Prime Minister: vaccinating 72% of population, the idea of a complete closure was rejected

Doha: His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdul Aziz Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, said the government has succeeded in dealing with the crisis from its inception by reorganizing the Supreme Committee for Crisis Management, which in turn imposed strict precautionary measures, taking care that these measures do not negatively affect the progress of major and vital projects in the state or cast a shadow on the economic and social aspect of community members.

He added, – in a comprehensive dialogue with local newspapers- “The government’s efforts succeeded in containing the pandemic, and we have overcome the effects of the last wave of mutation variants (British and South African) in March.” He said, “From the first moment, the idea of a complete closure was rejected by the government, due to the lack of a clear study even in the countries that implemented it, and we adopted the implementation of deliberate measures for each of the activities and areas to limit the spread of the virus.”

For practical examples, we closed part of the industrial zone after the first case was discovered and it was the first epicentre of the pandemic, which we succeeded in containing, preventing it from becoming a source of spread of the epidemic, and we benefited from that experience in responding quickly and besieging the sources of increased infection rates.

His Excellency said that according to the plans of the National COVID-19 Vaccination Program, approximately 72 percent of the total eligible persons will have received at least one dose of the vaccine this week, explaining that the health sector and health cadres played a major role in preventing the spread of the pandemic, and the commitment and confidence of community members in the precautionary and preventive measures taken by the concerned authorities also had a significant contribution in reducing the cases.

“Many countries have resorted to selecting the available drug of any kind, but Qatar moved early and contracted large companies with a global position in the pharmaceutical industry and conducting the necessary laboratory trials approved by the World Health Organization, where Qatar chose the best vaccines that have proven effective and approved them, namely Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna, knowing that early investment in these companies allowed Qatar to have priority in obtaining vaccine doses, which is what happened.”

الدوحة: قال معالي الشيخ خالد بن خليفة بن عبد العزيز آل ثاني رئيس مجلس الوزراء وزير الداخلية، إن الحكومة نجحت في التعامل مع الأزمة منذ بدايتها من خلال إعادة تنظيم اللجنة العليا لادارة الازمات والتي فرضت بدورها إجراءات احترازية مشددة، مع الحرص على أن لا تؤثر تلك الإجراءات سلبًا على سير المشاريع الكبرى والحيوية في الدولة أو تلقي بظلالها على الجانب الاقتصادي والاجتماعي لأفراد المجتمع.

وأضاف معاليه – في حوار شامل للصحافة المحلية – أن جهود الحكومة نجحت في تطويق الوباء لكننا لم ننتصر عليه كلياً بعد، وتغلبنا على آثار الموجة الأخيرة من السلالات المتحورة (البريطاني والجنوب افريقي) في شهر مارس الماضي.

وقال معالي رئيس الوزراء: منذ اللحظة الأولى كانت فكرة الإغلاق التام مرفوضة من الحكومة وذلك بسبب عدم وجود دراسة واضحة حتى في الدول التي طبقتها، واعتمدنا تطبيق إجراءات مدروسة لكل من الأنشطة والمجالات للحد من انتشار الفيروس، ومن الامثلة العملية قمنا بإغلاق جزء من المنطقة الصناعية بعد اكتشاف أول حالة،وكانت أول بؤرة للجائحة، والتي نجحنا في تطويقها، ومنع تحولها إلى مصدر لانتشار الوباء، واستفدنا من تلك التجربة في الاستجابة السريعة ومحاصرة مصادر زيادة معدلات الإصابة.

وأوضح معاليه أنه حسب خطط البرنامج الوطني للتطعيم ضد فيروس (كوفيد-١٩)، فان ما يقارب 72% من اجمالي المستحقين سيكونون قد حصلوا على جرعة واحدة على الأقل من اللقاح هذا الأسبوع.

وأشار معاليه إلى أن القطاع الصحي والكوادر الصحية لعب دورا كبيرا في منع انتشار الوباء.. وكذلك كان لالتزام أفراد المجتمع وثقتهم في الإجراءات الاحترازية والتدابير الوقائية التي اتخذتها الجهات المعنية مساهمة كبيرة في تراجع الإصابات.

ولفت معالي رئيس الوزراء إلى أن “هناك دول كثيرة لجأت لاختيار العقار المتوافر أيا كان نوعه، لكن دولة قطر تحركت مبكرًا وتعاقدت مع شركات كبيرة لها مكانتها العالمية في مجال صناعة الأدوية وإجراء التجارب المختبرية اللازمة عليها والمعتمدة من منظمة الصحة العالمية، حيث اختارت قطر أفضل اللقاحات التي ثبتت فعالية التجارب عليها وتمت اجازتها وهي “فايزر- بيونتيك” و”مودرنا”، علما بأن الاستثمار المبكر في تلك الشركات سمحت لدولة قطر أن تكون لها الأولوية في الحصول على جرعات اللقاحات وهو ما حدث”.
