Qatar Airways Begins Direct Flights to Abidjan

Doha: Qatar Airways announced that Abidjan has joined its global network as its debut flight to the largest city in Cote dIvoire landed at Felix Houphouet Boigny International Airport earlier today.

Qatar Airways added in a statement that with three weekly flights, the service between Doha and Abidjan via Accra will be operated by the airlines state-of-the-art Boeing 787 Dreamliner featuring 22 seats in Business Class and 232 seats in Economy Class, along with capacity of up to 15 tons of cargo.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive HE Akbar Al Baker, said: “Launching flights to Abidjan, Cote dIvoire – our fourth new destination in Africa since the start of the pandemic, after having recently launched Abuja in Nigeria; Accra in Ghana; and Luanda in Angola is a significant step in our African growth. This is testament to our commitment to the African continent where we now operate over 100 weekly flights to 25 destinations in 18 countries via our home and hub, Hamad International Airport.”

“At Qatar Airways, being there for our passengers, trade partners and corporate customers has been our major focus since the start of the pandemic. We thank the government of Cte dIvoire for their support to launch these flights, and we look forward to working closely with our partners here to grow this route and support the recovery of tourism and trade in this region. The launch of Abidjan also supports increased demand for trade between Cote dIvoire and destinations on the Qatar Airways network such as Paris, Beirut and many points in the Indian subcontinent. With up to 15 tons of cargo capacity on the aircraft per flight, Qatar Airways Cargo will play a key role in facilitating key exports from Cote dIvoire.

Qatar Airways travelers from Cote dIvoire can now enjoy new baggage allowances ranging from 46 Kg for Economy Class split over two pieces and 64 Kg split over two pieces in Business Class. الدوحة: أعلنت الخطوط الجوية القطرية عن انضمام مدينة /أبيدجان/ إلى شبكة وجهاتها العالمية بعد وصول رحلتها الافتتاحية إلى مطار /فيليكس هوفويت بوانيي/ في كوت دي فوار اليوم.

وقالت الناقلة الوطنية لدولة قطر، إنها ستسير ثلاث رحلات أسبوعياً إلى أبيدجان عبر مدينة أكرا في غانا على طائرة من طراز بوينغ 787 دريملاينر، التي تضم 22 مقعداً على درجة رجال الأعمال و232 مقعداً على الدرجة السياحية، مع إمكانية نقل ما يصل إلى 15 طناً من البضائع ضمن المساحة المخصصة للشحن الجوي على طائرات الركاب.

وقال سعادة السيد أكبر الباكر، الرئيس التنفيذي لمجموعة الخطوط الجوية القطرية “لقد أصبحت أبيدجان في كوت دي فوار رابع وجهاتنا الجديدة في إفريقيا منذ بدء جائحة /كوفيد-19/ بعد إطلاق رحلاتنا في وقت سابق إلى مدن أبوجا في نيجيريا، وأكرا في غانا ولواندا في أنغولا. ويعتبر تدشين رحلاتنا إلى أبيدجان خطوة مهمة ضمن جهودنا الرامية إلى تحقيق المزيد من النمو لعملياتنا في إفريقيا. كما يعدّ هذا الأمر دليلاً على الالتزام الذي نوليه تجاه القارة الإفريقية التي نسيّر إليها 100 رحلة أسبوعياً إلى 25 وجهة في 18 دولة فيها عبر مقر عملياتنا مطار حمد الدولي”.

وأضاف الباكر “لم ندخر جهداً في الخطوط الجوية القطرية لتقديم أفضل الخدمات لمسافرينا وشركائنا في جميع الأوقات. كما أود أن أتقدم بجزيل الشكر لحكومة كوت دي فوار على ما قدموه لنا من دعم لإطلاق هذه الرحلات، ونتطلع الآن إلى العمل عن كثب مع مختلف الأطراف هنا لدعم هذه الرحلات والمساهمة في تعزيز قطاع السياحة والتجارة في هذه المنطقة. ومع تعافي السفر الدولي في 2021، نتطلع قدماً إلى زيادة خيارات السفر التي نتيحها للمسافرين من وإلى إفريقيا”.

وأكد سعادته أن تدشين الرحلات إلى أبيدجان سيساهم في دعم الطلب المتزايد على التجارة بين كوت دي فوار ومختلف الوجهات على شبكة وجهات الخطوط الجوية القطرية مثل باريس وبيروت والعديد من المناطق في شبه القارة الهندية، كما أنه مع إتاحة سعة شحن جوي تصل إلى 15 طنا على كل رحلة، ستلعب القطرية للشحن الجوي دوراً حيوياً في تسهيل عملية تصدير البضائع الأساسية من كوت دي فوار.

يذكر أنه بالرغم من مواجهة قطاع الطيران لتحديات غير مسبوقة نتيجة لجائحة كوفيد-19، لم تتوقف عمليات الخطوط الجوية القطرية على الإطلاق، حيث عملت جاهدة على نقل المسافرين إلى أوطانهم بأمان طوال هذه الأزمة. كما دشّنت الناقلة القطرية رحلاتها إلى سبع وجهات جديدة خلال العام الماضي هي سان فرانسيسكو وسياتل في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية، وأبوجا وأكرا ولواندا في إفريقيا، وبريزبن وسيبو في منطقة آسيا والمحيط الهادئ.

وأصبحت الخطوط الجوية القطرية أول شركة طيران دولية تحصل على تصنيف 5 نجوم في “تدقيق تدابير السلامة الخاصة بكوفيد-19 على مستوى شركات الطيران” من سكاي تراكس، وذلك في أعقاب النجاح الذي حققه مطار حمد الدولي الذي أصبح المطار الأول والوحيد في الشرق الأوسط الذي يحصل على تصنيف 5 نجوم في “تدقيق تدابير السلامة الخاصة بكوفيد-19 على مستوى المطارات”.

يشار أيضا إلى أن الخطوط الجوية القطرية حازت على جائزة أفضل “شركة طيران في العالم” خلال حفل توزيع جوائز سكاي تراكس العالمية 2019. كما حصدت الناقلة الوطنية لدولة قطر جائزة “أفضل شركة طيران في الشرق الأوسط” وجائزة “أفضل درجة رجال أعمال” في العالم وجائزة “أفضل مقعد على درجة رجال الأعمال” عن مقاعد كيو سويت.

وأصبحت الناقلة القطرية شركة الطيران الوحيدة التي تفوز بجائزة أفضل شركة طيران في العالم خمس مرات.

كما حاز مطار حمد الدولي على جائزة “أفضل مطار في الشرق الأوسط” للعام السادس على التوالي، وجائزة “ثالث أفضل مطار في العالم” وذلك بحسب نتائج جوائز سكاي تراكس العالمية للمطارات 2020.
