HH Sheikha Moza, HM Queen Maxima Celebrate 10K Scholarship Milestone

Doha: HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Education Above All and UN Sustainable Development Goals Advocate, participated in a joint, virtual event alongside HM Queen Maxima of the Netherlands, UN Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development, to celebrate the milestone achievement of granting 10,000 scholarships to displaced youth, through a partnership between Education Above All’s Al Fakhoora programme and Dutch NGO, SPARK.
During the event, which took place on the UN World Refugee Day, Her Highness congratulated scholarship recipients for their inspiring and “unwavering ambition” towards continuing their education. She also called on universities, learning centers and tech companies to join in the collective responsibility of ensuring graduates of these program are equipped to find meaningful employment and connect with the virtual and traditional job market, to empower them to contribute to their communities.
Her Highness continued: “I do not want for this conversation to end, but rather it must be a renewed beginning. These 10,000 scholarships provided us with an exemplary path to follow, to grant new hopes, new opportunities, and new lives to tens of thousands of other displaced youth.”
After her speech, Her Highness met with three scholarship recipients, Noor Jomaa, Jouman Najjar, and Rami Farhan, through a Zoom video call, where they shared with Her Highness their experiences with the program and future aspirations.
HM Queen Maxima emphasized during her participation the importance of education and entrepreneurship saying, “Education and entrepreneurship are essential for rebuilding every region affected by conflict and by establishing the possibility for growth in every country. Each scholarship awarded to young a refugee not only helps that particular person, but eventually a whole community of people and, ultimately, all of us. It is an investment in the future with a fantastic yield.”
Today’s virtual event also featured high-level video contributions from HE Khalifa Al Kuwari, Director General of the Qatar Fund for Development, Kitty van der Heijden, Director General International Cooperation, Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Claudia Miller, Trust Fund Manager, EU Regional Trust Fund in Response to the Syrian Crisis, European Commission, among others.
EAA’s Al Fakhoora programme, through Qatar Scholarship, partnered with the Dutch NGO SPARK in 2016 to provide over 7,000 higher education and empowerment scholarships to underserved Palestinian youth in the West Bank and Syrian youth, refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq and Turkey.

الدوحة: شاركت صاحبة السمو الشيخة موزا بنت ناصر، رئيس مجلس إدارة مؤسسة التعليم فوق الجميع وعضو مجموعة المدافعين عن أهداف التنمية المستدامة للأمم المتحدة، وجلالة الملكة ماكسيما ملكة هولندا، المستشار الخاص للأمين العام لشؤون التمويل الشامل من أجل التنمية، في حفل افتراضي أقيم بمناسبة بلوغ /عشر آلاف منحة دراسية/ قدمت للاجئين والنازحين لاستكمال تعليمهم العالي، وذلك من خلال شراكة بين برنامج الفاخورة ومنظمة /سبارك/ الهولندية.
وألقت صاحبة السمو كلمة بهذه المناسبة هنئت فيها الحاصلين على المنح الدراسية قائلة: “أهنئكم لأنكم وفقتم في تحقيق أحلامكم بالرغم من قسوة الظروف والمصاعب التي كانت آثار الجائحة آخرها. أحيي طموحكم الذي لا يهزم وقد بات مصدر إلهام لنا جميعا”.
كما دعت سموها الجامعات ومراكز التعلم إلى تقديم برامج مماثلة تضمن التعليم و التطوير المهني للخريجين للحصول على الأفضلية في سوق العمل التقليدي والافتراضي لتمكينهم منم المساهمة الفاعلة في مجتمعاتهم.
واختتمت سموها حديثها قائلة: “سنواصل نهجنا في ربط التعليم بسوق العمل من خلال مؤسسة التعليم فوق الجميع ومؤسسة صلتك التي تعنى بالتمكين الاقتصادي. لا أريد لهذا الحديث ختاما، بل هو بدء متجدد انطلق من عشرة آلاف منحة دراسية شكلت نموذجا يحتذى نواصل السير على نهجه، لنمنح أملا وفرصا وحياة جديدة لعشرات الآلاف من الشباب النازحين”.
وتحدثت صاحبة السمو بعد ذلك مع عدد من المستفيدين من البرنامج وهم: نور جمعة وجومان نجار ورامي فرحان، حيث ناقشوا مع سموها عن تجاربهم مع البرنامج وتطلعاتهم المستقبلية.
كما هنأت جلالة الملكة ماكسيما الطلاب الحاصلين على المنح قائلة: “إن التعليم وريادة الأعمال من الركائز الأساسية لإعادة بناء المجتمعات المتأثرة بالحروب والنزاعات وذلك عبر بناء أساس ثابت لنمو البلد، إن كل منحة دراسية مقدمة لكل لاجئ لا تساعد شخص واحد فقط بل تساعد مجتمع بأكلمه وتساعدنا نحن أيضا. فهنيئا لكم لحصولكم على هذه المنحة”.
كما تضمن الحدث مداخلات من سعادة السيد خليفة بن جاسم الكواري مدير عام صندوق قطر للتنمية، والسيدة كيتي فان دير هايدن المدير العام للتعاون الدولي بوزارة الخارجية الهولندية والسيدة كلوديا ميلر، مدير الصندوق الاستئماني الإقليمي للاتحاد الأوروبي للاستجابة للأزمة السورية ، المفوضية الأوروبية.
ويأتي هذا الاحتفال ثمرة تعاون مشترك بدأ عام 2016 بين برنامج الفاخورة التابع لمؤسسة التعليم فوق الجميع ومنظمة /سبارك/ الهولندية لتقديم أكثر من سبعة آلاف منحة دراسية للتعليم العالي والتمكين للشباب الفلسطينيين في الضفة الغربية والشباب السوريين اللاجئين والنازحين داخليا في سوريا ولبنان والأردن والعراق وتركيا.
وستواصل /مؤسسة التعليم فوق الجميع/ وسبارك تعاونهما لدعم الالتحاق بالتعليم العالي كحق أساسي للشباب اللاجئين لتمكينهم اقتصاديا ليساهموا بالنفع على مجتمعاتهم.
