Qatar invests $5 billion in Bangladesh

Doha: The website “moderndiplomacy” published a report revealing Qatar’s planning to invest US$5 billion in Bangladesh over the next few years, based on the statements of many Bengali media, which confirmed Doha’s orientation to launch many projects within various sectors in the capital Dhaka or other cities, pointing to the most important areas concerned with Qatari funds and putting energy first, adding transport, infrastructure, industry and agriculture, outlining the most prominent reasons for Qatar to seek investment in Bangladesh and injects such huge financial value into its various markets, the first of which is its border site, which allows access to goods produced on its territory to other countries across its land borders or by air and sea shipment and export to countries wishing to import them, stressing that the distinctive quality of agricultural land in Bangladesh, and its availability to the labour force at very reasonable salaries, will make it one of the most prominent Qatari investment destinations during the next phase.
The report added that Bangladesh’s desire to develop its energy capabilities and its willingness to enter into partnerships with those wishing to invest in this field will motivate Doha to take advantage of this opportunity and enter the Bengali market for this sector, given that the endless Qatari interest in renewable energy projects, in turn, with its recent investments in many countries by Nebras Power, which succeeded in acquiring a 24% stake in Unique Meghnaghat Limited (UMPL) south of the capital Dhaka, a package of projects is expected to be announced before the end of this year.
The report stressed the positive Qatari investments for Bangladesh, which is currently one of the least developing countries on the economic level, announcing that Doha’s launch of projects worth up to $5 billion will play a major role in improving the economic reality in Dhaka and other cities, expecting the Bengali economy in the period following our investments to grow by up to 7% compared to the current situation, pointing to the unlimited facilities that Bangladeshi officials are seeking to present to Qatari investors from both the governmental side or represented by the private sector.

الدوحة: نشر موقع “moderndiplomacy” تقريرا كشف فيه عن تخطيط قطر لاستثمار 5 مليارات دولار أمريكي في بنغلاديش خلال السنوات القليلة المقبلة، مستندا في ذلك إلى ما صرحت به العديد من الوسائل الإعلامية البنغالية، والتي أكدت توجه الدوحة إلى اطلاق العديد من المشاريع ضمن مختلف القطاعات في العاصمة دكا أو غيرها من المدن الأخرى، مشيرا إلى أهم المجالات المعنية بالأموال القطرية واضعا الطاقة في مقدمتها، مضيفا إليها النقل والبنية التحتية، والصناعة، و الزراعة، مبينا أبرز الأسباب التي دفعت بقطر إلى البحث عن الاستثمار في بنغلاديش وضخ مثل هذه القيمة المالية الضخمة داخل شتى أسواقها، أولها موقعها الحدودي الذي يسمح بالوصول بالسلع المنتجة على أراضيها إلى الدول الأخرى عبر حدودها البرية أو بواسطة شحنها جوا وبحرا وتصديرها للبلدان الراغبة في استيرادها، مشددا على أن النوعية المميزة للأراضي الزراعية في بنغلاديش، وتوفرها على الأيدي العاملة برواتب جد معقولة سيجعلها من بين أبرز الوجهات الاستثمارية القطرية خلال المرحلة القادمة.
وأضاف التقرير إن رغبة بنغلاديش في تطوير قدراتها الطاقوية واستعدادها للدخول في شراكات مع الجهات الراغبة في الاستثمار في هذا المجال، سيحفز الدوحة على استغلال هذه الفرصة وولوج السوق البنغالي لهذا القطاع، بالنظر إلى أن الاهتمام القطري اللامتناهي بمشاريع الطاقة المتجددة، مستدلا في ذلك باستثماراتها الأخيرة في العديد من البلدان بواسطة شركة نبراس للطاقة، التي نجحت في الاستحواذ على حصة تقدر بـ 24 % من شركة يونيك ميجناجات باور المحدودة “Unique Meghnaghat Power Limited (UMPL) ” في جنوب العاصمة دكا متوقعاً الاعلان عن حزمة مشاريع قبل نهاية العام الجاري.
وأكد التقرير على إيجابية الاستثمارات القطرية بالنسبة لبنغلاديش التي تعد حاليا من أقل البلدان النامية على المستوى الاقتصادي، معلنا أن إطلاق الدوحة لمشاريع تصل قيمتها إلى خمسة مليارات دولار سيلعب دورا كبيرا في تحسين الواقع الاقتصادي في دكا وغيرها من المدن الأخرى، متوقعا أن يشهد الاقتصادي البنغالي في الفترة التي تلي استثماراتنا نموا يصل إلى 7 % مقارنة بما هي عليه الأوضاع في الوقت الراهن، مشيرا إلى التسهيلات اللامحدودة التي تسعى الجهات المسؤولة في بنغلاديش إلى تقديمها للمستثمرين القطريين حكومة كانت أو ممثلين للقطاع الخاص.
