Al Thawadi Assures of Qatar’s Ability to Organize Safe World Cup

Doha: HE Secretary-General of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy Hassan Al Thawadi said that FIFA World Cup 2022 Qatar will be the first global event that gathers everyone after the coronavirus pandemic, especially after the State of Qatar succeeded in organizing major sporting events during which a firm health protocol was followed to ensure protection from the virus.

Addressing a panel discussion entitled “World Cup 2022 and Beyond” in the framework of Qatar Economic Forum, Powered by Bloomberg, HE Al Thawadi assured everyone of the ability of Qatar to organize the World Cup 2022 in a safe manner in light of the coronavirus pandemic, adding that everyone might soon celebrate the recovery from this pandemic as there are signs that the life has started to return to normal, and that the vaccine may provide the masses with a unique opportunity to celebrate the event in Qatar.

Despite the pandemic, HE Al Thawadi said, the 2022 World Cup will be the first in the Middle East, and it is distinguished by the close proximity of its venues so that the fans can attended two matches in the same day. Qatar 2022 will be the first real global event following the COVID-19 pandemic and it will exceptional.

HE Al Thawadi noted that vaccination is the only way to recovering from this pandemic. The UEFA European Championship and the Copa America are currently in full swing, and they follow a strict health protocol. During the past year, Qatar organized many events such as the FIFA Club World Cup and others, following a strict health system that included follow-up and examinations. Qatar was at the forefront of countries adopting a protocol to deal with the pandemic in order to make progress in a safe way for all.

HE Al Thawadi reiterated that the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 will be safe, and expressed pride that this major event will be celebrated in the State of Qatar. He noted that there are a number of people who are currently in Europe to learn about the health protocols applied in the UEFA European Championship, as well as in North America for the Gold Cup competitions, in order to learn about the best ways to preserve the safety of everyone.

On the other hand, HE Secretary-General of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy Hassan Al Thawadi underlined, “We have repeatedly emphasized that the 2022 World Cup will be Arab, Gulf, Middle Eastern, and our doors will remain open to all. The World Cup in Qatar will also be an opportunity to build bridges and enhance diplomacy between peoples. We are a hospitable people and welcome everyone.”

HE Al Thawadi noted that the World Cup 2022 will be an opportunity for the peoples of the world to learn more about the State of Qatar, its people and its culture, especially that the tournament will perhaps be their first-time visit to the Middle East.

He underlined that many people who visited Qatar take into consideration its culture and customs. The best evidence of this is the Club World Cup 2019, where fans from Britain, Mexico and others were contacted to make them feel comfortable, and they are now impatiently waiting for the World Cup to start again in Qatar, because of the warm reception and the distinguished experience they found.

HE Al Thawadi said that the 2022 World Cup will be an important opportunity to dispel inaccurate fears about Qatar and the entire region. “We have been subjected to many criticisms from trade unions regarding the situation of some workers in Qatar. We have made many reforms and we continue to work through the accumulation of experience. The commitment we have made in the past years determines our progress well today,” he stressed.

HE Al Thawadi added that no country in the world has an ideal system for dealing with workers, but Qatar is making remarkable progress in this field. “We are spearheading the measures and reforms that we are undertaking, as we have global standards. We rank second after “Apple” is committed to ensuring the re-payment of recruitment fees for workers who come from their countries, and this is linked to our commitment to our values, which state that everyone living in Qatar should be treated with dignity and the commitment continues even after the World Cup.”

In conclusion, HE Secretary-General of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy Hassan Al Thawadi said that the World Cup is a major event and will undoubtedly affect the economy and various sectors. “Today, we expect an economic contribution of 20 billion dollars, this is the assumption, and we will do another study and another evaluation… We are talking here about the sectors of construction, tourism, hospitality and knowledge transfer in hosting major events, and this will affect the management and organization of events and hospitality, and the matter here is related to how to exploit this. We have previously said that the 2022 World Cup will transform our directions, and this is not imposed on development plans, but it will constitute the engine of advancing many of the initiatives that the government has committed to.”

الدوحة: أكد سعادة السيد حسن الذوادي الأمين العام للجنة العليا للمشاريع والإرث، أن بطولة كأس العالم لكرة القدم 2022 في قطر ستكون أول حدث عالمي يجتمع حوله الجميع بعد جائحة فيروس كورونا / كوفيد-19/، خاصة وأننا نجحنا في تنظيم كبرى الفعاليات الرياضية واتبعنا خلالها برتوكولا صحيا حازما للحماية من هذا الفيروس.

جاء ذلك خلال استضافة سعادته خلال جلسة حوارية تحت عنوان / كأس العالم 2022 وما بعدها / ضمن منتدى قطر الاقتصادي بالتعاون مع بلومبيرغ، حيث قال الذوادي، أطمئن الجميع بقدرتنا على تنظيم بطولة كأس العالم لكرة القدم 2022 بصورة آمنة في ظل جائحة كورونا، إضافة إلى أنه يمكن للجميع أن يحتفل بالتعافي من هذه الجائحة، حيث هناك دلائل تدل على بداية عودة المياه الى مجاريها لأن اللقاح قد يوفر للجماهير فرصة مميزة للاحتفال هنا في قطر.

وأضاف الأمين العام للجنة العليا للمشاريع والارث، بقوله :” بخلاف الجائحة هذا الكأس هو الأول من نوعه في الشرق الأوسط هو مضغوط، حيث يمكن للمرء أن يشاهد مباراتين في نفس اليوم والاماكن قريبة من بعضها البعض، ففي مونديال روسيا مثلا كان الامر مختلفا في ظل المسافات المتباعدة بين المدن، لكن مع / كوفيد 19 / ربما سيكون أول حدث عالمي حقيقي يمكن للجميع خلاله أن يعيشوا أجواء مثالية ومميزة”.

واشار سعادته إلى أن اللقاحات هي الحل الوحيد للتعافي من هذه الجائحة …تجرى حاليا بطول كأس أمم أوروبا على قدم وساق وأيضا بطولة كوبا أمريكا، وكلهم يعتمدون على برتوكول صحي حازم.. لقد نظمنا خلال السنة الماضية العديد من الفعاليات على غرار كأس العالم للأندية وغيرها واتبعنا نظاما صحيا صارما تضمن متابعة وفحوصات، وكنا في طليعة الدول التي تعتمد برتوكولا خاصا بهذا الكوفيد لكي نحرز التقدم ونستمر فيه بطريقة آمنة للجميع،وصحة الانسان من اولوياتنا.

وشدد سعادة الذوادي على أن بطولة كأس العالم لكرة القدم 2022 ستكون آمنة وسالمة ونحن فخورون بأن هذه الفعالية الكبرى سيأتي إليها الناس ويحتفلون بها في قطر … لدينا حاليا العديد من الأشخاص المتواجدين في أوروبا من أجل الاستفادة من البروتكولات الصحية التي يتم تطبيقها حاليا في امم اوروبا، وأيضا في شمال أمريكا في بطولة الكأس الذهبية وكل هذا من أجل التعلم حفاظا على سلامة الاشخاص، ونتطلع الى اولمبياد طوكيو أيضا لنتعلم منها.

وقال سعادة السيد حسن الذوادي الأمين العام للجنة العليا للمشاريع والإرث، لقد أكدنا مرارا وتكرارا أن مونديال 2022 سيكون عربيا ،خليجيا ،شرق أوسطيا، وستبقى أبوابنا مفتوحة للجميع…كما سيكون مونديال قطر فرصة لمد الجسور وسيعزز الدبلوماسية بين الشعوب، فنحن شعب مضياف ونرحب بالجميع.

وبين الذوادي أن كأس العالم سيكون فرصة أمام شعوب العالم للتعرف أكثر على دولة قطر وشعبها وثقافتها…خاصة وأن البطولة ستشهد ربما زيارة أشخاص لأول مرة لمنطقة الشرق الاوسط ومع قدومهم ستتغير نظرتهم من خلال عيش تجربة بطولة كأس العالم في قطر والتعرف عليها.

كما اكد أن العديد من الناس الذين زاروا قطر يأخذون بعين الاعتبار ثقافتنا وأعرافنا… وخير دليل على ذلك كأس العالم للأندية 2019 حيث تم التواصل مع مشجعين من بريطانيا والمكسيك وغيرهم لنشعرهم بالارتياح، وهم الآن ينتظرون بفارغ الصبر انطلاق المونديال من أجل العودة من جديد الى قطر، نظرا لما وجدوه من حفاوة الاستقبال بعد اختبار تجربة مميزة.

واضاف سعادته قائلا..نحن نتطلع لاحتضان العالم وكل شخص يريد العودة مرة أخرى ويتحمس لمونديال 2022 سيشعر بالتأكيد بالارتياح، سنوفر جميع الضمانات لكل من يريد التواجد بقطر من اجل الاستمتاع بأجواء مونديالية.

وبين سعادته، ان قطر ترحب بالجميع فيها دون استثناء ورسالتي للعالم هي أن يعرفوا أن قطر بلد الضيافة، كما سيكون مونديال 2022 فرصة مهمة لتبديد المخاوف غير الدقيقة ازاء قطر والمنطقة برمتها..لقد تعرضنا للعديد من الانتقادات من النقابات العمالية بخصوص وضع بعض العمال في قطر.. لقد قمنا بإصلاحات كثيرة ومازلنا نواصل العمل من خلال تراكم الخبرات، الالتزام الذي أحرزناه في السنوات الماضية يحدد اليوم تقدمنا بشكل جيد.

كما أوضح الذوادي ،قائلا.. إنه لا يوجد دولة في العالم تمتلك نظاما مثاليا للتعامل مع العمال، لكن قطر تحرز تقدما مميزا في هذا الملف… ونشكل رأس حربة في الاجراءات والاصلاحات التي نجريها، حيث لدينا معايير عالمية، حيث نحتل المرتبة الثانية بعد ” ابل” في ضمان اعادة دفع رسوم استقدام العمال الذين يأتون من بلدانهم، وهذا الامر مرتبط بالتزامنا بقيمنا، التي تنص على أن كل شخص يعيش في قطر يجب ان يعامل بكرامة والالتزام مستمر حتى بعد كأس العالم.

واختتم سعادته تصريحاته خلال هذه الجلسة الحوارية بقوله ،”نعم هذه فعالية كبرى والمونديال سيؤثر على الاقتصاد وقطاعات مختلفة بلا شك، واليوم نحن نتوقع المساهمة الاقتصادية بواقع 20 مليار دولار، هذا هو الافتراض، وسنقوم بدارسة اخرى وتقييم اخر… نتحدث هنا عن قطاع التشييد والسياحة و الضيافة ونقل المعرفة في استضافة كبريات الفعاليات وذلك سيؤثر على ادارة الفعاليات والضيافة وتنظيمها، وهنا الامر مرتبط بكيفية استغلال ذلك ،لقد قلنا سابقا ان مونديال 2022 سيحول توجهاتنا، وهذا غير مفروض على خطط التنمية لكنه سيشكل محرك الدفع قدما للكثير من المبادرات التي التزمت بها الحكومة.
