر مكعّب من الصخور المدرّعة وتوريد وتركيب 280,000 متر مكعّب من المواد الرملية والشاطئية.

كما حقّقت الشركة المتحدة للتنمية إنجازات هامة في عقد إنشاء المباني والمساحات الخضراء. وقد بدأت أعمال البناء في مايو 2020، وهي اجتازت حاجز النصف حيث من المقرّر الانتهاء منها في سبتمبر 2022. وتشمل العمليات الإنشائية 15 مبنى متعدّد الاستخدامات وممشى الكريستال الخارجي المكيّف، بالإضافة إلى نادي السكّان والمسجد وتنسيق الحدائق في جميع الأماكن العامة في الجزيرة.

في هذا الإطار، نجحت الشركة المتحدة للتنمية بإتمام الأساسات بحجم أكثر من 74,000 متر مكعّب، بالإضافة إلى جميع الأعمال الخرسانية الرئيسية لجميع المباني الخمسة عشر والطابق السفلي المشترك الذي يغطي 71,000 متر مربّع ويضمّ 1,456 موقفاً للسيارات. كما تشمل الأنشطة الجارية أعمال الطوب التي ستصل إلى أكثر من 22,000 متر مربّع عند اكتمالها، بالإضافة إلى أعمال البلاستر الداخلي وتركيب السلالم التي بدأت في جميع المباني الـ 15.

كما تسير أعمال التطوير الأخرى في جزيرة جيوان بثبات كما هو مخطّط لها، حيث لا تزال أعمال البنية التحتية جارية بالتزامن مع انطلاق أعمال البناء في مسجد الجزيرة مؤخّراً، بينما تستمر أعمال تطوير جسر جيوان، حيث من المقرّر الانتهاء من تركيب سطح الجسر بحلول نهاية عام 2021.
